Looks like they accidentally switched up the ES/MB icons...

EDIT: Fixed and relinked to new image in OP.

Earthshaking strike sounds like a silly ability  (Like other stupid abilities in the previous games, to pre-empt people mentioning them)

Interesting that mighty blow is now a knockdown.  "Crumples" is an odd verb to use

Whirlwind sounds pretty standard.

Would've been nice if they had previewed new - or at least previously unseen - abilities.

Yeah, silly.  RAWR I CAN CAUSE EARTHQUAKES WITH MY BOOTS RAWR.  Silly doesn't have to mean BAD, though.  If you're going for "medieval combat sim" you're going to be disappointed.  There are *dragons* and magic and jars full of bees, after all.  Embrace the silly and see if it's enjoyable in that frame of mind.  If it's poorly-implemented silly, THEN you can grump about it in the "bad" sense.  Otherwise, stick with "I don't like this particular silly".

It's usually easier to accept some silly thing if you view it as a matter of preference. :D

Also, I fully endorse everyone making the RAWR noise every time they use this ability.  RAWR.

Of course, this kind of assumes that there ARE any.  They might have gone intentionally light on activated abilities (particularly in the weapon-specific trees) viz that whole "you got 8 slots" thing.  So this may be It as far as activated two-handed abilities go--and passive ones, while vital and useful, don't usually make enough of a splash to show off.  "Here's The Inquisitor"  *picture*  "and here's the Inquisitor with the passive ability Two-Handed Expertise"  *same picture*.  "Trust us, it's MUCH MORE AWESOME now, though."

Uh, okay then.

And then you can have a stomping contest with the Iron Bull to see who can stomp the most enemies. Then you can write your memoir and title it "Stomping Across Thedas".

Okay, okay, I'll stop.

In the trees people have screenshotted during demos, we can see a few more apparent two handed talents.  Though obviously this is subject to change - in fact we've seen two different versions of the tree in different demoes it appears.

This appears to be a two handed ability

not sure whirlwind or might blow are any less silly.

Is your objection to "tears open the ground"

because aside from that it probably functions almost exactly like might blow

except in a straight line

That is okay, but you are missing out on the stomping.

Mighty blow is probably only silly in that unarmoured enemies should probably be dead.  Otherwise "Hit enemy really hard, they fall over" seems a pretty logical ability to me.  Animation may well be silly, but haven't seen it.

Whirlwind is pretty silly, but at least it still works on the principle of hitting them with a weapon.

I already know I am instinctively not gonna press the Mighty Blow option in combat when it's needed because the icon looks like Tremor from DA2, lol.

Inb4 it's an ability you start out with or have to pass through to get others. That would humour me mostly due to the "silly" notion that people would pass on a useful gameplay ability.
