You could say the same thing about how DA 2 ended, and yet you could still side with the templars and crush the mages....so yeah........
Yup, Bioware is fond of forcing folks to crush things.
...Like Cerberus...

The only person who didn't come out of TME looking like a horrible person was Michel de Chevin. He came out looking like a baws.

BioWare has always forced us in the plot

He spewed more racial obscenities then the Klan.
...It was rather impressive really.

I find his pretensions to honor to be...
Wow.
I mean, he joins the nobility by fraud and seals the deal by murdering a random elf to prove his mannliness.
The sheer kind of hypocrisy and self-delusion you need to believe you're an honorable man after this is beyond belief.

Elves aren't people ._. That helps if you buy into such a belief, the look like people somewhat, but they aren't.
Like Monkeys.
I thought The Masked Empire was confusing at first. I had to re-read the first few chapters of the book because I had no idea what was going on or why the two parties were bantering and fighting. Celene had some banquet, and the characters were doing weird rituals and jokes to embarrass the other party. And why?? It was very confusing. Once I read the Wiki background and culture of Orlais, it made more sense -- that Gaspard is challenging Celene's throneship and that in Asunder there was talks of an Orlesian civil war. That made the book make much more sense to me, so I easily breezed through it once I had context.
OP, don't worry about pronouncing the names of the people, locations, and places. They're just variables you can interchange with something else. As long as you get the context of the book and what is happening and who the characters are (as in not necessarily their names but what they do in the book, why they're there, etc), you should be fine.

Michel is an impressive mass of neuroses and justifications, I will say that.

Well, consider all the times in the book where he chants his own name in a fight. His fear of being discovered to be a fraud is what drives him in fights. But yea, I felt the need to shank Michel by the end of the book.

I will say the fact the School of Chevaliers graduation is "elf murder" solidifies my hatred of Orlais even more than the Stolen Throne.
Doubly so given City Elves stand in for Jews.
How old is Celene in DA:I, anyway? And does she have any children?

Mmm
She was a child when Florian was emperor and he was ruler back during the Orelsian occupation of Fereldan and its three decades later.
So mid forties give or take.
And no, no children.

I believe she's supposed to be in her forties.
I imagine I'll throw support in with Briala, have a drink with Gaspard, and get rid of Celene if it comes down to it.

So, probably already infertile and no children. That certainly discredits her as a monarch.

Her swinging for the other team doesn't help her case
Actually Celene is in her thirties. She was born about half way through the first decade of the Dragon Age.
:/ i don't know what the french words mean (they are french right?) I took Spanish in highschool (not that i remember any of it).
I sometimes have to google words and it frustrates me D:
Anyway do you guys know if Celene or Gaspard will be in inquisition? I want to kill Gaspard, i only read the first two chapters and Gaspard is a tyrant like Loghain.
Hey now, hold you're judgements on Gaspard until you finish the book. He might just surprise you
I mean I dislike him still but I respect him and some of his views

Yeah she is 36, She was born in 9:4 dragon according to Patrick Weekes twitter. This lines up with her taking the throne at 16 and her making peace with Ferelden immediately after her ascention which was in 9:20 Dragon.
Anyway, being infertile in Orlais isn't a big deal as it is in Fereldan.
The familys betray, murder, and kill each other a lot anyway.
So a direct line of secession isn't an absolute need.

Since the "regular" chevalier's probably did things equally as bad to cement their own "manliness" I find this statement amusing.

I mentioned in this thread I sided with Tallis for the chance to kill an Orlesian nobleman.

I just finished the book it was great
And I agree with most people at first I really hated Gaspard because he made fun of Bann Teagan and Fereldans in general
I really like them so that pissed me off
But then as the book progressed he became more and more interesting and now I'm hoping we will be able to choose between Gaspard and Celene
because I want him to rule over Orlais
Team Gaspard all the way!!!!! Celene really got on my nerves after some time
