Its funny how terrible Templars are always good people, don't you think?
Thrask allowed his charges to summon demons. That's what makes him a terrible Templar.

Depends on whether "you" are in the majority or the few. I can be 100% honest and make no apologies for it but if I was a mage in Thedas, screw the majority. I'm not a hero or willing to take one for the team from what I've seen in Thedas, sorry but I'd totally be a selfish bastard. Doesn't mean I'd go out of my way to murder people with magic...
Yes, it sucks hard when you are the few. Its why I enjoyed playing a mage who sided with the templars in DA2 and will do the same in Inquisition.
Its not about "fair", its about risk assesment and risk/reward judgement.
Ideal situation if you free the mages, they never use bloodmagic to corrupt and take over the worlds governements, they never cause another world ending catastrophy and they live peacefully as normal civillians, contributing and helping society. This seems unlikely.
Worst case scenario, Blights, Breaches, Tevinter Magocracies, Demons and Hell on earth.
Best case scenario you side with the Templars, you keep the mages under control, restricted but alive. Allowed to mage their own choices and govern themselves through the strict teachings of the chantry.
Worst case scenario you side with the Templars, several hundred/low thousands people die. Tranquil solution. Society still functions, through with a terrible black mark.
Or the Elder One have pretended to be Dumat.
Also possible!

My HawkeMageWardenInquisitor I suspect will end up like Rick from the Walking Dead.
"Will you STOP making me regret humanity survived!?"
I think he's going to try to turn the Inquisition into the Aurors from Harry Potter.
SOMEONE needs to kill the bad mages because there are a **** ton of bad mages.
I'll be Professor X with a bit of Wolverine thrown in.
Maevaris Tilani.
Haven't read the comics so you're going to have to elaborate.
All I know is that she's the transgender character right?

She's basically Alistair, Isabella, and Varric's ally against the evil Magister they fight who has kidnapped King Maric. She's a long-time friend of Varric and more or less states that everyone has slaves in Tevinter but not everyone is a psychotic blood mage.
Isabella doesn't much care for this excuse but Varric seems to think she's one of the good ones.

Ugh...Lori...
She needs to quit haunting the show.
You're just jealous Fiona is prettier than you.

Mages.
I abhor slavery, which is what the Circles are. The real deal breaker though is the Chantry stealing babies from mage mothers at birth ad raising them within the chantry to be brainwashed or enslaved.

Not according to Gaider.
I take his word over yours ![]()
its stated many times its not slavery. Discrimination, restriction of rights yes but they are autonomous of the chantry its just the templars they have a tense relationship with. And family breeds strong emotions that can weak or blind a mage to mage correct choicesMages. I abhor slavery, which is what the Circles are. Listen, David Gaider is a myth.
A kind of Ned Lud figure created by Bioware to do their tweets and interact with the fans.
No actual developer would interact with his fans.
I mean, would ANY sane man?
:-)

Ex. A parent may stunt a child growth trying to protcect them from dangerous spells not giving them the chance to learn control.
Do i agree ? No but one can make the arguement
Mages aren't Jedi.
Also, we saw how that worked with Anakin.
Not according to Gaider.

I shook hands with a simulation!

It also made the Jedi arrogant which clouded their eyes and caused their down fall in the end.

An actor hired to play this role.
Don't let them fool you like they did with the idea EA exists.

You don't even need Gaider's word to know that the Circle isn't slavery. They aren't treated as property, they aren't put to work with no compensation. They aren't owned by anyone.
The Circle is more akin to a boarding school/quarantine zone. The circle is a place of education, where mages can learn to harness their ability, but due to their condition and the threat they pose to others they can't leave the premises unless they prove themselves to be worthy. Like Finn, Wilhelm or Wynne.

They are, however, toted out to fight the Chantry's enemies whenever they are required.

A lot of governments use conscription in times of need. That still isn't slavery.

Crud until about what?
50 years ago the United States still conscripted.
