I hate Biblical allusions in Sci-FI
For me it depends on how it was used. Like in NGE I have no problems with it, while every single usage in Mass Effect pretty much bothered me (outside of stuff like naming a shotgun the 'Crusader', although I guess that's not technically a biblical reference). I'm not quite sure where my tastes draw the line.

First time I see people bothered by Biblical allusions in ME series. The only ones that were kinda in-your-face came from Ashley.

Actually Ashley only says that she believes in an afterlife. She never says anything specific about her religious beliefs that could help nail down which religion (if any) she belongs to. Her being Christian is an assumption by the fanbase, as she never quotes from or says anything about the bible.
IIRC the only characters to make reference to Christianity are EDI, when she names Legion, and Legion when he acknowledges understanding the reference and gives the passage the name Legion is drawn from.

True. She uses the term "God" in ME3, not "Allah". Doesn't prove anything but makes it easier to view her as a Christian. And good catch with EDI's dialogue ![]()

If you want to perceive him/her that way, sure. It never occurred to me to compare Shepard to Jesus... Really, if you didn't mention it, I would have never thought to view Shepard in such a way.

Er shepard from me2 ia pretty much space jesus. She even has 12 disciples, temptation from TIM to use her power to rule everything, sacrifice to save everyone etc.
It's fairly obvious and clunky.
"obvious" and "clunky" are exactly what's wrong with these allusions.

You guys DO know that the Kodiak was shot down in london, remember? Cortez got shot down.
So... there is no kodiak on the Normandy.

There's also the fact that in Synthesis, the supposed best ending, Shepard sacrifices herself and dies for our sins. From that, something new and better is born.
Garrus even says it... if you can pacify the Reapers, we're gonna make you a saint, or something along those lines. Guess what happens in Synthesis.

He/She even died for our sins, you know.
But it's okay. Shepard live on. Inside all of us. Literally. Because the Crucible pumped every living thing full of Shepard's white hot essence!

I find Control being a better fit if you compare Shepard to Jesus.
Regardless, my Shepard was content with destroying them along with the geth and EDI. Not very Jesus-like...

That's if Shepard chooses to recruit his/her 12 disciples

Did all that really happen?
Yes, but some of the details have been lost with time. It all happened so very long ago.
Will I ever get to the stars?
One day, my sweet. Out there, there are billions of stars. Around them there are billions of worlds each with a story all its own.
Tell me another story about The Shepard.
It's getting late, but alright, one more story.
Buy DLC.

So does this make Kaiden/Ashley Shepard's Judas?
"You will deny you know me."
And then we get...
"You know the Commander?"
"I used to."
And...
"Shepard I don't know who you are anymore, or what. Not since Cerberus rebuilt you."
And if you count Horizon, that's three denials, just like Judas.
HOLY HELL.
DUN DUN DUN.
There's also the fact that Shepard died and was resurrected with the Lazarus project, the fact he went through Purgatory and Afterlife, the twelve disciples... I mean it just goes on and on.

Shepard goes through both the Omega Relay and the Alpha Relay.
Yep.

The three denials were from Peter.
