I do wish that they would include circlets and diadems. I remember that Wynne artwork had a circlet/diadem in it. Haven't really seen any of such items in-game (or I can't remember) and I'm not sure what the lore says about mage headwear. Didn't Flemeth wear one in DA2?

Nothing can be as bad as that hideous Champion armor from DA2, so it's an improvement as far as default armor goes.
Hope we can customize the helmet, maybe even the option to add some shiny jewelries to it.

I don't like it, at all. I do, however, like the look of some of the other helmets I've seen, so it's no biggie.
I think the helm is pretty sweet, especially in the subtle brilliance of the face guards in the form of swooping dragon wings. I just wish it didn't obscure so much of the Inquisitor's face, but I'm sure there'll be a no helmet option per usual.
A helmet isn't supposed to be fashionable. Like or not, there should be plenty of choices available in-game.

However I do hope there is a option to toggle the helmet slot on/off in gameplay/cutscenes/conversations, would be nice to be able to stay at a place and watch the natural beauty without the helmet showing

More seriously, I'm fairly ambivalent toward the helmet in question. Its no more ridiculous in design than the rest of the armour and weapons, so that's fine.
I like it more than the old mage hats.
Though, I wouldn't wear it on a mage Inquisitor.
I'm going to agree with this on both accounts.
Hopefully, with the crafting system we can make some decent looking hats/helmets. Like the cowboy looking one in some of the concept arts...

I love the helmet I really do, But like others ahve said, it just doesn't match if you're not wearing badass warrior armor. To me *personally and it's just my personal opnion* it'd looked really awkward if worn by a robe cladded mage or a rogue who's wearing leather amror and randomly has a metal plated helmet as opposed to something rogueish, but all in all, it is most definitely not ugly. In my opinion, just doesn't match some outfits, which could be said for any armor piece.

The helmet looks good only with accompanying heavy armor. Looks out of place with light rogue armor.
Qunari Inquisitor: Ugly head gear? Ha. Be glad that you can even wear head gear.
