as they did it in DA2

DA2 was a failure in romance. Every companion (except for unstable forever alone Anders) if not romanced hooked up with a partner of opposite gender.

It felt cheap romancing them as f/f or m/m knowing that.Convenient, but cheap.

One could say that, but how is the terribly skewed DAI position better?

I'm a disappointed you can't romance Vivienne. That said, I know most of that can be attributed to me wanting what I can't have. The other half is, even though I don't know what her personality is like, by looks alone she's just my cup of tea. ^_^  I guess my inquisitor's story will be one of unrequited love.

I don't really care. I for instance have 1 person in DAI I like, and it's allright. I mean, I don't care about race or gender, but one might say I have even more troubles with LIs because I have some other standards for them, more complicated than their gender or looks. So I could've ended up forever alone despite being so "open-minded" and not caring for most of the stuff that people here care for. What, I can complain that I don't like Cullen or Blackwall and since I'm straight irl I don't have someone to romance? Nope, absurd. I have 8 people to choose from. We all have.

People are just being greedy here. What, someone expected to have 8 LIs all for themselves? When someone romance all of the companions, he does it for an achievement or just because he can, meaning - doesn't enjoy it, doesn't really like all of them either way.

I can also say that Solas doesn't count and Cullen counts as half of romance, lol.

People will always want more. It's ok it's just our nature. But there's a line between wanting something and complaining if you don't have "enough", it will never be enough - people will always whine about something because you can't please everyone no matter how hard you tried.

I.e. people wanted gay romances, we had Zevran. People hated Zevran calling him too slutty and such. We had DA2, people still complaining that Anders who's not that slutty doesn't feel right and should've stay as hetero. Now they're complaining about Iron Bull being ugly and Dorian being stereotypical.

People hated Morrigan for being too arrogant and caring for herself. In DA2 we had Isabela and Merrill, who both were girly in their own way, and both were too-something girly (too-cute and too-slutty). And now they're complaining they wanted to romance Aveline! In DAI we have Cass and Jossie who represent both girly and strong women - and they're still complaining!

This sh*t will never end.

Oh look, another post that's both lacking in content and seems to be offended by the notion of feedback.

At any rate, we don't have the game yet, so I can't yet complain about quality. I assure you that that'll be incoming over quantity should it be necessary, however.

Yes. I am offended. I am offended at your notion that people should be so petty as to care, that someone else has more on their plate then they themselves do.

The ONLY thing you should concern yourself about with someone else's plate, is to make sure they have enough.

It's not the same people complaining for each issue. There'll always be complaints, to be sure, but DA2 was going in a decent direction.

Which Bioware has not done. Hence my irritation.

No it's wasn't.

I don't see how "Hey, we're all bi! We all love a Hero,we don't have a mind of our own!" but on the other hand if left alone there's only m/f and m/f again - is better.

Doesn't change anything, really.

The latter was unfortunate, but I consider it a relatively minor problem given that everyone was still available. Not nearly as bad as the horrible writing imbalance present in DAI as of now.

Everyone has 2 options, at least. I don't see how it's very different from DAO and DA2, where we had 2 males and 2 females to shoose from, basically.

Both Solas and Cullen are gated so you can't really say that omg so many people will have something I won't have. Racegating is almost as bad as gender-gating, you know.

Actually, in DAO, gay people only had one option each. And I don't like racegating either, but I wouldn't call it comparable because it doesn't pertain to any RL groups. It certainly doesn't change the fact that straight women and no one else have four options, writing that could have gone to fleshing out the preexisting romance options...

They have given you MORE options than in DA:O and the same options as in DA2. So unless your claim is, that in DA2 they didn't give enough, then your statement is nothing but you being petty.

My statement is that they did not giving sufficient time and budget to making the romance options that had existed before the deadline pushback as good as they should have been.

Isn't this just because of the characters? I don't think an Isabela/Merrill pairing would have made too much sense. And Anders/Fenris would have been preposterous.

Eh I got the impression Isabela saw Merrill more as a kid sister than anything.

I'm a straigh woman. I only have one option. And it's Dorian, and the irony is freaking hillarious if you think about it.  I also find Cass interesting, and maybe Jossie but interesting only so far to see it on youtube. For now, at least.

I don't find Blackwall interesting, or Cullen for that matter. He was creepy as f*ck in DAO. and Solas with his possible reproduction agenda is freaking me out. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so. So it's far more complicated in reality than "women now have more choices", it's sooo not true.

I'm also dissapointed that Viv is not a LI but it's not cause there will be more men but because she sounds like an awesome character.

They could've simply ended up with npcs instead.

Isabela/Merrill could've happen, actually, why not? Or Isabela/Bethany.

Yup. That's the vibe I got from it as well.

Not once does she make sexual advances on her.

Which is really rather odd, if you think about it. Why would Merrill of all people be a turn-off to Isabela?

I do like how she was all proud big sis moment when Merrill brings up the dirty spells with Hawke XD

Merrill's really innocent in matters of sex? And not even in the fun to scandalize Bethany way. Some people don't do innocent and sweet. Probably felt more protectiveness than desire towards Merrill.

I actually liked the CarverxMerrill pairing.  SebastianxBethany isn't bad, but the former's probably my favorite that hasn't happened.

How do you know the romances already in place weren't already fleshed out just fine?

The two race-gated romances are extra  the "real" split is 2/2/2.  Solas and Cullen were not going to be LIs originally, and were put in with the year extension.  Maybe to make up for ME3's lack of options for straight female Sheps.  I dunno.

But the point is, everyone has options.  You have options.  I have options.  Everyone has more than one potential LI.  Whether or not you like the specific choices you have is, of course, a different matter.  But that's a risk for every game.  But you are not "stuck" with only one or no choices.

She did hit on Bethany, though... true, Merrill wouldn't react as much as Bethany, but Merrill's not completely innocent either. Recall her fascination with dirty things...

Most of the LIs do nothing for me, actually. I'm happy I have at least 1 person I genuinely like (I mean like as a character and not just because I *can* romance him or find him the most bearable, like Anders). "It's something!"
