Is... that Templar on the left playing his sword like an air guitar?
Mages or Templars?

A possessed mage is immune to tranquility and Lyrium because the fade entity grants infinite connection to the fade (Duh) and the lyrium can be harnessed by it. In your face Templars. V for Vengeance.
I lol'd. A possessed mage is called an abomination, which is no longer the mage.

My Inquisitor will side with the Templars, even though he's a mage himself. It's a long story ![]()
As for me, I'd side with the Templars as well. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't condone the Templar Order's actions under people such as Knight-Commander Meredith, not at all, but what I believe in are the Templars' ideals. I guess you could see I'm pro- theoretical Templars. As for the all-out Mage vs Templar-war, I'd side with them as well. I consider myself a utilitarian, meaning that I aim to do what is right for as many people as possible, and I simply do not believe that siding with the mages would be a good idea, considering the danger of possession. As for compromise... maybe, but that comes eerily close to going back to the old Circle-ways, and I don't want that either as that system obviously failed.

Yeah, because it's not like mages destroy the Veil just a little with every cast spell. Let's just let the Elder One win.

i agree somewhat but where does it end the devs are trying to shoehorn a choice that will either bring a period of enlightenment or a new totalitarian regimeSeriously, though, Mages are no better or no worse than other humans in Thedas and the problem is that other humans in Thedas are real jerkasses. We encounter mages who when granted phenomenal cosmic power, want to abuse it. This is no different than humans with swords who use that power to become bandits or dominate lesser mortals. Fenris thinks mages are worse than regular people at accumulating power and dominating lesser beings--I'm afraid to say I think he underestimates the capacity for evil in others as a whole. This, of course, means that the fears about mages are NOT unjustified even if we take the spirit thing out of the equation. As mentioned, both my Hawke and Warden were dramatically Pro-Mage Anti-Templar types who would have been fine with Anders starting his war if not for the fact he did it under a helpless blind lady. However, both of them ended up killing a near-ridiculous number of their fellow mages. It's apparently, A LOT to ask of your fellow mages to say, "Can you guys try NOT being evil?"Mage Warden released Jowan but the staggering DISAPPOINTMENT he felt in his friend never really healed. When he finds out about Anders he's going to be doubly furious. Mage Hawke was tempted to join the Templars for a split second because, Maker ALMIGHTY, Kirkwall's Circle is the cesspit of his people. Orsino turning into a Harvester just confirmed for him what he'd suspected all along--that said Circle was rotten from the top down.He STILL helped them, though but felt unclean afterward.

If I hadn't felt fans had made David Gaider's life a living hell, already, stalking him outside his house wearing elf ears like Trekkies and Shatner, I'd ask him if violence could do the same thing.
I wonder if battlefields are haunted in Thedas.
Maybe not since we visited Ostagar but possibly so.

I'd respond, but I don't think you're quite sure what you're arguing.
Again, there aren't enough "eye-roll" emoticons on the interwebs to adequately respond to cop-outs like this.

I wouldn't worry about that.
Thedas will always be a cesspit as long as there's money to be made killing Darkspawn, Demons, and Orlesians.

Magic is akin to science? Does science come with HORRIBLE DEMONS THAT TRY TO MURDER YOUR SOUL WHILE YOU SLEEP?
Because someone needs to protect the innocent from that.

so point a loaded gun at someone tell them to do something you want then afterwords kill them? I must have missed somethingLets just kill off all non mages. The more I think about it the more i like this idea. It would be nice if we could just turn everyone into mages so we didn't have to kill them or we could imprison them in circles until we find a way to make them mages. Of course they cant leave because they are a danger to others and themselves because they don't no magic wich makes them easy prey for demons. We can even have a special order of mages to guard them and kill them if they try to escape. We will put them through a test when their ready that involves using lyrium and mages to trap them in the fade. The only way out is if they learn magic from a spirt if not we kill them.
