I could see that happening. They could have an immunity to red lyrium and the powers of the red templars, it could be a a fun sister race to the dwarfs. I could see them having a cross warrior mage or rouge mage class. Oh, fun idea instead of a just an immunity they could a hive mind with the red lyrium.

I'm a bit more curious as to why the Dwarves ended up underground in the first place. Realistically due to their virtually identical physical make up to Elves and Humans and Qunari, barring size and everything they are all related in some way, especially since they can procreate with on another, at least the Humans/Elves/Dwarves. So if they were born not by some divine creation, but evolution of some type, and broke off from whatever primordial race all the known races came from eons past, what drove them to go underground so long ago? Did the Elves persecute them, did Red Lyrium draw them there, or the Old Gods? Maybe some other catastrophe or force. How did an entire race of people decide to go completely underground and shun the surface entirely? Such migration doesn't just happen by chance or at random.

I greatly enjoy anthropology and it's one reason I've enjoyed DA so much, because it definitely feels like BioWare has thought this kind of stuff out, even if we haven't seen all the information, they at least have rough outline of it somewhere.

I think the only race missing from the DA universe is the Tree Ladies, they could be the DA version of the Asari, only green instead of blue.  And I'd like the option to play as one also, next game.  That would be really awesome.

You mean Lady of the forest?

If we're playing tree people I'd rather play a rhyming tree.

Would really like to see some sort of cat race, not like the Khajit from Elder Scrolls, more like the ones from Final Fantasy Online, half human, half cat.

Also maybe some sort of underwater fish people like the Zora from Ocarina Of Time.

Oh, I like that Idea.

I also like to see a hamster like race that isn't as furry as it sounds. The space hamsters have evolved

I'd like some more fae people, like the Lady of the Forest, but not just as few random wild creatures in the countryside. I'd love to see a mini society of them living in the woods or something. That would be so good.

What were the Fex supposed to be again?

THERE ARE NO FEX.

Two lore books and not so much as a passing mention of any race or civilization called The Fex.

According to a conversation I had with David Gaider a few months ago, there are indeed Fex. Whether they ever actually show up is a whole other question.

So we have...

Humans. Stereotypic European humans and then the Rivani which are the "other" more tribal humans. Avvar are the Barbarian sub-set.

Dwarves. We have the Dwarfy dwarves of Orzammar, the Darker Dwarves of Kal-Sharok,  the gnome-like/halfling (Dwarf-lite) Surfacers, and the newly mentioned Sea Captain Dwarves in WoT2 from the West.

Elves. We have the High Elves (Solas, Abelas), we have the Wood Elves (Dalish), we have half-Elves (City Elves, think about it). We don't really have Dark Elves, but I'm getting to the Dark in a second.

Beast. We have the Qunari, who are sometimes referred to as Giants and Ox-men. They are kind of a cross between a minotaur race and a lizard (argonian) race. They are the main "other" of the series. The Kossith seem to be the more savage extreme of the trope, but we don't know, they could have been more cultured and magicky (High Elf style) and the Qunari would still not like them. We also have the Fex, who might fill the niche of the primitive Beast race. We've even had werewolves.

Darklings. Darkspawn, duh, provide a re-imagining of the Dark Elf, Dark Human, and Orc trope. They are the corrupted version of each race.

Fae. Spirits, of course, of which we have a lot of varieties. We have ents (Sylvans), dryads (Lady of the Forest), full fae (Cole), were creatures, we even have god-touched mortals (Wynne, Anders, etc). The Elves are even hinted at being a Fae race (their ears point to the Fade, their blood is better for magical blood rites, etc). We even have the Elven Gods.

Personally, I prefer what they are doing. They take the typical races in fantasy and strip them down to their roots. What really is the difference between a High Elf and a Wood Elf? If Elves are mutable, why do they really need sub-races, and not just sub-cultures? What would a new beast-race offer that the Qunari don't? There are a lot of races and cultures already in Thedas, and I'm not entirely sure we always need a new race, when the same thing could be accomplished by introducing a new culture of an existing race or by throwing spirit mutation into the mix (werewolves).

I'd prefer not to have a Beast race.  Those always feel lazy to me.

Thedas has just enough races, any expansion in the spirit realm is welcome though.

Hey....why not. We already have Cowmen walking around in tailored suits, going to ballroom dances, and dictacting over the Chantry. It's not like a Werewolf Advisor would be any more retarded.

How about a half dragon race? So like a reptillian.

Angels should be one for obvious reasons

Alternate elves just because

never said the werewolf needed to be romantic but they already exist in the game world and have been shown to be capable of intelagence and reasoning. they are widly useful in DAO in the battle of Denerum. Adding them in the next game or a dlc would open the game to choices made in DAO that where left out of DAI

I thought they barely could phrase things -- and that was only with the Lady of the Forest's help. The feral side dominates otherwise.

They are useful though... but I wouldn't say more than the elves. At least not to me, I liked the ranged fighters for the final Archdemon battle.

But I wouldn't mind seeing them again. Just not in such a casual way... like chilling out, with other Advisors.
