I've noticed over the last week or so a lot folks mentioning that they are planning on at least one session of the game where they plan on rolling the opposite gender at some point in order to romance a LI.   For many, it's for the first time that they've either tried a homosexual romance, rolled the opposite gender, or both.

While I've played men in RPGs from time to time (when I have a gender choice,) I've never rolled up a male PC to try a gay romance.  I just think that Dorian seems that awesome, so I have my second character planned as a human warrior.  I'm picturing an awesome gay battle couple.  As it is, for my first session (where I'm playing a female dwarf,) it's going to be hard not to make him my main mage in my party.

I'm also toying with the idea of, down the road, romancing Cassandra as a dwarf, so I can see her romance arc as well.

What about the rest of you?

I have a very strong preference for playing females, and even when I do try a male playthrough they are very rarely finished. I commonly play f/m and f/f, but rarely m/f or m/m because of this. Dorian has motivated me to play a male for my first m/m romance and I'm quite excited for it. I think I will thoroughly enjoy his romance arc. I may try a m/f playthrough for Cass as well, but I'm not quite as motivated for that one (yet).

I may see about Dorian's romance arc. Iron Bull, haven't decided who will romance him yet.

I'll romance everyone at lease once for the romance achievement. Depending how they do, I may romance one more than the others after that.

Playing a gender different from what I am in RL is my standard modus operandi. It would be more meaningful to ask if I will play an Inquisitor of my own gender for an LI. Which I have done in the past and would do again. I don't know if I'll do it in DAI, since the available characters aren't my first choices, but gender does not present a hindrance here.

Call it a weakness or stubbornness but I just can't play as a male if I am given a choice not too. I don't how to explain this without sounding silly but for me the romance options in DA are a great form of escapism that I really enjoy. I just don't think the romances would be nearly as endearing or meaningful if I played them as a dude. I'm a true blue woman's woman as they say.

Oh, definitely.

I'm going to roll a male qunari warrior with epic beard (Salit!) for Cassandra (because who else can pick her up convincingly? :P) and a male dwarf warrior with epic beard for Josephine. I love playing dwarves and can't wait to check out new shiny toys (qunari). And the beards. Did I mention I like the beards? :D

Yes, I'm very keen to try a male Inquisitor to experience Dorian and Cassandra's romances.

Eventually, I'll probably do one each for Josephine and Iron Bull to see if there are differences compared to female Inquisitor.

I knew before the final LI reveal I wanted to at least attempt two female Inquisitor playthroughs for Cullen and Sera. Since then, I'm looking at potentially three to include Solas. At least at the moment, though, I doubt I'm going to roll an Inquisitor for Blackwall. He's well outside my usual taste, so character-wise, he has a long, uphill battle to go through in order to make me want to try his romance out.

But these are future rolls - my first two Inquisitors are set on Dorian and Iron Bull, respectively.

Yes. It will be the first time I will play as a male, when we have a gender option in a game, and it is to romance Dorian. I have done same sex relationships as a  female in DA2 and Mass Effect.

I've always just played whatever the heck I feel like playing at the time in RPGs anyway. Genital type or preference in genital type is never something I really care about when it comes to how well I can connect with a character I made.

Thus, I've never been disappointed by what gender a character I was interested in ends up leaning towards. Don't care much about that. I'll get around to it regardless.

Rp as a female?  No can do, tried it multiple times in other games and  i tend to lose interest after a while due to my RP style.

Is it me or is that a double negative?

While I understand the general point this sentence is just bothering me.  :?

Perhaps? I'm uncertain.

I played Mass effect as a female once though I couldn't bring myself to romance anyone. Probably the same would happen here, simply because I can't put myself in the shoes of wanting another man. That is not a comfortable thought to me.

I just mean in 99% of other video games I have to be a dude...so sadly I usually don't play them.

Probably not. I like roleplaying characters close to myself. Perhaps if the game turns out to be good enough for 3-4 playthroughs, I may do one female run. For sera.

I'll probably try out some of the female only romances at some point, so it's pretty likely.

While I play Male characters most of the time, I always have at least one playthrough with a Female protagonist, if possible. Just to see how it differs, though, not for a particular LI (though Sera would tempt me regardless). ;)

I don't mind in the slightest playing the opposite gender, however I do normally play as males being a male myself, although I have a strange logic to my relationships. In dragon age I never have gay romances, not because of any dislike for it. It's just since you have babies with Liara I believe in Me3 I wouldn't want any of my characters to miss out on having kids either in the epilogue or during the game. (I relies this hasn't happened often, but an example would be my prince-consort Cousland marrying Anora, I would hope they will have kids at least of camera at some point in the dragon age timeline.)
