I like DA:O's combat much more than DA2.

Origins' combat was too dull for me and the archery in that game was disappointing compared to DA2. I like the fast paced and flashy moves DA2 incorporated. Bows felt like pea-shooters in Origins but in DA2, it felt more rewarding and powerful whenever I shot an arrow or used a bow skill.

However, I do agree that class/build diversity was forgotten in DA2. Sadly that part got stream-lined. The random enemies appearing in DA2 could have been okay if they didn't just fall from the air. It the random enemies transitioned properly into the scene like seeing one opening a door and coming out of a building then the randomness would've been okay for me. It's just a minor set-back for me however, I still enjoy DA2's combat overall even more than Origins.

I like them both, but I encourage Bioware to keep exploring new things like DA2. Not necessarily because they're better, but just because they should evolve and learn new things or what works and what doesn't. Relying on just DAO is akin to traditionalism, in a way.. It's similar to Kotor combat, and essentially other rpgs before that (even though they were isometric). Jade Empire wasn't the greatest, but I'm glad they tried different things there too.

Ha, DA2 combat reminded me of TMNT .. tumbling along and jumping 10 feet in the air.

Those foot soldiers at least defended theirselves...

As someone who mostly plays as a Mage I prefer DA2's speed, fluidity and effects. I do miss the spells from DAO. Also in DAO the staffs were bloody awful. In DA2 they felt much more like a real weapon IMO. I never stop or pause combat or use tactical stuff either I just think it ruins the rhythm of the battle. I know I'm in the minority tho.

I am planning the same for DA: Inquisition with the addition of streaming it all on Twitch.  Currently I stream an extremely modded Skyrim 6 days a week in the same breathe of the guides I created here.  Teaching people how to mod Skyrim and improve their experience.

Very cool. Got a link so I can subscribe?

What's your first playthrough going to be like? Can PM as not to derail this topic ...
