I will say vanguard just because I can't help myself but go charging into a group of baddies and always miss that one guy who is then able to kill me.  Really I don't have a problem playing any of the classes.

In ME2 and ME3 all the classes are pretty easy to play as, so I think of the question more as, "which class is the least easiest."

For ME3 I'll say the Adept just because in that game it plays out like a poor man's Sentinel. Singularity is easily the least powerful of the signature moves. All they have going for them is combos which can be done by every other class with the same level of competency.

In ME2 that would be... the Adept again, I guess. That was the class I had the hardest problem clearing the Object Rho waves with. Keep in mind though I don't use the Warp Combo in that game, I don't like the ideal of biotic/tech combos and in that game it's very easy to avoid them.

In ME1 it would be the Engineer. That ME1 Engineer needs to go sit a corner and take a long hard look at his life.

For all 3 games though I found the Vanguard to be the best, that guy is a champ.

In ME1, it's between Infiltrator and Engineer, but Infiltrator gets a clear advantage in being able to use sniper rifles right off the bat.

ME2 and 3 made it easier by easing up on the weapons restrictions, but I did find myself having the hardest time [relatively] with the Adept.

Throughout all 3 games, the all-rounder that always won me over was the Vanguard. I can't say that there's a hardest one for me in ME3, because the restrictions on weapons are totally lifted, with only weight to worry about, but there's so many guns and so many bonus powers to learn that you can destroy everything with relative ease no matter which class you are.

Perhaps I worry too much about weight restrictions. I always aim to reach something between 150 and 200%, but I've read in other threads, that this is only necessary for adepts and vanguards.

What are your "ideal weights"?

I always get 200%. The only classes I have more than one weapon is soldier and infiltrator.

Sentinel and Vanguard practically play themselves even on Insanity

I've heard Soldier is more difficult in ME3 than it was in the others though

I tend to stay within that range on a adept, vanguard, and engineer.  Sentinel can be but I roll that class as more weapon based that throws in powers now and then.  Soldier & Infiltrator doesn't matter as much.  Thermal clips are all over the place so really you can get by with just a single weapon if your weapon of choice is on the heavy side.

I'm attempting an ME1 insanity playthrough as an engineer, and It totally sucks.

Immunity spam gets on my nerves.

Same, If I'm playing a power-heavy class. For immersion's sake I usually take an avenger/lancer + predator loadout, and almost never shoot them. For a soldier I usually take a full loadout of heavy damage weapons, and don't worry about weight restrictions at all. I figure if my main method for dealing with the bad guys is to shoot them, I'm gonna have fun doing it, heh.

I can't imagine how the Soldier class is more difficult in any of the games. In ME1, it's the only class that can use everything, so you can hit harder enemies with a shotgun, or take them out with a sniper rifle, or suppress the hell out of everything with an assault rifle just fine, and have access to heavy armor. In ME2, you had the same thing with weapons, but now you got disruptor ammo and adrenaline rush so you could more easily hit the marks. And in ME3, you had a "caster" power of sorts in concussive shot and you still had much higher health and shields than most of the others.

Well, spamming adrenaline rush and concussive shots requires a low weight.

If you accept this, you may have a nice time, but sacrifice that, for what the soldier stands - not only in my understanding:

Capable of using the heaviest and most devastating weapons.

If you go the way of a heavy load, then you have a good deal more to aim, to look for cover, to dodge grenades. You are literally playing a reflex based shooter.

For a typical RPGer, who would never touch RTS-games without RPG-elements, this might be a bit stressing at times :)

Who needs anything but a Lancer/Mattock?

A Mattock with a scope is like a rapid fire sniper rifle. The Lancer is just.. awesome.

The Lancer is only available for MP, right? At least I've never found one in SP.

Lancer is made available in SP in the Citadel DLC.

Oh, maybe I didn't even notice, because I didn't play this DLC with a rifle-user yet.

I found Infiltrator to be the most annoying to play. I mostly play Vanguard and the style is completely different.

I generally found the Adapt to be the hardest and the Soldier to be the most boring. I love Infiltrator in both ME2 and 3. Engineer was probably my second favorite class in both games. I did half a run of ME3 with a Vanguard, but like others said, it did get old (even though it was fairly easy). I haven't actually done a Sentinal run in ME3, though I loved that class in ME2 (multiplayer has kept me out of the single player for the most part, though I'm getting back in to it now).

On the Soldier, I really think they should have exempted Adrenaline Rush from the weight penalties. I haven't actually played a Soldier run in ME3, so maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like this forces you to balance your key unique ability against the ability to carry lots of weapons and handle all situations. No other character relies on weapon variety as much as a soldier (even a Infiltrator can stick to just a sniper rifle and be fine).

When I play a soldiershep, I don't worry about the weight restriction of a full loadout because I don't use AR all that often; usually only when I want to snipe something... and occasionally when I want a particularly satisfying shotgun headshot. So the slow cooldown doesn't bother me too much. I let the rest of the team go nuts with their powers instead. Like Reegar said, "I just shoot things."

Hahahaha.  Talk about an underwhelming power set.  I went to start a FemShep trilogy run with an engineer, then ended up doing ME1 as a vanguard before switching to an engineer for ME2 & 3.

I've never played an infiltrator but based on my MP form (or lack thereof) I'm predicting that would be my hardest.  I suck with big single-shot weapons and I have trouble getting my timing right when activating cloak.

Infiltrator plays a lot easier in single player than in multiplayer because you can dilate time when you scope in with the sniper rifle (in ME3 it's a weapon mod... I don't remember how you do it in ME2). Infiltrator is one of my favorite classes to play in single player but it's my least favorite in multiplayer, for exactly the reason you stated.

Time dilation is a crutch, I personally hate it.

I make engineer better sniper than infiltrator. Stun them with Overload and tally those headshots.

Really, my geth engineer is better sniper than my geth infiltrator.

I've played all the classes. In ME1 the gameplay is just awful so I never got "into it" with any of the classes but from what I remember I'd say the soldier was the best with all that health and immunity ability. The hardest might have been the engineer.

In ME2/ME3 the hardest was probably the adept or engineer. They had no reliable way to restore barriers/shields for example and lacked the ability to hit really hard with weaponry. The best classes in ME2 and ME3 I'd say were vanguard and sentinel. Overall the sentinel was the best though; especially in ME3 when you can combine tech armor with fortification and shrug off most damage. It made it really easy. In ME3 engineers' drones actually became fun to use but they still had no way to hit really hard; same with adepts. Repetitive biotic combos could only get you so far. Even though vanguards/sentinels were the easiest to use they were still very fun, but I had to raise the difficulty. Adepts weren't that fun despite being difficult. They were especially challenging on consoles with the hotkey restrictions.
