Pretty much all of it. The Chantry hasn't done anything comparable.

The Chantry is an antique organization. The Chantry's destruction of the Dales is a monstrous act of barbarism.

However, it was a LONG time ago too.

tell me one thing human that Anders couldn't do.

Control his actions if the spirit in his head disagreed with him strongly enough.

Oh, I agree.

Sort of like Varric and the Blood Mage apprentice.

"I'll leave you alive, Anders." Hawke says.

*TWACK*

"Mother puss bucket..." Hawke backs away from arrow filled Anders.

"I didn't promise to," Sebastian said.

Well the fans would riot if you couldn't leave Anders alive. So maybe more like

"Step aside Hawke, I need a clear shot"

And then you get the choice to either talk him down, threaten him down or say "Go for it dude A+ decision"

lolno. The Dales tried to slaughter every human between them and Val Royeaux. The Dalish got exactly what they deserved.

In my non-Sebastian playthrough, my Rogue Hawke spared Anders because he didn't abandon family.

And Anders needed to clean up this mess he'd created.

Even if it took the rest of his life.

Well, I have mix of all these, I guess.

If it were me, I wouldn't do that, but what's done is done. I'm selfish enough and still wish to be fugitives together and can pretty much understand Hawke who only had Carver left and didn't want to see someone die again.

But I also want to bit*hslap him while yelling something like "it was your f-cking doing, be man enough to finish what you've started!" Because if you're gonna do such things, at least do them properly.

Yeah, not having Sebastian around also helps not cause I sympathize but because no one dares to threaten him right in front of me and get away with it. I also don't understand why there's no option to kill Sebastian, I guess they're gonna use him in DAI?

Don't they still keep the Dalish on the run by having their religion outlawed tho? Forcing people off lands by making it illigal to practice their faith is pretty shitty.

it was no such thing

The Dales attacked first, after refusing to aid DURING A BLIGHT

and then they had the misfortune of losing, I don't blame the Orlesians for going Carthago Delenda Est on those miserable wretches

I'm fairly sure that the actions of one's ancestors don't mean the destruction of your entire society and subsequent eternal slavery.

Mass Effect 3 had those two girls chatting in the Security Scan room.

One said they should take revenge on the species who didn't help Earth after the Reapers were done.

The other girl called her out on how insane that was.

Except the society wasn't destroyed, and nobody's a slave to the Chantry.

the difference being the elves attacked first, this wasn't a case of "we'll lets get revenge on those knife-ears" it was "those knife-ears are attacking us, let's turn it around and make sure they don't do it again"

Forced conversion by the sword and disaspora is pretty damn close.

And if not slaves, then forced dependence on humans due to being driven from their homeland.

Anyway, I feel hypocritcal using that as an example because my thesis was originally how secular forces drove the First Crusade.

the humans could have slaughtered them all, they didn't.  Instead they took them as converts and gave them a place to live and a nation to call their own.  There are surely ways to improve their lot however

All we know is that the elves converted and were allowed to live, others refused to and scattered.  We don't know the exact circumstances behind their conversion.

The joke is on you for believing what priests tell you. News of the hour! Abominable Pride Nugs have attacked! Sincerely, your most trusted source, the chantry. AKA tell me one thing human that Anders couldn't do. Just tell me. Fall in love? Help people? Kill people? Human. V isn't the only one blowing up buildings to change the world. While Anders has no spirit of vendetta within him, Vengeance he's got down. Remember Felemeth's words? We stand on precipice of change and "there can be no peace". The same exact line is said by Anders. This is not a coincidence.

So all those times where Anders blacked out and couldnt remember where he'd been or what he'd done and the time he tried to kill an innocent young girl for no reason were just totally normal things that could happen to anyone, then? The fact that he tried to stop himself from blowing up the chantry but couldnt because he was possessed doesnt count?

If they wanted to live in our, human, society, they had to follow the same rules as we did. If they didn't like it, they could leave. Sounds pretty fair to me.

The destruction of their society came about due to their actions, not that of their ancestors. And the elves aren't slaves outside of Tevinter.

Regardless, Orlais did a very shoddy job destroying the Dales. I mean, they actually allowed Halamshiral to remain majority elven. This is just poor planning all around.

If they were really serious about it, the very first step would be to disperse the elven population to differing Orlesian cities.

Hilariously, as an academic with a minor in politics, I have some experience with anarchist theory.

The funny thing is movie V is a more accurate anarchist than Alan Moore's original one.

What I think Moore was going for was morally ambiguous terrorist; anarchist or not. The movie probably romanticized V more than he would have liked.

Who was responsible for the mass-murder of Rivaini who wouldn't convert back from the Qun?

The Templars or the Chantry?
