It WAS Vivienne...  :(

Now i don't know, i don't like Cass (not just visually), and i know very little about Josephine.

This may be the first DA/ME that i don't pursue a romance.

Don't know what to think about that for now, but for a 100hour Bioware game i think it will feel like something is missing.

When the first survey came out, we didn't know if Blackwall or Solas were even LIs. In fact, the original version also had Vivienne and Varric because neither had been confirmed as non-romance options. Since then, we learned that both Blackwall and Solas are LIs, both are straight, and that Solas and Cullen were race-gated. All of these facts could (and I suspect did) affect people's opinions.

Yes, I was making a light-hearted post about a significant discrepancy to hint that the polls don't really tell us anything meaningul. I was using a deliberately jokey and obviously false but still technically valid interpretation of the poll (that everyone here is fickle) to demonstrate that point, forgetting in my eagerness to prove how clever I was that subtlety and the internet don't mix.

Solas' popularity seems to have dropped a lot, from most preferred romance to least. Not a suprise though when he's gated so much.

Solas was my preferred romance. But I wanted it to be male human Inq. Or at least human. Oh well. Guess I have to play as a female then. I dont really like to play as female. But I ended up absolutly love my FemShep coz of Thane, so hopefully I have a similar experience with my femElf.

Regardless, I will do a male. I wanted it to be an elf with Dorian. But because I have to try female elf on my second, I recon it will be human male my first playthough. or maybe elf.. I want to be male elf... Hmmm. Difficult.

Such a hard life I have. :P

He was one I was looking forward as well but the race-gating kind of killed my enthusianism. I want to play female qunaris more than any females but at the moment it seems like I don't have good option for romance for them. I kinda gated Iron Bull out myself, I could change my mind but it depends if he's willing to let go of Qun and fight against it with my Tal-Vashoth ^^; BW just doesn't intrest me at all.

I was going to romance Cass but since she looks manish in Inquisition instead of the beauty she was in DA2 I'm going to have to pass on her, that is until someone is able to mod the stache off of dorian and make cass pretty again.

Looks like my Female character is going with Cullen and my Male character is going to lust after Leliana

I agree poor Cassandra she got screwed over with this new Engine

she was so beautiful in DA2 I really wanted to romance her in a future game (back when I played DA2) but little did I know what would happen

I honestly don't get it.  I think she still looks gorgeous - in fact, better than DA2.  She's a kickass, tough-as-nails Right Hand of the Divine.  The hardness goes with her character, and it makes her look uniquely stunning.  Different strokes for different folks, I guess?  Definitely plan on romancing her on one of my playthroughs.

Me, I'm looking forward Blackwall the most.  We don't know a lot about him, but what we do know so far is appealing - plus, I'll be honest, it's just nice to have a well-bearded, more mature companion to romance.  I think he'll be my first LI, but I want to play the game before saying for sure.

After him, I'd say Dorian - I like the idea of a rebel Tevinter who's still proud to be a mage - and Cullen, whose story has been going on long enough that I want to see how he's changed and get to know him better.  And of course, Cassandra, as already mentioned.  Iron Bull and Solas are kind of meh~ in my books, but not completely out of the picture.

The only LIs who don't really appeal to me are Sera and Josephine; just hasn't clicked for me yet.  I'll see how I feel more in-game; no point writing off anyone entire since we haven't even really met them yet.

I might be in the non-romance boat as well. I'll be surprised if I like Cassandra at all, so it's really up to Josephine.

Well from the difference between Cass in DA2 to what she looks like in Inquisitor I'd say the tough as nails look pertains to her face getting bashed with a board until her jawline and cheekbones extended to manish levels. She had the strong feminine look in DA2 and I'm hoping that someone will rectify what I personally believe to be a travisty that was her physical change when people start modding the game.

I was seriously let down by all the characters(except varric ofc) on the visual department. I was looking forward to Cass and Cullen(as well as romancing Leliana but I guess she can just be my eye candy now), Cullen looks great a massive step up from DAO and DA2, but I fear his romance path is going to be lacking.

Thanks for posting up the data, SofaJockey. Very cool that there are over 1200 responses! That's not representational of all gamers, but it's certainly a large enough pool to be representational of BSNers (within reason).

So it looks like the most popular LI's are Blackwall, Iron Bull, Cullen, and Josephine (in that order). I'm not surprised by Iron Bull and Josephine, just because they have the largest potential audience. I'm a bit surprised at Blackwall being the most popular at this point, though, given how many people expressed concerns about him "looking old" and being close to his Calling (memories of Thane and all). I'm also a bit surprised by Cullen only because he's double gated.

It's also interesting that Cassandra is actually the least popular female LI according to these results. I thought for sure that she'd be the most. I guess it's a combination of her being straight, but also being non-traditionally beautiful.

The least popular overall is Solas, which is unsurprising given that he's gated by both race and gender. Of course, so is Cullen, but I guess he's just too damned dreamy.

Solas is actually incredibly DREAMY, I don't see Cullen stopping for a nap at the drop of a hat :P

Go on Varric, it's a great nick name, you know you want to!

I'm with you its a damm shame and I'm pissed at Bioware with what they did to Cass

Meanwhile Cullen gets even more handsome ...

Inside my preference? None. Outside of it however, I think the most interesting romance is Iron Bull. I'm curious to see how an qunari/qunari romance feels like.

Interesting how Blackwall and Solas have completely switched places, from your original poll.

Blackwall has sky-rocketed to the top, while Solas has plummeted to the bottom.  Perhaps it's because the latter is now known to be so uber-gated.

I hear they changed his face and now he looks less like Nicolas Cage. If this is true, what other reason do you need for this inversion?

I'm going with Solas or Josephine though likely Solas for my Inquisitor. I want someone scholarly for her and both of them seemed well learned. Though Solas seems more investigative then studying in a library.

Solas makes sense, with him being so restricted. What I'd be more interested in discovering is what makes Cullen fall farther back in popularity outside of those who are looking forward to him the most. I also wonder why Blackwall is so much more popular than most of the others. I suppose that air of mystery is appealing, since we know so little about him compared to the others?

Was going to be Sera, then Vivienne. But Male Inquisitor, and Vivi is unavailable.

Picked Sera anyway.

I'm really curious and looking forward to how Dorian will handle the bromance. That said Solas has also intrigued me and I will also romance him. I had no idea Cullen was so popular. Thinking I roman bull with a dwarf rouge maybe.

It doesn't surprise me that Solas is winning, he's a new character and he has a mystery to him. I'll definitely romance him in a later playthrough to explore the character more. Blackwall at 4.7%  -_-  I never really had much interest in the character, kinda forgot he was even there tbh.

I think that's entirely the reason. Not nearly as many people want to play as female elves as wanted to romance Solas. Blackwall is available to every race.

Sera first, and then Josie. After that ill most likely mix it up and go with Blackwall or Iron Bull.
