Because no video game romance ever has been as fleshed out as it could have been. There are always cuts.

I actually liked the CarverxMerrill pairing.  SebastianxBethany isn't bad, but the former's probably my favorite that hasn't happened.

 

Yeah I like it too but Merrill is just so oblivious it hurts.

 

Then again she's like that towards dude Hawke too til the love scene (to the extent that sometimes I don't even remember I triggered her romance til then )

 

I'm not real fond of SebxBeth. Then again I'm not fond of anyone with Bethany XD Seb's too waffly, Varric's a bro, Fenris is a hell no (and with my Hawke anyway) Anders is a double hell no. There's not really anyone I can see her with decently XD

Yes it wasn't anywhere near as amusing to Isabela as Bethy's scandalized "WHAT?" and she's not completely innocent no but I can see her as being too innocent for Isabela's tastes. I feel the same about Beth really but Isabela just has more fun trolling her.

Are you really surprised by this? Romance is a small factor in these games and thus will never be a fleshed out as you want them to be. If there was a major shift in demographic where romance was the big cheese, then you would get your wish. But I don't see that happening.

Honestly sometimes I wish there were no romance in these games. Because it's either not done well enough or it can always be added to. No one is ever satisfied. Always more, more, more.

But that happens in games based around romance too though XD you won't please everyone no matter what you do so might as well focus on making the best product you can til you're satisfied with it.

I don't find Blackwall interesting, or Cullen for that matter. He was creepy as f*ck in DAO. and Solas with his possible reproduction agenda is freaking me out. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so. So it's far more complicated in reality than "women now have more choices", it's sooo not true.

 

 

I keep seeing the Solas wants babies thing as the reason he likes elf females only. I really have to wonder why this is not something people worry about with Cullen. I mean, he's straight and only wants humans or elves, both of which he can have human babies with. And yet his potential desire for reproduction is never brought up. Strange.

Edit: Just checked a video yeah she does the babbling remark with a friendship male Hawke...probably is a rivalry difference then.

I was never interested in Cullen so I don't care if he wants them or not. He's still a creep and a big no-no for me.  Also, a templar. 

Everyone just assumed Cullen is simply straight because he didn't flirt with male warden, that's all.

Solas I found interesting but it was the devs who said "yes,there's a perfect story reason for him". It's not like there's a hundreds of reasons a man and an elf would want to deal only with an elf and a female one to boot.

I mean, we could be wrong, but if it's true I want no part in it.
