I love briala. The elf situation is far different from the Mage one. Elves clearly won't be able to win any freedoms through reform. Their best chance at that, Celene, has shown herself to be a hypocrite. I really hope we can side with her in inquisition.

What freedoms? They are free. Briala apparently wants more rights for her city elves than even the commoner humans have.

Just like Mages apparently want more then to live like Nobility, have free education, room, board and shopping trips.

Oh and being able to travel to the bloody imperium on a whim.

Seriously we are in an era where: You are born in point A, you will in all likelihood spend your life in point A and you will die in point A.

Travel is a rarity unless if it is prompted by an event: Like a blight or etc.

Oh please. Elves are forced to live in separated sections of the city and racism is socially acceptable. Don't pretend everything is just fine and peachy with the elves, that humans and elves have it just as bad. Certainly some elves have it better than some humans, but elves have to constantly face extreme prejudice and a world that hates them simply because they're born with long ears.

More like the world hates them, because they keep giving the world reasons to hate them.

Sitting out a blight? it didn't make them popular, The Dalish harassing, killing and interrupting trade? Doesn't make them popular.

And this is just the stuff the world knows about, how do you think people would feel if they found out elves cursing humans to be werewolves, or summoning an elder demon into the world?

Yeah, more freedoms than commoner humans have in order words. Which is ridiculous to expect Celene to be able to do quickly. Of course, I don't see Briala caring about the blight of low born humans. On the other hand, Celene is trying to slowly introduce reforms ( a ton of quick reform are unlikely to go over well, to say the least).

I also respect Gaspard's desire to end the Game.

This shouldn't be a thing that people still believe.

It's kind of like that erroneous belief that "Saarebas are honored and respected within the Qunari" people like to cling to.

It's a vicious cycle. They're mistreated, so they lash back, and then are seen in a worse light.

Also, I'm purely talking about city elves. As is briala. The Dalish are annoying and aren't doing anything for the elves. They could help their fellows in the cities, but they choose not to.

Briala is starting a city elf rebellion. She will accept Dalish aid but she doesn't expect it. The city elves have it the worst.

And a rebellion is going to help how? By getting the elves massacred? Whats going to happen when word gets out the Celene's former lover is extending the civil war in order to buy time to cause an empire wide city elf rebellion. A massacre of elves, thats what.

The rebellion will be just fine with the inquisitors support!

I doubt we will be able to support it, it seems obvious to me that our options will be Gaspard or Celene, and taking out Briala will be what we do to put one over the other

*imagines Skyhold with Tevinter decorations, with elves hanging from all those spikes on the walls.*

Yeah, that sounds like the perfect hold for a Tevinter Magister.

That seems a bit Gamebreaking with an ElfQuisitor.

LOL, our role as Inquisitor is to close the veil tears which isn't served by helping those city elves. We sure aren't going to side against the whole empire to help rebel elves. Our Inquisition isn't anywhere near large enough to do so. Though we likely will get a chance to help resolve the issue with the city elves, probably deciding whether things end up poor or justly for the elves.

Your Elf Inquisitor is a Dalish, who believe City Elves are not real elves since they have abandon their culture. Dalish have no love for city elves. That said, I imagine we shall be able to resolve the elven rebellion on beneficial terms for the elves.

Spoiler

That seems highly unlikely, given that many people probably support briala.

And I'm sure not everyone likes Behlen or Harrowmont.

But the Inquisition isn't a charity going around righting wrongs, it was created to bring back order, helping that upstart is not the way to do it

Many people support destroying the chantry religion but I wouldn't hold my breath on that being an option ever in a DA game.

I have no idea what we will be doing. I was making a joke that if I could, I'd be helping the rebellion out and ensure it doesn't fail. I also don't think that bioware is going to force us into a situation where we are forced to destroy a perfectly justifies rebellion, especially when some players are elven (even if they are Dalish)

I admit, I'd return the game then.

I'm not going to be a party to a pogrom.

I have sympathy for Briala's aims, but I think she's overcomplicating and overplaying her hand.

You could say the same thing about how DA 2 ended, and yet you could still side with the templars and crush the mages....so yeah........
