Hello, sorry If this topic is redundant...

Anyway, I'd like to go to try the MP on PC (played only the demo and it was awesome) and was wondering if it's still alive?

How long do you wait to find a match?

Since I don't have the game yet I don't want to waste my money.

Thanks!

There's no problem getting a game, several thousands (at least) play regularly. You normally have to search only a few seconds for a lobby.

Also, the game goes on sale on Origin for about five dollars regularly. And you can play the SP in between playing the MP.

It's alive and kickin' you dont need more than half a minute to find a match and that's the worst case scenario, usualy 3-4 second (at least for me)
And as for hosting I cant remember the last time I had to wait for more than a minute for someone to enter my lobby.

And please, and really I'm not joking about this, find a rulebook or a strategy guide for the multiplayer so you dont end up a useless peace of *ss on higher dificulties. It's not that hard to find and your teammates will be thankfull when ***t starts going down, also a great way to spend while the game is downloading ;)

Two things:   1)  Spend your money and get the game.  You're going to love it !!   A few bucks well spent. SP is great too (well, except maybe the ending).  2)  Check out the ME3 Multiplayer Resource Library on this forum for a wealth of tips and knowledge to get you started.

I always have trouble getting people to land in my lobbies (I've waited 10 minutes and gotten nothing before!) but I never have trouble finding matches to play. ME3 matchmaker just doesn't like me for some reason. How am I supposed to play my Vanguards if it won't put anyone in my lobby? :(

But yes, it's easy to find matches no matter the time of day, I find.

Ok, thanks, you've swayed me into buying :).

Whoa, didn't see that coming. It sounds promising and challenging if I need to that.

See you in-game :).

It's not that technical unless you want to be really good. Just don't try Gold and Platinum when you have no consumables and only crappy weapons. Start on bronze and move up as you feel more comfortable. Silver difficulty is apparently the equivalent of Insanity difficulty on SP, so let that be your warning.

Not quite true.

N/A=Narrative

Bronze=Normal
Silver=Hardcore
Gold=Insanity

Platinum=N/A

I've seen some talk about how Silver is more like Insanity but the actual numbers/multipliers/shieldgates/etc in each respective difficulty are matched as above.

To Branko...

I play on PC regularly albeit inconsistently. Never have troubles getting into lobbies in the three lower difficulties. Finding a decent platinum lobby that isn't doomed to failure can be somewhat time consuming though. Hosting can take about 10-20 minutes depending, but starting the game fresh you won't have any troubles finding people in Bronze/Silver.

Just going to reiterate Swoop's mention of the Resource Library. Don't get bogged down in it, have fun with the game, but definitely keep it in mind. There are a great, great, deal of hidden things. One thing to consider is that there are quite a few bugs in the game. Now that support has ended, every bug in effect became part of the rules system. Some of them are rather interesting, some you just want to be aware of so you don't waste your time or effort.

Ie. Taking Rank 6B (!00% more tech burst dmg) in Snap Freeze on the Paladin is a waste of effort if you've already taken 4B (Reach). If you take 4A you automagically get 6B as well.

I would somewhat disagree with Shinobu, and definitely with Dala Kaar, based on my own personal experience. I don't know how it is from a numbers standpoint, but based on playing...

I played Insanity my first playthrough of ME3, and my first few rounds of Bronze were still a shock to me. Bronze as Normal? Definitely no. Normal would have been a joke when I first picked up the game, whereas Bronze was still challenging to me. It was a lot more intense than most any of the SP battles, perhaps mainly because there is no pause. YMMV if you don't ever pause anyway.

After getting over the initial differences, I would rate Silver somewhat close to Insanity. It still killed me a lot when I first started it, after multiple ME3 Insanity playthroughs and a score of hours in Bronze.

Insofar as the numbers are concerned here's an idea of where I got my breakdown from...

http://masseffect.wi...(Mass_Effect_3)

Here's an example taken off the wiki.

Shepard and player characters in multiplayer receive a slightly different version of the gate effect on both their shield/barrier and health. Instead of a reduction in the "excess" damage that would have bypassed barrier/shield, players gain a temporary immunity to any damage once their shields/barrier is depleted ("shield gate") or they hit 5% remaining health ("health gate"). This invulnerability is dependent on difficulty and lasts as follows:

  • Narrative: 1.0 seconds
  • Casual: .75 seconds
  • Normal/Bronze: .5 seconds
  • Hardcore/Silver: .25 seconds
  • Insanity/Gold: .1 seconds
  • Platinum: .01 seconds

Insofar as personal opinion goes, I'd probably say Silver is similar to Insanity as well however; but if we're going off opinion I'd say SP and MP are so different there's not much use in comparisons in the first place. Most of your instincts in SP will be fatally wrong in MP; regardless of difficulty.

