i feel similar but blaming each other doesnt help we should set aside our issues and think of the people. Unlike merideth and orsino

I wish they'd clarify flat-out Orsino was a evil Blood Mage running a cult out of Kirkwall.

It makes DA2 more interesting.

It's pretty obvious at this point. They don't really need to tell us.

Except for the part where Orsino tells Mage Hawke he wasn't.

@Willowhugger:  It also makes Orsino look less like another incompetent mage (Thedas is overflowing with them.)

"I was totally in charge, but totally too stupid to know about all the blood magic."  - while suitable for a Thedosian mage, is just a trope by this point.

People get all upset that Meredith didn't know about the rapes done by Templars - but if Orsino doesn't know about all the psychopath blood mages, it's totally not his fault, he was just innocent don't you know?

Yeah, I flat-out approve of Orsino being a sweet looking old elf who is actually the leader of the biggest source of corruption in the Circle system.

Crystal Blue Persuasion.  B)  Seriously, though mages all the way. My Mage Warden Amell and Mage Hawke will get along grand with my Male Mage Trevelyan. Magic is Might!

You know, there was someone who believed magic was might. Who was it...oh right...LORD VOLDEMORT!

Are you a Death Eater, ciarhdap? Are you?

That was sort of Dragon Age 2 in a nutshell, wasn't it?

Death Eaters vs. the Friends of Humanity.

C'mon now. Lucrosians are natural born hustlers. They sell ice in winter and fire in hell. Profiting off of the lyrium trade during a war between the Circle and the Templars is child's play.

I realize that you're at least half joking, but that's assuming either group has the money to buy it and that neither will simply take it by force.

I'd like to think that my Lucrosian could sell salt to a slug, raid to a bug and all that, but the mage-templar war doesn't appear to support a comfy, totally unlawful apostate mage lyrium operation. hehe.

And the real money-makers in the Lucrosian fraternity are the formari, specifically the tranquil for their enchantments - their work supports the entire circle of magi. So the best thing to do IMO would be to get on with the Inquisition, allow it to acquire lyrium for enchanting etc. make some coin from that, be as involved in the activities and politics of the Inquisition as they can to forge worthwhile ties, and plan from there - hopefully securing a soft landing for themselves after the breach is closed.

I don't really advocate using the tranquil beyond this, however. As tranquility can be reversed, it should be. In a new or reformed circle, mages can certainly find other ways to earn money.

Maybe... :bandit:  Seriously though my love of magic most likely contributed towards my evil characters. Some of the greatest and most powerful villains have wielded the arcane forces. Lord Voldemort, Emperor Palpatine, Jafar, Sauron, The Adversary, Saruman,Skeletor, Loki, Nagash, Ahriman, Magnus the Red, and other great bad guys have wielded magic. So yeah. Magic is might.

While there are many cool bad guys who use magic, it would be biased of us to say they get all the good stuff. Gandalf is the epitome of a Wizard. Merlin always used his extraordinary powers to aid others. Of course do not forget that the God Emperor of Mankind is the most powerful psyker of ALL. So powerful even the Chaos Gods acknowledge him as a rival.
