Does anyone else wish Nathaniel Howe was a romance option?

I'm nearing the end of my second Awakening playthrough ever (the first being years ago), and I have developed a bit of a crush on Nathaniel Howe. He just gave me his "apology" conversation last night and asked if we were buddies, which my Warden happily confirmed. At this point, my Warden and I had to remind ourselves that she was happily married to Alistair and not looking for anyone else. It was not easy.

I would have loved the option to romance Nathaniel in Awakening (Sigrun too, as she's just adorable). I think it would have been a truly unique romance with the potential for a lot of drama.

Anyone else agree?

I would have liked an option to romance the awakening companions too, but alas...

I think Nathaniel, Anders and Sigrun would have made for great romance options.

I think everyone wanted Nathaniel to be a romance option.

The Warden, Velanna, Anders and even Oghren, all have romantic undertones in their banters with/about Nathaniel. I'd bet that Sigrun could be persuaded if he turned on a bit of that Howe charm of his. Even Justice would be all over him at that point. In truth, Nathaniel should be the main character. Who wants to play a silly warden when they can bask in the majestic glow of Howe?

Also, that is the true reason why there were no romances in Awakening, everyone's' heart belonged to Nathaniel. (Even if he was not recruited.)

In fact, Anders lines used to be a bit more Nathaniel-centric before a higher up asked them to change it.

Here is how Anders lines used to go:

Not being able to romance Sigrun was unfortunate, so I can understand the desire to add Nathaniel to the list... the severely restricted interaction with party members is one of my least favorite aspects of that expansion.  It was jarring after DA:O, since I never expected such changes to the system... oh well...

If Awakening was longer I'd agree that a romance option would be interesting. There's a lot of potential there; especially with a female Cousland. I'm sure many of the companions have caught some fan's eye. Again, time constraints. Nathaniel, Anders, Sigrun, and Velanna all seem romanceable. Oghren... no. He fits that "buddy" role like Varric does in DA2. Justice... Do I really have to say why not?

Justice wasn't in a zombie body and learn to loosen up, why the hell not? Anders was funny, DAOA Anders is awesome.

Oddly enough, considering my loathing for his father, and the short Penny Arcade comic featuring Nathaniel making me want to off him as soon as I saw him, I ended up needing his services on my first run through Awakenings (on my Surana).  I had no rogue, he was my first option and a damn useful one, making me appreciate the abilities of the archer subclass.  So my first run I sort of fell into having him in my group by default and learned quickly to love the character.  He's my favorite Awakenings companion.

Yes, I wanted to romance both Nathaniel AND Sigrun.  By then, my wardens were committed to either Alistair or Leliana but my unattached Orlesian definitely would have been happy to do so.  I'd have even done Origins without a romance if one of those two were an option.  I can understand why they weren't.

Imagine my disappointment when the 'returning companion' in DA2 I was hoping for turned out to be Anders instead of the man who actually HAD been in the Free Marches at that time.   <_<

Considering the way Bioware fubared Anders up though, kind of glad Nate just shows up for a brief quest only.

I am totally gutted that he's not a romanceable option.  Gutted, I tell you!

i wish that we had more options in working with him to help run that city due to him being a Howe. Also I do consider Awakening has so much potential and it is one of Bioware's better games.

I loved Awakening - so much better that MotA, and every bit as enjoyable as DA2: Legacy, if nt more so.

No.

All my Warden's had a romance with the one's in DAO. Even if I were to play Awakening on its own with a new character, I wouldn't want any of the companions as a romance. They didn't interest me enough to have them as a romance.

There's only one being in Awakening upon whom I wished to lavish my affection.

I will probably get much hate for this but here it goes, I am glad there were no romance options.  Really I don't care at all for them in any BW game and would rather them not be in games at all.  Now I know that will never happen becauce far to many enjoy them and that is cool as long as they are not forced on me.  The one exception to that is Garrus in ME2 I thought that one was pretty cute.

As for Nate, I really did enjoy how the relationship evolved with a Cousland warden if you are nice to him and give him a chance to redeem his name.  I got the feeling by the end of Awakenings he would take an arrow for you without hesitation.  It has been a long time now since i finished Awakenings but if you get Nate high enough friend doesn't he go to Highever and atone for what his father did and help Fergus in some way or is that just a dream i had?

No, but he was my favorite of the Awakenings companions. That was a surprise as well, because initially I almost had my Cousland Warden hang him. I'm glad I didn't give in to that impulse on my first playthrough.

Well, she is quite the pinnacle of womanliness, but as she is "The Mother," I imagine she'd bring all of her children along on any dates, and I am so not a kid person.  :D

While I have to say I enjoy the romances, I realize its not everyone's cup of tea.  So, you don't get much hate from me on that subject.  I also have to add i agree with you that I very much enjoyed the story arc with him and a Cousland warden even if he isn't romanceable.  According to his ending slides (though BIoware has proven these notoriously unreliable) Nathaniel does indeed rescue Fergus from some bandits and the new teryn grants the young man some of his family lands back, which he leaves to his nephew.  Even if it's just a 'rumor' it's definitely a nice one.

I think the least problematic endings (those without drastic variables) are more likely to be made canon. I would like to think the Howe's got some of their prestige back thanks to Nathaniel heroics.

Yeah, I'm cool with the Howes being Banns even if it's a step down.

I would have LOVED him to be a romance option. But not for Awakenings, because usually my Warden is already in a relationship with Alistair or Zevran.

I would have loved to have had him as a companion and romance option for DA2. Replace Sebastian for Nathaniel and I would be one happy girl! Or heck, would love him for DA: I. *sigh* It's nice to dream
