Did the MP reveal change the platform you want to plai DA:I on? (Console vs. PC)

When I first heard that DA:I would be released on the new consoles I resolved to buy a PS4 just for that. I didn't trust my ageing PC to handle it well - I usually wait a couple of years before I pick up games, I rarely play them on release.

So I got a PS4 (and love it), but on a whim I recently upgraded my PC so that it should run modern games reasonably well, too. I still planned on getting DA:I on PS4 (mainly for Vita support) and have it on preorder.

Now since the MP reveal, I wonder. There will be no cross platform (and no cross generation, I think) MP, so if I play on PS4, I'm stuck there. I played the ME3 MP on PC and have no experience with MP on consoles. Should I change my mind...? Would matchmaking be much different, or the players...? Console won't have text chat so if you want to communicate you'd have to use a mic (which I hate using) I guess...? Hm.

This far from release it's just guessing, of course - one would need to know how the game runs on different platforms, but maybe you still want to share your thoughts on the matter.

This is such a great problem to have.

Should you play on your brand new console or your upgraded PC? I'd go for whatever is most comfortable for you. Both in terms of controls and in terms of sitting for hours playing.

No, part of the reason I bought a new PC was to handle Inquisition, before I knew MP existed. I do, however, look forward to playing MP on the PC, though. I played ME3's MP on Xbox, and I always seemed to get stuck with the folks who scream into their headsets or say stupid things. I can shut the speakers off if that happens here.

I upgraded my PC at the end of last year, so I was always going to be playing it on PC. Especially a game like Dragon Age I prefer to have the Keyboard + Mouse setup.

Which really it comes down to which setup you like the most.

It might affect if I buy an XBox One or a PS4 in a few months.  But PC DAI is already out.

Hm interesting, I thought that there had to be more people like me wondering about that. Thanks for your input everyone. :)

I think my problem is that I'm a PC gamer by heart, I have never played any Bioware title on the console - I got the PS4 for console only games and with an eye towards DA:I. I think I'll stay by my original plan: get it on the console and play the SP there. If I don't like the MP on the console, though, I might get it on PC later down the line when the price should have dropped a bit.

Well I want to get it for my new PC which I plan to upgrade to in a couple months and I hope the MP experience would be good on it. I don't have or plan to buy Xbox One or PS4 anytime soon so I hope it's not skewed in their favor too much. I do have a PS3 but that's probably a worse option and I don't want to get it on a 10 year old hardware anyway. Regardless, SP is far more important to me and for that I prefer the PC.

Yeah that's my reasoning too (but I think I'll prefer the console because it'll run better, on the TV, with Vita support. I had my husband hooked on Last of Us because I played it on the TV and he could watch it like a movie, I plan to do the same to him with DA:I heh).

There is definitely appeal in getting the big TV experience and if I could afford it I would get it for both the PC and a next gen console. I know DAI will not have modding support but I'm holding out hope that simple chargen or cosmetic mods like we had in DA2 will at least eventually come out.

I have both xbox one and ps4 and got it for xbox one solely because its newer (for me) and I have tons of ps4 games already.  I say if you want to get it on pc and play MP, just get it on pc.  Will save you 10 buck or whatever it is for ps+/xbox live gold.

The mp  is making me consider grabbing this on console. My friends play on consoles and I have a PC mainly for single player games. I would love to no life this game on PC if its as good as the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer though. I want to find a group of people to play with. That is the hardest part of the transition from console to PC for me.

Play on PC with an Xbox 360 controller! Heh, if you're a PC gamer at heart though, I'd say stick with it. There should be good matches for all the consoles and I'm sure there will be forums - here or elsewhere - for setting up matches for all platforms.

I have planned to play on PS4 from the beginning. The only upgrades I have made since I purchased a PS4 is get a new receiver and a new Sofa. The Sofa has a great ottoman section so I can put my feet up.

Totally dig it.

I played the others on PC. Now I know they don't directly import and the controls are probably going to sadly at least partly a console port to mouse and keyboard but I'll live with that and in single player I'll probably have a bit nicer control over some of the tactical camera movements and such anyway.

But that's kind of the way I am. if I start a series on a particular machine I tend to finish it there unless something happens where I can't really. (like say being a new gen console game or the fluidity and nature of play just being better on a particular machine and I just can't stand it on the one I started out on)

I may do both, for different reasons.

PC - Single player

XBone - Multi player with friends

Also, on xbox I can start playing a few days earlier in NZ (PC retail release is 21st November, Xbox store is 18th). Plus with EA Access trial I might start playing on the evening of the 17th, as long as I can hold off the first 4 days before release.

Well since I don't have a console I guess I will just have to play it on PC. I haven't seen a game that is a console exclusive that would lead me to buy a console.
