Could be. Would make sense, though I haven't actually seen much speculation on where the Qunari come from as far as I can remember. I probably haven't looked hard enough.

If they got forced away by a blight why would they have sent sten to investigate the blight? You'd figure they'd have records.
I love fairies and centaurs. But I think any species that could fly might not be fitting for dragon age. So fairies...maybe not working out. Some kind of centaur could work but I imagine they're gonna be more humanoid than that.
Yeah, a fay like race would have to be wingless (example).
Spoiler
If they did a centaur race I just hope it doesn't end up looking a My Little Pony doll.
I don't see how these would fit Dragon Age, which is more about human cultures than alien races. I know the Quanari have horns, but that is about as out there as we get. The rest don't fit in this universe.
I thought the writers said construction workers was just one of the female qunari jobs. So that might be out.
The Fex are probably all entirely taken over by the qun, since they lived on par vollen but got taken over by the qunari. So you could have something similar.
well we know the fex are still alive and occasionally seen in rivain, but i was more thinking in their home land
It's hard to do fantasy races, mainly because everything under the sun has been done at this point. the Qunari are such a breath of fresh air because they are more original than anything else seen before, and it is mostly due to society over design.
You can make a race of sentient beings without being that fantastical.
I didnt say they shouldnt it just seems that anytime a new race concept is brought forward, it needs to be some human/animal hybrid
I would't call mouse people fantastical. The cat and the bird yes. The mouse is just cute and not used in RPGs. And, if DA goes down fuzz race path, why not mice?
It has at least one more. Since the Qunari took them over I imagine they aren't very big or threatening.
I'm wondering if they have mages or if there's another race that has none.
Them being beaten by the Qunari doesnt conclude that they arent physically imposing

When did i say otherwise? It just doesnt fit the DA theme, at least from what i see in the design of the series
I have an idea for a race that is sure to blow the mind. Are you ready? Here goes:
ASIAN PEOPLE!!!
Amazing idea right? I must be a genius! There is no way BW could have thought this up before me and simply include these wonderful and new imaginary beings in their games because there just aren't any real world examples to draw inspiration from. How I came up with this all on my own is a mystery even to me! Wow! What will I think of next?!

...Or they could announce Jade Empire 2....*cries silently in a corner*

Non cutesy not-totally-humanoid not even necessarily mermaids either (maybe a cross with Water Nymphs), deadly creatures of pure instinct wanting to feed off your innards; luring travelers into their lairs (cold, treasure-filled dark damp caves, bogs, swamps, marshes what-have-you) to feed their sisters. Preferably drown your first, tastier this way. xD Every "coven" would have a "Queen", the most powerful and de-facto leader & provider; the only one to occasionally venture out on dry lands looking for prey.
I can totally see a DLC mention/quest worked into DAI just to introduce us to such creatures. A possible Isabela cameo (if anyone, she'd know a tale or two about them). Maybe one of your agents doesn't come back from a mission in their territory, one of your advisors (Leliana!) tells you a story she thought was legend about these deadly sirens, and how your agent is probably fish food by now. Kinda like, wet-er, eviler flesh-eating Ardat-Yakshi, in DA!
