Anders:  "Justice and I are one." (unless my actions are being called into question...)

"I oppose slavery!... Unless it's Fenris! That monster is an enemy of the revolution!"

"I would never harm an innocent mage..... unless she was scared and called me a demon!..."

It's not that Anders was right to do it, it's that Anders didn't do it.

Nope his buddy Vengeance- oh wait I mean "Justice" did.

Incorrect. Anders did blame himself for it. I'm the one absolving him.

"I feel his thoughts as my own."

I admit I'd picked it. Only with friendship Anders but the whole making your worst nightmare a reality? Man talk about a fate worse than death.

Still more than he deserves.

Can you imagine his reaction on hearing that?  Damn... subduing him long enough to make him Tranquil?  Forget Orsion and Meredith,  that would be a boss battle.

lol he wasn't that tough when he was fighting for the mages he threw under the bus lives so maybe it'd spiced things up.

Then again my rogue Hawke probably still would've three shotted him ala usual.

"Backstab! Twin FANGS! ASSASSINATE-" OFFS. Dead already?!?

To be fair though he says that on rivalry when this is clearly not the case. Having blackouts and losing control of himself makes the whole "justice and I are one." bs a laugh.

I'll accept that.  I believe I followed the Friendship path with him once, but I don't remember the details... dialogue snippets from many, many Rivalry playthroughs have been burned into my mind.

It's a fascinating observation that the anti-mage faction's members are far, far more in love with the idea of hurting people in various ways, to the point of outright salivating over it in many case.

He's immune to it. You can stop having creepy rape fantasies now.

lol... whoa... this wasn't even my idea.  I know he's immune which is why I didn't say anything about Tranquility before now... *shrugs*

Remember Awakening Anders?

"Wouldn't it be awesome to live in Tevinter?"

This isn't a new thing with him.

I just assumed the whole harem thing was his joking.

In *MY* mage fantasy harem, they're all there willingly!

*blinks*

What?

Tranquility and rape aren't the same thing just because the first one makes the second easier.

Yep, he was always like that:

"There has to be a better way.

Tevinter has one."

Which is why I believe the greatest thing we could do is give Anders to the Qunari.

Best ending for everyone.

It doesn't do that. Tranquil still have free will.

Yeah I'm not fond of Anders on friendship. At least on rivalry I pity him because he's realized he made a huge mistake (also why the friendship dialogue overriding on the save the mages upsets me. All those lessons he learned go out the window because I decided to help the mages? OFFS). On friendship he's just annoying and really unlikable to me.

Still more than he deserves.

XD

As long as he stays dead I'm good. One Leliana is quite enough.

Every Circle mage is told in advance that those are the rules.  In a monarchy, or any non-democratic government really, the peasants have no say in what laws they must follow, but are still subject to punishment according to those laws.  This is the "agreement" of which I speak:  the social compact that all citizens and rulers are bound by until one side or the other breaks it.  Unless the government is democratic, citizens do not need to approve of the law... they either follow it or rebel, and should expect positive and negative consequences for either choice.

It is a mockery to speak of an "agreement" if there is none. It is a mockery to take recourse to the law if the matter of contention is the question of whether the law is unjust.

Also, that I can expect consequences has no bearing on whether I find those justified. Your reasoning can be used to justify any sort of oppression. And you're using it exactly for that. Cow a group into submission and then justify any action you take against them for breaking a law you forced them to accept with their "agreement", that's political propaganda at its best.

Just for reference, making jabs at users or users by association generally isn't a good idea and probably goes against the 'treat other users with civility' and is one of the quickest ways locks happen.

Tranquility and rape aren't the same thing just because the first one makes the second easier.

Horrendous violations of personal sanctity leaving scars that are difficult if not impossible to heal, the possibility of which is frequently gleefully cackled about? It's in the same realm as rape and torture, to be sure.

Kind of.

Tranquil still have free will but no emotions or desires.

So while they might not want pain or to die or like being called an automaton (because it's wrong).

They wouldn't object to doing anything because they have no reason to not do anything as long as it's not physically painful or harmful.

"Tranquil, jump in that fire."

"No."

"Tranquil, go scrub all the toilets."

"Okay."

"Tranquil, have sex with me."

"Okay."

Do you not understand the concept of a non-democratic system or do you simply oppose it?  If it's the latter, then please understand that your objection does not change how the Circles, and all other governments in Thedas, are run.
