Displayed damage on character sheet looks... low? Would like to compare with others.

I came across this old gamefaqs thread where this guy talks about his warrior's displayed damage.

http://www.gamefaqs....rigins/56551296

That looks really high to me. I thought my character was pretty much as optimized as possible. All fade bonuses, pretty much the best possible +str gear, etc. There's no way I should be this far behind:

Me:

on PC

Level 22

86 str

Veshialle only: 78.1

Starfang only: 79.1

Him:

on PS3

Level 23

?? str

Veshialle only: 99.3

Starfang only: 99.2

There's no way! Did older versions calculate things differently? Does PC calculate differently from console? Did he have party buffs and didn't mention it? But even if that was the case, you'd still need 100+ strength for Veshialle to pass Starfang, which seems impossible if you also need to have 36 dex for Dual-Weapon Mastery. Arrrrgh!

If you guys could post your warriors' displayed damage for comparison, that'd be awesome. I'd love for it to be close to my stats but don't be shy - the more data, the better. Try to avoid party buffs, and include your platform, weapon, level and strength like above.

I always give the Star Sword Alistair and by level 20ish he is doing well over 100 with it. Sten and Oghren do a lot more when its doubled handed.

I thank you for your reply and input, but I feel that recalling in-combat damage is unreliable unless you write it down. It's hard to remember exact figures, much less accurately average them (which is necessary as damage is heavily randomized). Plus, how actual combat damage relates to character sheet damage is not precisely known. I've also hit for over 100 even though the number in my sheet is well below that. It's just hard to compare our "over 100" figures when neither of us know what they really are.

To keep things strictly scientific and minimize human error, I'm after a very specific number that's easy to retrieve - the number next to the crossed swords at the bottom of the menu titled "Character Record." If you have a high level save and a Starfang, that's awesome. Next time you play, do you mind checking Alistair's character menu and writing down the stats in my example?

Yea I just finished a run through just the other day. I will get the info for you post later. But thats what I mean the number next to the crossed swords was like 120ish by the end of the game. I think I had Oghren up to 200+ as well,

Though to put things into perspective my Mage (which I always play) had spells by the end of the game that were doing 1200-1500 damage per use.

Oh, that I'm not surprised by. I know Mana Clash can hit over 4k and I can see Entropic Death getting over 1k in stacked conditions. These character menu numbers are what's throwing me for a loop.

The damage guess-o-matic factors in some situational factors as well, like activated abilities, Haste and whatnot. It is not very dependable, though. The stuff was written to fake something that looks sort of plausible, no more.

Well, I wouldn't call it so bad as to be "faking" it. It's not going to tell how you how much DPS you're going to do, and the way it handles buffs is seriously stupid, but as long as you go in knowing what to expect, it's very predictable as it does seem to follow the formulas.

At least, that seems to be the case on PC. But the post I linked has Veshialle stronger than Starfang. That shouldn't happen until 100 strength, which is impossible for a 36 dex warrior at level 23. AutumnWitch reports numbers of over 200, which is impossible on PC by a long shot no matter how many buffs you stack.

I just want more data is all. Just an extra minute of loading, shuffling equipment, etc next time you guys up you game. Doesn't have to be level 20+; doesn't have to be specific weapons - I just want to see what stats and displayed damage look like on consoles.

Sorry I forgot about getting back to you. I finally loaded an old run thru... I was off a bit... Star Sword 102 (not 120) and Oghren was doing 150+ with two items. (I think it was 154 and 158)  If it helps I did "auto level up" most of the time with the ability points. (In Awakening Oghren was doing 208 Not in DAO)
