Uhm.. That letter is partially exactly what I was referring to, and proves my point. What was being done of illegal activities in the Circle was purposefully being kept from Meredith.

Considering he liked what you said, I'm pretty sure he was agreeing with you.

1. Gaider says that the three mages you can spare are made tranquil.

Do you have the source of this claim?

Yeah..... She was totally supposed to know something she didn't know she didn't know..... Do I have to point why this is an absurd claim, or can you figure it out on your own?

Really? She didn't notice senior enchanter after senior enchanter being made Tranquil? There is so much more so either she was in on what was going on or she was completely incompetent. If that letter is an indication then Alirk and other like him didn't get her or Orsino sign off on it. Which is required for a mage to be made Tranquil. So take your pick incompetent or as corrupt as Tevinter.

This is a good point.

If a mage is made tranquil, you need authorization from both Orsino and Meredith. If either one doesn't sign off on it, it legally cannot be done.

If Meredith sees a mage who is made tranquil that she didn't authorize, she has to know that there are illegal tranquilizations going on.

This is a good point.

It really isn't.

There are who knows how many mages in the circle, and i doubt any senior enchanter or even those of enchanter rank were touched, even if she wanted to investigate how is she to do so?

How many templars were in the Kirkwall garrison? How many could conduct the rite?

Beyond sheer numeric averages, you also need to factor in that she also had to deal with the circles other daily issues, like the constant stream of demon worshipping blood mages, the mage underground, crazy apostate terrorists and other issues.

She had a full plate it seemed most days.

That seems kind of weird given Meredith dies and Cullen isn't....well, evil.

The numbers of mages in the tower are kind of weird.

The Codex says there's thousands of mages in Kirkwall's Circle, for example.

Whereas they send like 8 to fight the Darkspawn.

I wouldn't say the Gallows is that large. I'd say more that it's several hundred mages. I'd put Kinloch Hold at maybe 100-150.

Really? So you have evidence of "senior enchanter after senior enchanter being made Tranquil"?

No? Then Alrik's plan could have consisted of pinning crimes on not Harrowed mages for the explicit purpose of making them Tranquil with Karl being the exception.

Was Karl even a senior enchanter? I thought he was just a normal rank and file mage.

Karl had some pull, as he went there to help the Circle establish itself better, I believe. Probably not a senior enchanter.

Still Harrowed mages were made Tranquil without her say so. So she didn't notice that? So again either she was incompetent or corrupt. I tend to lean toward corrupt the whole death squad thing.

Out of hundreds of mages, one person should notice when one goes missing, when she also has to help lead the city? Sounds legit.

Those tranquil mages were openly discussing it in the courtyard.

It was on the old forum before it was updated. I spent the last hour trying to find that post he put it in through google since I can't go to the old site and look up the old threads, and I'll keep looking.

While I do so, I think others who were around then can back up my assertion. If that doesn't happen, I'll keep looking for it.

They aren't openly discussing anyone being taken illegally.

One. We can confirm one was; one that had recently arrived and probably died the very day he was made Tranquil.

A couple mages said that they were going to be made Tranquil even though they had go through their Harrowing. It is also stated in the codex that mages who have been Harrowed have been made tranquil. So there is more than just one.

Basically all the Seekers would have come up with, would be that Meredith was taking extreme measures to handle an extreme situation. Hell, they might even slap a medal on her.

... And they could have rooted out the insubordinate Templars, and the abusive Templars, and could have helped investigate the mage corruption.

But they do have a standard of incompetence to uphold.
