Okay I've wanted to make this topic about the Inquisition, so what do we know? Beware this thread may contain spoilers from Dragon age games books and comics!

Okay so, we know that the Inquisition is a political/millitary organization, we also know you (The Inquisitor) is the ruler of the inquisition, but what impact the inquisition will have on goverments in Thedas? we know that Josephine is the ambesstor of the inquisition, and that cullen is the leader of the army, and Leliana is the leader of the spyes, and you Lead all of them.

Will the Inquisition Act like a goverment of some sort?

In my opinnion yes, you have political power plus millitary but I think it will act like the Grey Wardens.

so what is your opinnion guys? leave a comment below :) btw! Sorry if somone made a thread like this.

My theory is the Inquisition is basically going to be taking the place of the Grey Wardens in terms of being the settings version of Specters/Jedi. The Grey Wardens can't do anything when there's not a Blight and this has been illustrated in the past two games (plus that being a GW isn't the awesome fantasy that Origins made it out to be). The Inquisition will be all of the super-good elements of the Wardens but able to interact with the governments of Thedas and events within all the time.

David Gaider made a comparison to the Jedi Order and I'm inclined to think it'll also serve the role of historical Knights Templar (versus the actual Templars) or Teutonic knights in that it'll be an organization that virtually anyone can join and holds only scattered lands but possesses vast military muscle as well as resources which we'll probably assemble in game.

I think post-Elder Ones, the Inquisitors will be the people who investigate/deal with/kill Blood Mages/Demons/Dark Magic with the Templars/Mages dissolved either way. Either the Templars will be absorbed completely into the Inquisition or the Mages Circles will be. Both organizations will cease to exist, however.

I like to think of the Inquisition as some sort of international police force but really it depends on how you play I'd assume. Considering you can choose to focus on different aspects of the inquisition such as military, espionage and political power. So depending on your actions it could be a spy network, an army or a force of diplomats.

According to an interview with Cameron Lee, the new Inquisition was Justinas plan B in case the peace talk with the Templars and Mages failed (which it did although not in a way anyone expected), Cassandra is apparently the one who puts the plan B into motion although the main objective has changed for the Inquisition.

The main objective is now to stop the Breach and the Elder one who cause the Breach by any means necessary.

Your main base is Skyhold which is located somewhere near or in village of Haven.

You will start out small and somewhat weak since the Inquistion is new so you have to recruit and get resources and such in order to grow in Power and influence.

That's pretty much what we know so far I think.

I think the Inquisition will replace the Templars wholesale in lore.

They're Templars that gamers wouldn't want to punch in the face every time they see one.
