Celene is the ruler who make Orlias Politically and financially stable. Gespard just want to turn it into a war machine. If fact the civil war he brought on made the country weaker.

Ferelden is weak due to the Blight and would have struggled to keep Orlais out even before that. Doesn't matter who's on the throne.

I'm no fan of the federation but I'm no fan of Zeon ether. So many innocents died because one side could not fallow it's own set beliefs and another were zealots.
