Why are you surprised by this?
You should re-read my comment.
I said it's a funny thing and that it's not classy to break up with someone right when all their companions are around.
I said nothing to give any intention of me being "surprised."

I think all the companions take off as soon as Alistair comes in to "talk".
Alistair is incapable of loving you. This straight from the horse's mouth. ![]()
I fear the medium of text has failed us and we have failed to detect the humorous intent in each other's posts. I was merely observing that throughout the game Alistair is fairly clueless in many of his social interactions so it's unsurprising that he would do something so tactless. Perhaps I could have phrased it better. The "you" was rhetorical and not directed at you specifically, rather I was saying, (words to the effect) "Alistair says tactless things a lot. That he would do so again at this point is fairly consistent with his previous behaviour, so it's hardly surprising". In hindsight, I can see how it might have been read at a dig at you, this was not intended at all. Apologies for any offence caused. You should re-read my comment.

The funny thing is also is that he breaks up with you right when all your companions are in the same room. Not classy.
I'm not sure who's meant to be in that scene really - maybe it's only meant to be a scene of celebration sadly followed by a break up. When he leaves, you find your self back at the Arl's after all. Maybe the rest are in the same room, but I never got the idea the discussion was really public at all, that if they were there, they were far too busy to be paying attention. Still not cool though.
If we are going to assume that companions are always listening in, what about the scene where you take Alistair to meet his sister? The rest of the party can be stood right behind you when that emotional train wreck occurs. Maybe he learnt some bad interpersonal skills from the pc ![]()

Yep... lots of VERY personal conversations can happen with other companions listening in, if the player doesn't know how to avoid it (and make the effort to do so).
I try to remember to dismiss everyone but Alistair and Dawg from the party before visiting Goldanna... it isn't Blight bizness, so it doesn't concern anyone but Alistair.
I do, really, love the idea that no one listens to Alistair even when they're romancing home.
"Hmm, now I'll be Queen!"
"Okay, now we have to part ways."
"WHAT!?"
"YOU PUT ME ON THE THRONE! YOU KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN!"
"NO I DIDN'T!"
Heck, the a Warden and their love interest have sex right in the middle of the campsite with all the other companions just standing around. That has to be super awkward for everyone (except Zevran, if he's not involved, who would enjoy the show). You'd think they could at least go in a tent or something, but no, right in the middle of camp by the fire...Yep... lots of VERY personal conversations can happen with other companions listening in, if the player doesn't know how to avoid it (and make the effort to do so).

I was talking more about things like having the 'juicy gossip' convo trigger unexpectedly and the Warden and Alistair dishing other companions WHO ARE STANDING RIGHT THERE OMG!!!!! Have you no MANNERS, Wardens?
And like the time Alistair and one of my Wardens discussed lamppost licking with Wynne peeking over Alistair's shoulder. ![]()
But yes. For how Zevran goes on and on about how prudish Fereldans are, public sex certainly is a thing, isn't it? ![]()
I think you could be going for it in a bunker and Zevran would still find you. It's at Morrigan's campfire which is nominally more private. My favourite non-private conversation is with Lolly re: Alistair's performance. LOL everytime. I love winding him up. ![]()
Wynne disapproves -5.

Alistair is a proven racist throughout Dragon Age: Inquisiton. He even says he can't tell the aliens from the animals!
