Wait... does Zevran's initial assassination attempt count? Because I've killed him many, many times over that even though he's one of my favorite DA:O companions...

I agree that a lot of players overlook companions' crimes. Luckily, I'm not a lot of players. I think being someone who originally recruited Loghain has given me perspective when it comes to evaluating and judging companions justly. Isabela for example... I'm a fan. She was my Hawke's love interest. But she is no less culpable for the Qunari invasion than the Arishok's recklessness, the Viscount's impotence, and the Grand Cleric's apathy. She does not get her ship in Act III.
Yeah. That's exactly how I see it. I mean, if you like an character, or you enjoy their personal story, that's you. I won't judge. But more often then not, people will allow their personal feelings to control their jugments. I for one, as much as I like Loghain as an character know what he did, and hold him fully accountable for his crimes. As much as I respected Sten, I know he is still an murderer that ruined the life of an innocent family, and probally deserves to die for it.

To be fair, Grey Wardens routinely recruit murderers, thieves, etc. Its part of why they're called the Grey Wardens and not the Golden Wardens. In fact, I consider recruiting Loghain into the Grey Wardens probably the most "Grey Warden" act in Dragon Age: Origins.

kinda? not really? it depends on your train of thought. even if he is out to kill u, he was hired to and ur are still to blame for the kings death so why would he care who u were?
edit: also i can kinda easily forgive someone whose out to try to kill me than them killing other people if its not personal.

Yeah, the True Neutral Inquisitor I'm working on would have slit his throat. Lucky for him my Warden was Chaotic Good who then shifted to Lawful Neutral by Awakening (Burn Amaranthine! Burn!).

My Grey Warden is just a merciful sort of guy who gives people pardons and second chances if they're not trying to kill him.
He spared Jowan and let him go free.
He spared the Blood Mage in the tower.
He spared Loghain.
He spared Zevran.
He felt for Sten.
Really, he was kind of a big wuss.

I do admit I think my Warden pardoned Velanna solely because he missed Morrigan and needed some disposable magical cannon fodder.

Yeah, Alistair's reaction to that was a bit disappointing... I get the fact that he was new to the Wardens, but he wasn't that new. He was holding onto an idealized view that had nothing to do with reality, and even threatened to walk away from the Blight at the eleventh hour... ![]()

One case I can think of is Isabela. When you do let her go with the book. I suppose if she was some random person it would not work that way.
Unless you count mother petrice lol I bet she'll pay for a boat to get that book far away from the Qunari and advance her agenda .

I'm coming to the realization that some companions aren't going to get along very well with Inq, depending on how polarized they are about certain issues. I'm hoping it changes a lot for different decisions. That way one time I'll be besties with one group and a different time with another. Should be fun.

I allowed the people that Jowan crossed to punish him but I let them know that he was helpful and remorseful knowing full well that they were probably gonna execute him no matter what.
The blood mage in the tower got a pass because I know that if I were in her shoes i'd have blood maged the roof off of that place to be free. In fact, I wish there was an option to have her join your crew.
After Zevran spilled his guts, I spilled his guts. My Warden didn't want to take the risk. Usually anyway.
Sometimes I let Sten die and sometimes not. I like the idea of him being darkspawn food but my Warden is pretty desperate for help too and Sten seems quite capable.
Loghain always dies. Always. It blows my mind that people actually spare him.
Ditto for Anders.

Yeah. Alistair talks about the realities of the Grey Wardens, but he obviously holds the idealized views that Wynne has. I feel like he'd go into shock if he realized Duncan became a Grey Warden after mugging/murdering the fiancee of the old Warden Commander.

I personally don't. I know I'm surrounded by a team of killers and potential nutjobs in every game. I just cared more about the blight, and currently the fade tear, to let it get personal about these flaws.

I already want to kill off half of the Inquisition, so yes, if given the chance almost everyone will be gone. Except Varric of course.

Loghain allied with the man who killed my Human Noble's parents. No way was I not going to take a swing at him.

Eh, I didn't blame Loghain for most of what he did.
We were the ones late lighting the beacon.
He also offered to free the Circle and help Jowan.
That makes him aces in MageWarden's book.

Well, to get back on topic. I'm pretty tolerant of most companions who aren't Loghain.
