So with the new Mass Effect coming out there is a LOT of potential in it. I hear great promising things about custimization and new features. But I have one very important question that (I think) does not have to do with the campaign (But hope is does) or things that would have to be hidden. I have heard some worrying things floating around about my two most favorite species (species's?) being taken out of the game all together. My question is this....Will there be the possibility to play as a Krogan and/or a quarian again in the new Mass effect? I absolutely love the Krogan and have done everythign to help them and the Quarians (in a peaceful-ish way) get their homeworld back. If Someone can answer this please do. I'm going to go shoot some Pyjaks now....
ONE! Very important question that I have heard some very worrying things about....

BW did ask a small(!) group of people if they could loose some of the races if they had to, and if so which ones.
The result was Krogan and quarians if I remember correctly. But they have not yet confirmed or denied if that is happening.
Personally, I dont care much for the Krogans, but Quarians... one of the very few Races, next to the Asari, who actually feel unique.
I would be sad if they would ditch them.

I think it was at this years comic con when they asked people. Not sure though.
And taking the result they got from only a few people as proof they can remove the races could backfire.
We'll see. Here is to hoping for leaks and rather sooner than later ![]()
My favs. are the Quarians and Asari.

Anyway, wasn't there a krogan in the E3 teaser thingy this year?

Oh, no!
I actually don't want to lose any of known species. I'm interested in all of them. It would be very sorry to find that some of the known (and love) species no longer exist! I very hope we can meet them all in the new game. Please, please, Bioware, don't destroy any species!

It was from 2013, I'm pretty sure of it.

Ah, my bad. I could not remember when it was exactly.
Yes there was.

Krogan are confirmed there was also a blurry still of what's clearly a Prothean (more stasis pods? Or is Javik returning?).

To be honest, I did not like Javik that much. He had a few good one liners, but I did prefer the protheans as this mystery of a species.
It gets a bit annoying with all that uncertainty and I dont want to loose the Quarians.
The odd thing is that the more I hear, the more it sounds like a forced reboot.

Alright then! Good to hear. Cannot wait to see what they decide to do with the New Mass Effect. Still don't understand why there are so many people that aren't fans of the Krogan in some way, but at least the ones that are, are very strong about it. In anycase, whatever way it turns out, I will probably get it. lol

My original ideas of the Protheans was based upon Vigil - not as far as looks were concerned, but character. I saw them as capable, noble and willing to sacrifice themselves to save future species. I had hoped that some of ME3 was going to focus on the story of the 12 scientists who went through the Conduit and changed how the Keepers respond to the Reaper signal. Why the Citadel would need a signal sent to it at all in order to act was never explained in any event.
Javik, although cool was radically different from my idea. The Protheans had their shot. They lost. Let them rest.
Mass Effect will not be the same if we are missing certain species.

While there are other, more important, factors for me personally in addition to that, still... amen to that.

The problem with the Quarians is going to be that some people killed them all and some didn't so they are best left either dead or not included in the main story. It's easier to deal with the Genophage decision that's if its even a sequel at all.

From a writing standpoint I would imagine that not all of them have been killed off. But hey, another choice that could be imported into the new game.
If they are dead, there are none of them. If they are not, there are. After all, if one of the squad mates died, they are no longer there and their new plot is gone too. It is doable.

I agree. ME-1 had a lot of interesting mysteries. Unfortunately, in the ME-3 we got boring explanations or got nothing. ![]()

In ME1 and 2 I thought the Protheans were those tentacle head races, like the statues on Ilos. Then we got bug-like Javik who was awesome but had the same thing as almost all other alien species in the universe - bipedal, three-fingered, human-like.
Really, I hope there will be more variety in new ME, not all aliens have to be human-like.

I concur, taking away ANY species -even those i don't enjoy- could change the universe, maybe add some more species, and make the ones that exists more complete, but not remove em.
I guess removing a specie would be cool only if the storyline provides sufficient information

It's time for the easiest part of any game developers job.....the cuts.
While I wasn't able to cut all the races I wanted to I have cut a lot of them. Yahg is cut, Elcor is cut, Hanar is gone. Drell I like your hustle that's why it's so hard to cut you. Congratulations! The rest of the races have made the team...except you, you and you.

Ilos was a pretty moving place, honestly. Ancient, dead, so much hope lost

I found that interesting about the protheans. We get this romanticized idea about them from Liara..and then the hands on experience we get is of a rational science-y type people.....but hen when we meet Javik turns out they were war mongering totalatarian expansionists. Makes me think back to anthropology and archeology classes......
Quarians personally I always had the most trouble with.....so..they leave their planet on their own ships....and are so weak they need to wear enviro suits on their own ships and around each other? Only mysterious thing about them was what they looked like.....i liked the culture of the Quarians but from a bio standpoint they bothered the heck out of me. (Why couldn't they have been slow my strengthening immune systems.....After all....they seem to have lost any immunity to anything in a super rapid time.....hadn't they only been off their planet for 300 years? )

Do the Krogan bother you too from a bio standpoint?
There's so much wrong with them at so many levels I don't even know where to begin.

Of those two options I'd rather Javik returned than the entire species. I hope they keep Javik as the last Prothean.
