As we all know there are 3 romances avalible for any female race 1 romance avalible for only elven female and 2 romances that are avalible for both males and females, and 2 romances avalible for male only, here is a list of straight biusexual and homosexual,

Straight Males: Josephine, Cassandra

Straight Females: Solas(Elf only) Cullen, Iron Bull, Blackwall.

Homosexual Males: Iron Bull, Dorian.

Homosexual Females: Sera, Josephine.

Okay so for me at least the romance options are really dissapointing, Especially for Straight Males, Why there are only 2 romances in Straight males section and in straight female there are 4, first of all I am NOT Antigay, nor Antifemales, But Really! I'm starting to like the biesexual idea from the past 2 games, then everyone were happy, exept Dwarves but thats a total diffrent story, for example if Bioware have putted Viv as a romancable option there were 3 Male romances and 3 female romances for the straight I mean of course, but whats done is done, and belive me I am not the opnly person that is dissapointed by it, and becouse I don't want this game to be delayed again so hey why not a romance dlc? We all know you cannot create another character another story ETC in 1month and a bit, Please bioware thing about it! make the romance options more equalliy, and if you do that already put another 2 romonces for both homosexual males and females and straight males, or put new romance but bisexual like josephine, for me as I've said its really dissapointion if it'll stay like that i'll just don't romance anyone, which is sad, I mean like, Antivans are not my type nor cassandra lol, and I'm sure there are plenty of pepole who thing like me, now about a dlc, its sad too to see you put a dlc for equalizing romances that we'll need to pay for, and I dont know if you are not doing this kind of DLC right now.

Romance options are finalised.

The Bioware team is not working on DLC yet, instead focused upon finalising the game before launch.

ok...

Your points have kind of been covered in version 'x' of the romance thread but understand it's a suggestion...

Issues with the suggestion:

Romances are really expensive - Voice Acting, significant animations.

DA2 had 8 romances - 4 bi characters, 2x4.

DAI has kind of 9 romances - 2xBi(=4), 4x single sex + 2x 'half' gated romances = work equal to 1 'multi-race' romance.

4 romances for each group would be pretty much double what has been done before, chances are nil I suspect.

Romance DLC?

I love the BioWare forum but taking it as a guide of market popularity would be insane, please don't do it BioWare.

Technically very expensive and to do it justice, some work would also have to be in the base game,

which is where we ran into issues over Day One DLC: Seb, Shale, Javik etc...

And Dragon Age is an action RPG not a dating simulator.

First off, if you're that worried about unequal options, then I would suggest that you try a different game company.  BioWare has made it very clear time and time again that they have no interest in keeping the majority, or in this case, the straight male gamer comfortable.  They are interested in making content for everyone.

Secondly, you are coming off like "all straight men" are the only ones unhappy with the choices.  I'm not thrilled either, but at the same time I know better than to let first impressions get in the way of my RP.  I might end up really adoring Iron Bull (as an example) once I get to know him.  I don't know about you, but I play the game for the personality of the companions, not their looks.

Third, I have no idea why you're against Cassandra as an option.  She's smart, strong, beautiful and has a really good heart.    So please don't dismiss that.

Fourth, BioWare (I believe it was Mike Laidlaw) said that there wasn't going to be any DLC characters.  So that's just out.

Fifth, the game is done, the DLCs are probably just about done as well, so it's far too late and far too futile to make a thread like this now.

Finally, here's a bit of what David Gaider had to say about straight male gamers not getting all of what they want (emphasis mine)

http://www.nomorelos...-it-by-bioware/

The romances in the game are not for “the straight male gamer”. They’re for everyone. We have a lot of fans, many of whom are neither straight nor male, and they deserve no less attention. We have good numbers, after all, on the number of people who actually used similar sorts of content in DAO and thus don’t need to resort to anecdotal evidence to support our idea that their numbers are not insignificant… and that’s ignoring the idea that they don’t have just as much right to play the kind of game they wish as anyone else. The “rights” of anyone with regards to a game are murky at best, but anyone who takes that stance must apply it equally to both the minority as well as the majority. The majority has no inherent “right” to get more options than anyone else.

That makes twice in 24 hours that I've had to break out that quote.

These threads need to start becoming constructive. Every single one of them turns into whine and blame fest, and I'm sick and tired of actually reading the "straight male gamer" in every other post.

At least ask what romances we'd like to see instead of making a complaining thread about something that's not going to change >.>

DA2 had 8 romances - 4 bi characters, 2x4.

DA2 technically has only six romances. Four in the core game and six with the DLC. While the core four characters can be romanced by either a male or female Hawke, Sebastion can only be romanced by a female Hawke while Tallis can be romances by either gender.

