The tradition of ugly headgear continues: the default Inquisitor helmet

It doesn't really fit on characters that aren't wearing heavy armour, but it's OK.

Since most people appear to like the helmet, this may be the main problem. Also, it does look good in the picture posted by Maria Caliban above, but I don't think it looks good on the heads of my preferred character classes and races on the DAI website. Which aren't warriors. Going back to the website, the helmet does look reasonably good on the female human warrior.

So this may be a classic case of warrior-preference in art design rather than general ugliness. Perhaps it was not the best idea to give the Inquisitor an iconic helmet regardless of class. Personally, I can't wait for my mage hat.... the awesome one, not the ones inspired by DAO's style.

I really, really dislike the Inquisitor helmet as well.  I guess it looks fine just sitting there on the ground as an object, but when seeing it worn it just looks stupid.

But whatever, I'm just going to continue my tradition of using the 'hide helmet' option anyway.  I'm more concerned about the garish red and blue thing I saw once that was billed as the Inquisitor's iconic armor.  Guh, awful.

I actually really like it.

Spoiler

C'mon it looks intimidating even on it's own.

I like the helmet. It matches the Reaver specialization too so that's a bonus.

I can only echo TK514 here. It looks good as a piece of decoration, but not so much on the faces of Inquisitors.

I dislike the helmet too when someone wears it. It's fine when it's showcased.

Everytime I see it in a demo/trailer I feel like the head of the protagonist is smaller in proportion. I'm not actually sure if it's true.

Most of the armor designs for DA* have been awful an some have crossed over to comedic. I feel like the mage outfits, unlike most, annoy me less because they aren't really supposed to be functional so they can sorta look like anything plus I love the fact that they aren't more of the usual "painted on the side of a van" wizard outfits.

I hate stupid designs, and this helmet is a stupid design. If the inquisitor ever dares to look down upper chest and throat injuries are guaranteed. Wearing this helmet is more dangerous than fighting without helmet. <_<

But it blends nicely with Biowares fetish with making armors that leave your neck completely exposed.

I think it looks fine on lightly armored peeps as well, but if you're not a fan, then you have the hat... which also looks good.

I suspect the hat will make you bald, unfortunately.

Hide helmet will likely be my choice

If the headgear serves its purpose, then I don't have a problem with what it looks like.

I would rather the dragon head be more abstracted into a nose guard for practicality.  I don't mind the body carved into the helmet itself - it is only mildly raised keeping the general shape of the helmet.  I just feel like that silly dragon "third eye" piece would break off (plus I just plain don't like it).

I also feel like the sweeping jawline would either be carving into my shoulders - or get stuff when I tried to turn my head (that the Maker that "clipping" is a Law of Physics in gaming. ;) )

The helmet is to cover up the face simply because it's a game that is your Shepard. I don't know, i use the default Shepard because he looks so good and my memories of Mass Effect is default Shepard's face. And i never create any of my own Shepard (despite i'm given the option to).

I honestly like it but for a warrior not a mage or rogue. From game-play previews the item is purple which dragon age 2 meant it was unique  much like Hawke's champion armour so I am assuming that the helmet is the warriors unique inquisitor helmet (As previews where showing the inquisitor has a warrior) and mage & rogues will get their own unique inquisitors helmets and armour just like Hawke did in dragon age 2.

For trailers I think it is just the place holder armour as I don't think we will have it at start of the game

Spoiler
but maybe after we join and lead the Inquisition. I also agree it probably used to cover the face of inquistior in the trailer as the model is probably just the default human male

I'm not a fan of it personally, but I am partial to the big goofy pirate hat we've seen in other screenshots, so I'm not terribly worried that I won't find something I like the look of. In the worst case though, I guess I'll just let my long shoulder length, luxurious oddly shiny hair blow carefree cling statically to my head in the breeze, just like always. Glorious!

Its hard for a company to lead off with the most epic looking thing in the game strait away. I doubt your going to find super duper cool looking stuff right away like some of the Skyrim armour mods.

I will never get this, for what purpose does wearing aesthetic unappealing gear for 90% of character's career actually serve?  There's no good reason dedication to a pleasing aesthetic quality should not be sought throughout the entire game.

I personally think you should only have the most awesomest looking gear for half the game, nothing crazy like 90%. The idea behind this is that you have to earn it.

I like it, it looks cool on warriors, maybe rogues, but not mages.

It is hard to discuss something based on subjective opinion. What one finds attractive or not may not be the case for another.

However, the dead fowl one can wear as headgear in DAO is not debatable; 'tis truly worthy of an Abomination.

Wow... that looks a lot better in silver.  I could see myself wearing this for most of the game.  Hopefully we'll be able to change colors during crafting?  I was never a huge fan of the standard... yellowish green helmet.

I'm not a fan of the helm either (though it looks awesome completely on its own in the DA: I logo) but I usually toggle the helmet as being "off" so I can see my character's face when they are running around usually, so it doesn't bother me too much.

I'm more interested in our armor choices. DA: II was a step in the right direction, the DLC armors especially. Legacy's Warden armor remains my favorite to this day (along with the Champion armor). A lot of the armors you got out of the mage/warrior/rogue packs were amazing too. So ... a step in the right direction.

And there's the issue.

It's your personal taste not the overall opinion as you hinted in your original post.

I like it personally. It doesn't SUIT every armor that it gets placed with but it's still a sexy helmet.
