The whole slave-holding society of superstitious warriors with nothing in-between seems pretty Spartan to me.

Alright? I can point out two major differences: Governance and culture.

._. Their government is different in so far that there isn't a this odd combination of two king and council government, the Legion is a dictatorship. and the Legion is it self only the military, the people under Legion leadership can be many things beyond warriors, merchants, workers, farmers, etc.

Ultimately if i bothered to proper look over the two societies, i bet i could point out several more differences between the two.

Okay this marks the point where we truly do disagree.

I suppose so.

Ave. True to Caesar. Seriously though, I am a big fan of 'evil' characters. I used the quote because in a typical Bioware game, moral ambiguity is their forte. So who is more evil? Mages or Templars?

And all that is meaningless before a Templar.

This is Thedas' version of the pimp slap.

That depends entirely on the individual.  As a faction I wouldn't say either of them embodies "good" or "evil" qualities.  It's more based on "law" vs. "chaos."

Spoiler

Let me also say that this almost makes me rethink my opinion of Alistair... not quite, but that's pretty boss.

The Legion is its own thing but there's no option for citizens of the Legion's conquered territories to join the Legion. They are composed solely of conquered Tribals who are re-educated as members of the Legion and their children raised.

But we're way-off-topic.

Even if I do think that the Legion is way more Spartan than Roman.

True, very true. Although, I was a bit surprised that the Templars essentially rewarded us by making us Viscount of Kirkwall if we help them Anull the Circle.

'What do you call it when you kill someone to take all their stuff?'

'Adventuring!'

Ok new question. Who is the most evil Mage and who is the most evil Templar?

P.S. I am the only one who kinda gets an Assassin Creed Vibe from this? Templars vs Assassins. Templars vs Mages?

But there are elven magisters! -_-

They are still responsible for humanity's dominance in Thedas.

The Templars couldn't even manage to finish off a bunch of whelps from the southern B-Tier Circles.

*shrugs* You helped them enforce an ancient law and they rewarded you by granting you a political office.  None of that implies a set morality on their part or the PC's.  I'll pass on your second question, but as far as the third?  I don't see it.

How is that crumbling ruin responsible for human dominance?

I mean outside of a historical sense obviously.

I wonder if Dorian is going to point out there's more to Tevinter than slavery, Blood Magic, and cackling Sith Lordery.

He is proof that not every Tevinter is like that. However, I get the feeling he's not in Tevinter because of how large a portion of Tevinter's national identity that is.

Who knows. Tevinter seems serves the same purpose for Bioware that nazis do for all the WW2 FPS games.

Maybe.

Try to imagine if the next DA game takes place in Tevinter.

Then everyone would lose their minds.

That's hardly a fair comparison since Tevinter actually is ruled by blood mages who practice slavery and kill for sport.  Tevinters are barely even in DA2 games to begin with... they aren't cannon fodder, they are a historically malevolent nation.  How are they in any way comparable to FPS footsoldiers?

That's... kind of the point.

And I meant Nazis as a consistent, "reliable" faction to be used as antagonists, not just "mooks" or infantry specifically.

Can't the same be applied to Tal-Vashoth or the Carta?  We've seen far more of those two factions as go to bad guys in the past 2 games than Tevinters.
