It was confirmed that the Lady of the Forest was a Thedosian dryad, and there are others.
I would love to be able to be a Dryad.

I am sure there was a game that allowed you to play as a Dryad... now what's the name again... Oh ... it was a Race Mod in Oblivion then ported to Skyrim(although a bit changed)

You aren't the only one , I totally wanted that hair on my female Dalish Elf
Final Fantasy did it
What about these?

Take the squirrel tail and mouse ears, put it on a elf, and then mess with the skin tone and we have a new race. Tree elfs or squirrel people.

It remind me of the Volus.
I don't actually have anything to add to this discussion but that mouse image is SO DARN CUTE, I had to say something.
And now I'm done *moves along*
We should go with giant dwarves.... tall dwarves.... yeah same height as humans, but they are dwarves..... (im being sarcastic here if you havent already guessed)
I have nothing to add to this thread except:
I didn't, I spent the entire time being jealous of her hair
So did I, so shiny ![]()
I suppose something could happen to the darkspawn which changed them from mindless, plague spreading parasites into their own race capable of having children without the kidnapping and broodmother business.
It could completely transform them look wise, pretty them up or make them more monstrous looking.
Also, I kinda dug the Ghast from MOTA. Would love to see something more on them.
Yeah the Ghasts entry on sentience is such BS. They wear clothes, design weapons, organize, use melee and ranged weaponry. Just because they don't speak in the same way/language as everybody else is so not a deciding factor on their sentience. They cannot do what they do and not be sentient. I have trouble believing anyone really truly did try to communicate with them.
I'd rather the Fex remain a mystery or of little consequence but if not don't have them be a new race, just one of the current ones. Either a different subgroup of Elves or better yet surface Dwarves. No need for something totally new, just tweak what we already have to add more depth and nuance to the world. A kind of woodland(or rather rainforest) or surface dwarf race would be interesting, basically a play on gnomes or halflings, but not, and maybe they could use magic since they never had a history of lyrium exposure. When and why did the two Dwarven societies diverge, and remain rather primitive culturally and technologically compared to the industrious cousins, what does that mean for the rest of the world and other races who many have offshoots elsewhere in the world.
Cross Species I would also like a new set of human cultures and maybe elves starting new cultures breaking away from both dalish and the city elves maybe elf blooded humans start to go up in numbers and it would create a new culture by being seen as outcasts from both races.
Just wanted to say I doubt there will be new playable races. We have already hit the traditional areas:
Strong and short and defensive-Dwarves
Magically inclined and dexterious-Elves
Average-Humans
Big tall barbarian types-Qunari.
Though I say that, I could actually possibly see us playing or having a party member who is an Avvar at some point.
I sure wish someone from bioware would post a fake pic so people can instantly start developing their newest sexual fetish and argue over who gets to **** it. and then they come back and say the character is not romanceable and has no sexual organs of any kind. Asexual reproduction. I KNOW theres at least 1 person from bioware that would get a kick out of that.
Trying to get into the spirit of things, so how about an offshoot of the dwarven race that has preserved the ancient, forgotten practices hinted at in the Primeval Thaig? They could have retreated deep into the earth and sealed the paths behind them, potentially evolving into an offshoot due to their isolation and ritualistic practices involving lyrium.

Wait , Avvar? what's that? i did read the whole lore of Dragon Age(book too) but i never saw that being mentioned.
I believe, and someone correct me if I am wrong, that the Avvar Barbarians are going to be in the new DA:I game.

They were in the new demo. Look for the guy in the fur hood that was on the statues in DAO.
Oh now that i got a good look at that again i saw him

I could see that happening. They could have an immunity to red lyrium and the powers of the red templars, it could be a a fun sister race to the dwarfs. I could see them having a cross warrior mage or rouge mage class. Oh, fun idea instead of a just an immunity they could a hive mind with the red lyrium.
