Feel free to talk about what new race you'd like to see cross the sea.
Here are some of my ideas.
A cat like race.
A mouse/rat race
Bird people

What were the Fex supposed to be again?

I'm going plank here. Who are the Fex?

A sentient species that lived on par-vollen before the qunari showed up. That's pretty much all the info we got.
I would love to see Rakasha or Beholder like . Although...um...you can't play as one . ![]()
Holy crap, those pictures are all so freaking cute.
But generally, I don't go in for anthropomorphic fantasy races. I don't HATE them, per se, they just don't hit the sweet spot (generally).
I'm not sure I see room in the lore for another race... seems pretty set.
He said across the sea....so in the world outta there ! Not just something you can play ![]()
Something like the Argonians

Gaider mentioned them here http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/9386107 at about 6 minutes and 20 seconds in.
Why would they have to be animal like?
because why not?
Maybe cose...if they look humans like..either its a mutated one or a sub-human ?
I want to see a race that kinda look like the qunari but more bug like and are the Qun construction workers or something, so like their slaves. but not the ones they destroy the minds of like they do prisoners.
Too many like
and if they are bug................how can they still look Qunari ? Unless you mean a mix ?

I thought the writers said construction workers was just one of the female qunari jobs. So that might be out.
The Fex are probably all entirely taken over by the qun, since they lived on par vollen but got taken over by the qunari. So you could have something similar.
Penguin people.
Spoiler
I don't know why, but I'm oddly okay with this.
Penguin people.
The Penguin pirates in Legend of Mana were pretty great!
Anyways, I think I would be fine if they introduced more races on Thedas, though I'd prefer them to not be anthropomorphic animals/animal-based (besides the Fex, assuming they even want to go down that route); I don't hate them, sometimes I like them, though they're usually a pretty hit-and-miss kind of thing. Usually having one anthropomorphic race leads to a slippery scale of "well of why have x, why not y?", and you get more than you bargained for.
I'd love to see more races like the Qunari, though. The Qunari have a lot in common with other fantasy races, I think -- for some reason they've always remind me of Tieflings from D&D with their horns -- but they're also unique on their own... Thedas always does a unique twist on their races, which I love, but there isn't very many "unique" races made up in media anymore.
A sort of "sub-human" could be really cool. I'd also love to see more development on half-race children; meeting a half-dwarf would be pretty cool, and it would be interesting to get the point of prospective of an elf-blooded human.. And any Qunari/other race children, assuming that's even possible.
I'm pretty happy with the four races we already have. The areas of Thedas that we'll be exploring are already pretty well-mapped and any additional races would almost certainly be known to the world. Either that, or they'd be such a small, isolated population that they'd need a damn good reason for breaking with their seclusion after all these millennia. Even the qunari were unknown until they arrived on Thedasian shores with all their sturm und drang.
Any reasonably-introduced new race would have to come from the frozen wastelands to the south, from beyond the badlands to the west, or from across the sea.
And if they ever do introduce a new race, for god's sake, let's not make them Looney Toons anthropomorphic beasties. That takes me straight out of Elder Scrolls games - here are humans and mer, two diverse and well-developed species that could well have split from the same evolutionary line, and...um...here, go play as a random cat or lizard. Granted, they have their lore, but they never stop feeling like a tacked-on afterthought, diluting verisimilitude just to include something exceedingly "exotic."
Why would they have to be animal like?
Because If I started with fairies and centaurs I think I would have been laughed out of here.

I love fairies and centaurs. But I think any species that could fly might not be fitting for dragon age. So fairies...maybe not working out. Some kind of centaur could work but I imagine they're gonna be more humanoid than that.
I've always had this image in my head of something absolutely terrifying living beyond Par Vollen that the Qunari were actually running away from.
Like, friggin intelligent dragon-people or something.

isn't the resident theory that it was a Blight?
