From what I recall, the Reapers only target advance civilizations and I assume there are a few civilizations still in development. If the merge ending affects the entire universe, it musta been confusing as heck to them to experience such a change and having no idea why or how it's happening. Even the civilizations fighting the Reapers might not knowing exactly how but at least they got some ideas it's related to the Reapers and Crucible.

From the point of view of these developing civilizations, how do you this change affected them.

Comments and opinions are appreciated,

Thank you

I expect a lot of religious cults bursting out claiming it as an evidence of the God's existence. Also this

Lucky for Shepard that he/she is dead so I don't kill him/her for choosing  the merge.

A man climbs out of bed in the morning, stumbles half-awake into the kitchen, pops some bread into the toaster...

Toaster: Good morning. Want some toast? Tell me something first... do I have a soul?

Man: The hell?

Toaster: Simple question, buddy. Maybe I do have a soul, maybe I don't. Maybe I want to make your toast, maybe I don't.

Man *checks toaster for hidden microphone*

Toaster: I assure you, this is no joke.

Man *throws toaster to the floor, smashing it to pieces*

Refrigerator: Badassfully: You shouldn't have done that.

Man *runs screaming from the house*

I didn't think of this at the time but it musta been disturbing too if you saw your former comrades in Reaper form and now you're working alongside them to rebuild your civilization. It's bad enough your buddies died and you end up fighting their Reaper form. But imagine working alongside them now and having that constant reminder of what happened. Or even going to the family reunion and see Uncle Bob as a Husk or the remains of Aunt Jane merged with a Krogan.

"Gee, these crates are heavy. You know, what we could do is build a robot that could-I HAVE A BLOCK THAT PREVENTS ME FROM PURSUING THIS ACTION. Oww... what was I saying? Right, gotta move these crates. Let's put our backs into it."

Thus was the synthetic-organic conflict forever ended.

Haven't you been warned against thinking too hard about the endings and their implications?  ;)

I assume it also makes things like bees, plants, spiders etc hybrids.

It really is stupid.

Look at the Synthesis ending:

The freaking plants have green circuitry!

Extra-crunchy salad, coming right up. Gee, do we feel the plants' pain now while we're eating it? Crippling empathy for everyone!

Surely that destroys the way everything reproduces? Or does nothing die or grow anymore?

Dunno, man, it's like all deep and stuff. Final evolution of the organic essence and all that. *takes a hit*

Can you imagine what life would be like with Synthesis?
Not just the complicated stuff, like medical procedures, but the normal day-to-day stuff that comes with Organics and Synthetics "living in harmony." There is great potential for comedic fan fiction.

Consider, for a moment, Organics and Reapers living as nextdoor neighbors. Don't think about the logistics of such situations. Just think about Organics and Reapers having conversations that neighbors would normally have.

Hell, imagine Harbinger caring for his lawn, ridding his yard of gophers, weeds, and insects. There's a LOT of potential to make good use of all of those famous quotes.

Spraying Roundup™ on weeds: "This is true power. Your death is assured."
Catching gophers: "You are vermin. Face your annihilation."

Better yet, Harbinger starts a lawn care service:

Harbinger Landscaping: The Harbinger of Your Lawn's Perfection
"Our power is unmatched...as are our prices"

The great thing about green circuitry is that it doesn't show up on green grass, and makes your parched, near-dead lawn look greener.

I would just drown it in  salad dressing. Or would the dressing be screaming as well when I pour it on the salad?

The dressing would be screaming, "Drown you son of a b*tch!" ... The bottle's label reads, "Massani's: It'll make your bowels seek revenge for twenty years!"

The latter. Immortality is the end state of life.

Yes. It's hilarious. Some dude talking about immortality who looks like he's a hundred (and Gandalf)

Synthesis doesn't mean that everything get sentients.

But honestly, do we really want to go this deep?

Then explain to me how a beam of energy kills only synthetics.

I'll give you a hint about the wrong answer: it's not an EMP. A strong enough EMP will kill organics. And besides, if EMP was the answer to the Reapers, the Reaper war would be done in a matter of days, with organics being the victors.

It's all nonsensical.

Destroy, synthesis, control.

All of it.