I think what it all narrows down to is that despite the four core romances equalling eight different scenarios, none of them really do much to even acknowledge that your Hawke's Gender. You could be genderless in the story and it wouldn't have made a difference in the dialogue. That's why I think it's more accurate to say that there are four romances instead of 8, because you're getting the exact same thing copied and pasted over.

Okay, I'd like to see a knight-type available to male PCs at some point ^^ So far they've all been straight: Alistair, Sebastian, Cullen, and Blackwall. My male PC always gets stuck with the dashing rogue type... usually promiscuous, too. It's just not very romantic. (Or the sad emo... not that I don't love Anders and my baby Fenris)

Actually Merrill, Anders, and Fenris all mention Hawke's gender (not sure about Isabela).

Tallis is a flirt not a romance.

Well, I assume Isabella doesn't suggest doing girly stuff with Male Hawke.

This is really funny, because don't we have a constant barrage of posts from "straight males" claiming that romances don't matter, and belittling people who do find the romances an important or enjoyable part of the game?  Make up your minds, people.

If you wanted to argue for an equal spread of romances for everyone, I think you should have stuck with that as your primary point instead of making it look like "straight women get too much, straight men deserve more" and lesbians and gay men being an afterthought at the end.

You seems like a nice guy and all but you have to understand why this is happening. For sometime the people that got screw over were PCs that were hetero females, gay and lesbian. The PCs that were straight male always had options and nice characters with deep. So to have a more equal thing and with some resources, I believe they found that making all romances bi or ambiguous would be beneficial to everyone, so you had DA 2 like that.

The problem is that there was a huge amount of people that complain about that, most of the mocking I read on other places were always "ahahahha bioware panders to the gays all the time, they cannot even make characters with preferences. The game is all about romances, what a joke."

There were other valid complains, about characters personalities and situations that come from being this or that sexuality. Personally I think DA:I will be a good experience if they indeed address or show in game characters with different preferences.
What I mean is for example, Sera complains about her family wanting her to marry some elf guy and pissing her off or something, or flirting and joking with Cassandra ...etc. If there is no hint on the game of them being diverse, than DA 2 approach is a lot better.

Straight white men have the same number of LI's they've ALWAYS had in a Dragon Age game and the same number as gay and lesbian players. You are losing nothing. In every other game with one gender/sexuality getting preferential treatment, that person is almost always a straight white male. A different group getting a bonus this time is not going to kill you.

I think you have to miss a flirt option with her at Hawke's mansion to get it, or that's how I remember it anyway.

I'm not sure I think this is practical or realistic with this when it comes to a game. Let's be realistic about this, tailoring a game to a majority it what gets sales and allows you sequels and the chance to expand your game to offer minorities some options. It would be nice if everyone got an equal shake, but real world concerns {$) will intrude.

When did 'white' come into this?

Straight white male, straight black male, straight polka-dotted male . . . the colour in this case couldn't matter less. Strange how that just gets thrown in there. Strange, and maybe telling.

This ^

Also to the OP. How about we wait until the game is out before complaining that we don't like some content?

To the rest of you: Yes the OP is silly. But how about considering for a moment that 6 of the 8 LI's are available for women? It's not a problem to me, but can't we maybe all try to see the situation from others points of view, and try to be a bit more understanding of where someone else is coming from? The attitude around here sometimes seems to be "I'm not happy unless someone else is getting screwed". That, or "Everyone has a right to complain about something you don't like unless you are a straight male".

2 for any straight female.....   means, a lot of women that want to play Qunari and dwarf will loose out on two....  yes?

1 for only elven females so that means Qunari, human and dwarf women will be missing out.

1 for elven and human women means Qunari and dwarf will loose out....

therefore, playing dwarf or Qunari female only gets 2 options, playing human female gets only 3 options (not 4), while an elven female does get all 4.

Should stop beating the horse about on nos...4 females, when should be complaining that elven females, straight or bi gets the most.  :P

Me, whatevah....Just quit complaining about straight women and complain about female elves specifically instead if want to say oh poor is me... when can play a female elf.   Sorry it is rude but that complaining reminds me too much of Anders, Alistair and Fenris.....guys that complained about them should look in the mirror whilst complaining about what I pointed out....seriously. If hated them three for complaining and whining, then quit complaining as well.

sheesh, making Anders look better about his mage complaints instead...

You need to play Jade Empire.  Perfect for you.  You would have 2 female, 1 male and you could actually have 2 of those female together. And you could lord over the female gamers because we had 1 male and 1 female to choose from.  So suck it up and get over it.  <sigh>  Sorry if that's upsetting.  I'm just really tired of complaints about romance equality.

I apologize, I lumped this thread into the multitude of other threads complaining about how BioWare is "ignoring" its' "main demographic" the straight white man. The OP seems polite and didn't mention race, I'm just tired of seeing this kind of thing.
