I began to worry about this since I just learned that you have to be online to play Destiny on PS4, so the thing is this: I am completely offline on my Playstation 4 and I would like to hear from the developers or someone who knows, if this game will require you to be online to play the single player campaign or any online activation of any kind or if you can just pop in the game disk and play it, even if I am completely offline?

Last I heard, you only need to be online to deal with save imports, multiplayer, and DLC, otherwise it's strictly offline.

You can play offline, but you won't be able to use the world states from the Keep without a one time internet connection.

Just a question. What is the world states and will it in any way make me enjoy the single player mode less? Also please I would like reasurence from one of the developers or someone who really know, that you will be able to play the game's single player mode being completely offline. And I mean completely offline, without any online activation or anything like that. I am completely offline on my PS4 and don't plan to be online any time soon. I loved the previous Dragon Age games so much and this is my most anticipated game this year!

The world state is what the world looks like based on the decisions you made in the earlier games.  For example, whether you recruited Leliana, who you chose to be king of Orzammar, and whether you killed Anders.  If you want your DAI game to start from the choices that you made in previous Dragon Age games, you need to import those choices from the Keep, which is the website that you will use to recreate the world state of your original playthroughs of Origins/Awakening/DA2.

If you absolutely do not want to use an internet connection, you can still play the game from the default world state.  However, none of the choices you made in the older games will apply.

Ok Lady Nuggins I apologize for repeating myself, but can you 100 % guarentee me, that I will be able to play this game without being online at all? Or are you just guessing?

the only problem with playing offline is not downloading your world state from dragonage keep, but that should only take a minute or two, afterwards you should be fine with playing the game offline. if you don't have an internet connection, try going to a friends house real quick and download your world state, and then after just play the game at your place.

Yes. Online is only required if you want EA account connectivity.

The only reason Destiny requires a permanent internet connection is because it's built that way. Like an MMO, they want you to always be connected to other players. Destiny has no concept of "offline singleplayer". That is not the goal Bioware have for Inquisition.

OP, one thing you can in general count on is that when on an official forum multiple members tell you something is a certain and nobody is denying it what is stated is usually true.

I also recall that you don't need an internet connecton on consoles. I believe it was Derek French who stated this. Unfortunately it isn't that easy to find the actual post on this forum. Even with Google it may still be too hard to find the actual post, expecially if I misrembered the person who actually made the post or if he used different wordings than remembered. I wish this forum had an actual developer post tracker.

I'm not a dev, so I cannot guarantee anything.  I was just explaining what the Keep is, so you can decide for yourself whether it's worth not importing your world state.

Well so it is completely sure that you can play the game being completely offline? Perhaps a link

I've been trying to google it but the words are just too common to truly pull out an article or post confirming it.

That said, OP, my consoles are always offline and the last Bioware game to have a multi-player element, Mass Effect 3 did not need you to be online at all if you didn't want to be. I dare say it shall be the same for Inquisition. I wish I could find links for you to confirm that this is very much the case but alas, my google-fu is failing me. I wish I could help you further.

It's a single player RPG with a separate and optional multiplayer component. They have no more reason to directly say "This game can be played offline" than Bethesda do with The Elder Scrolls series. As already explained, Destiny (for example) is the exception, not the rule. Inquisition is a single player RPG. No internet connection is required if you have no desire to use the Keep or connect to your EA account.

The base game is 100% offline.

Yeah but do you need online activation?

No.  Only to import save game data.  Otherwise there is a default world state you can use.

I do have the link to Derek French's reply here - http://forum.bioware...0#entry16512751

But bear in mind, he's talking about the PC version in that reply. That does requires a one time online activation. My assumption would be that all versions of the game would need that one time online activation but given I don't actually own a console of any description, I don't know what the standard is for console games. Hopefully one of the devs will see this and be able to give you a definitive answer or you could try tweeting them? They're pretty responsive on twitter as long as you're polite.

The console games do not need an activation of any kind. The only online connectivity is optional, unlike the PC version which requires the game to be linked to an Origin account. As is the nature of console games vs most modern PC games.

I think you will need to be online to activate the game but you can play the game offline after that.