That I definitely agree with. I got so confused without pause in MP, and going back to SP I feel wrong with vanilla human dodge and no gear bonuses. And fewer weapons.

Doesnt work for me. Search for games can last very very long no matter of game difficulty. Sigh...

Maybe it is some king of bug?

Did you install all the free multiplayer DLC? You can only get matched with people who have the exact same multiplayer DLCs. They're all free. If you already have them and it's still not connecting, try searching, hitting cancel, and immediately searching again.

What crashsuit said, but also have you checked that Windows Firewall is allowing ME3 through?

I recently had a strange moment when WF would only allow ME3 traffic from my home network, but Windows had spontaneously decided that my home network was a public network and so blocked access.

TL;DR - check your firewall settings and make sure there's an exception for ME3

Yeah, all DLC installed. Tried "cancel" and immidiate search - it worked from time to time but not always.

WF disabled, got Kaspersky Internet Security - all proper authorization for ME3 is granted there.

Got any more ideas to check?

When the search takes a long time (longer than a half minute, say) I cancel out and force a fresh connection to the EA servers by loading the leaderboards and navigating to the top. Then resume search. A known working alternative is to open the Store page and navigate through the different packs, then back out (you don't need to buy anything) and search again.

Tried all of above for 30 minutes. Unsuccessfull. Thoughts?

BTW I hope only Multiplayer DLC counts .. I do not have "The Final Houir of ME3" DLC only.

Only MP DLC is needed. Sounds like a firewall problem. Try checking that ME3 has a firewall exception and that your router has PnP enabled.

You were right friend, thx. It IS a firewall problem. Fixed. Its not enough in Kaspersy Internet Security to just add me3 and origin to "trusted" programs,

Just in case - if someone expirience that kind of problem check links above how to solve it.

Glad you were able to find a fix - does this mean that you can play now? Add the rest of us and you'll have someone to play with too  :)

Hi people. I am really struggling to find any games :( I played a lot on N7 day/weekend. But today I've only managed to play one silver game. Its really frustrating. I only get the communicating/searching for games. Then waiting a after a minute or two 'connection to game lost', but most times it just keeps on indefinitely 'searching for games' but with no results.

Really frustrating as I am almost 100% done with the ME3 MP manifest.

Running no firewalls or anti virus. And I also disabled those services in the event viewer.
Don't know what to do?

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: So after trying it all. What I just needed to do was restart the router... Now back in the action. :D

Hey! My buddies and I were a little disappointed not to have a multiplayer challenge this N7 Day, so we made our own. Sorry for any errors in lore ;-)

N7 Day Challenge

Saturday 22 November

Operation Cleanup

Time to commemorate N7 Day in 2014! You may want to make sure you have a couple of level 20 characters for this! :)

After Shepard destroyed all the mass relays, surviving Reapers, Collectors, Geth and Cerberus have forces running wild. Without a central uniting leadership, these enemies have splintered into minor factions dominating various far reaches of space.

Challenge 1:

Supplies are low in the Attican Traverse; send in 4 of your best soldiers to Pragia and use the little equipment there is to protect the colonists there (Pistol Round):

Complete any enemy on any map with only pistols. No grenades, no powers, no biotics.

Challenge 2:

Thane has left 4 children behind on Earth. They stumble upon a Collector Hive in Vancouver. Take your all Drell team to fight the Silver Collectors in Firebase Vancouver.

Challenge 3:

The Geth want revenge:

A small splinter group of Geth have hit the migrant fleet. Take control of the Quarian forces to rid their fleet of this scourge. Silver game vs Geth in Firebase Reactor, using only Quarian players. Will the Quarians squash their creations, or will the Geth finally overcome their creators?

Challenge 4:

Thessia Revelations:

The Asari homeworld, Thessia, has been attacked by numerous Cerberus splinter groups. Take an all Asari team to fight the Gold Cerberus agents on the Asari map Firebase Goddess.

Challenge 5:

Some of the most powerful Reaper forces have finally reached Arvuna, the moon of Dranen. Go in and destroy them, using any units and force necessary:

Platinum Round:

Complete any enemy on Platinum on Firebase Hydra.

Suggestions welcome!
