ill post links down below, this isnt just for DAI but i am buying specifically to play this game as best i can and to do my uni work on so here are the links as follows:

Motherboard and CPU bundle; http://www.freshtech...ard-bundle.html

GPU ; http://www.amazon.co...06019046&sr=1-5

RAM ; http://www.amazon.co...p/dp/B0085IWXB8

I think these parts are going to be more than sufficient for what i need and to run the game, just want to know if any tech heads knew of anything better?

i would suggest an Intel Xeon E3 1231v3 instead of the i5, it´s basically an i7 4770 without iGPU for the price of the i5, but if you want to overclock the CPU (what the i5 4690K is made for), buy the i5, or the i7 4790K which is the fastest CPU atm for games. don´t forget that the i5 doesn´t have hyperthreading.

the GTX780 is a very good graphic card, but maybe you should wait a few more weeks, the new Nvidia´s are released very soon.
which resolution do you use?

edit: fixed some mistakes

If i can play Battlefield 4 (same engine as inquisition) with a r9 270x and a 8350 fx cpu at max settings, you should be fine with this. More than fine, in fact.

i would wait but i need this for uni, and i have limited funds and need to be able to spread the remainign 700 i will have left over 4 months, so i cant really spend much more on parts, what i need to know is, are these sufficient enough for me to run the game in good quality do you think? i will be upgrading in the future to a monster machine, but right now, will those parts be good enough with 16gb of ram and a 3gb gtx780

EDIT - i play in 1920 x 1080 btw

good, i think it will be more than enough, my computer has been long due an uprgade anyway and this is me treating myself to an upgrade to enable me to render my 3d modeling and be able to do all the necessary work i need to do as well be able to play the new games coming out in the best possible system i can afford at the moment

do you need a Nvidia card or would AMD also work for you? the R9 290X is about as fast as the GTX780 but less expensive. (btw 600 pounds for a GTX780?!? in germany they cost ~420 o.O)
or buy a R9 280X/GTX770, both should be fast enough for DA:I on high settings, but take into consideration that the 770 usually only have 2 GB VRAM.

do you want to overclock your CPU or not?

i have thought about overclocking but i do not know how to do it and nor do i know the benefits of the use of it, if you could enlighten me on the matter i woudl appreciate it. i would prefer to have nvidia as i have used it for years and have had no problems and the amd gpus i have used have always broken on me so i tend to steer clear of them, and the GPU im getting is £372 so its acceptable for me

the benefit of overclocking is simple: more MHz -> more power, but the energy consumption and the temps also increase, and "Haswell" already tends to get really "warm" at default clocks, so for serious overclocking you also need a good custom cooler.
furthermore any "current" (last 2 years - now) Intel CPU with more than 3GHz and at least 4 cores/threads should be fast enough for every current game, so overclocking isn´t really "neccessary". i don´t know which programmes you are using, but for all i know they rather benefit from more cores/threads than from a higher clock, and the upcoming videogames should also benefit from more cores because the "new" consoles both have a 4module/8thread low clocked AMD CPU.
instead of the i5 4670K with Z97 MB, i would recommend the Xeon E3 1231v3 with any H97 MB. (i don´t want to say that the i5 is a bad CPU, but if you are not going to overclock, the "K" version and the Z97 MB are a waste of money)

i guess you cant get the Xeon there?
anyways, better take the i7 4790K (no, i don´t want to confuse you) because it has a higher baseclock (4GHz instead of 3,6GHz) and a better thermal interface material, resulting in lower temps.

(btw i just noticed that i accidentaly read i5 4670K in your first link which lead me to say things that maybe just confused you, sorry for that)
(edit: the hyperlink said "i5 4670K", but it was the i5 4690K, same with the second one, it says "i7 4770K", but it is the i7 4790K o.O)

Would anyone like to help out a total PC gaming noob?

I'm looking into buying a refurbished alienware X51 (I'm pretty excited because you can just hook it up to your TV). Here are the specs:

  • Processor: Intel Core 4th Generation i7-4770 Processor (8M Cache, up to 3.9 GHz)
  • Windows 8.1
  • 1TB 7200 rpm SATA 6Gb/s Hard Drive
  • 8 GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz (2x 4GB) Non-ECC
  • Slot load DVD Drive (Reads and Writes to DVD/CD)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 with 4GB DDR3

Complete noob that I am, I have no idea what any of that means. Will these be enough to handle DAI nicely? And does it look like a PC that will serve my gaming needs well for the next few years?

Yeah, I did that, using this site: http://bf4central.co...m-requirements/

I mean, to my untutored eye, it looks like it has everything I need. I just wanted to be sure before dropping so much cash!

I admit I'm no expert, but that build looks pretty good to me.
The only thing I'm not sure about is the graphics card - I would have thought a GeForce ending with 45 would be quite weak, but if it has 4GB VRAM it could be quite powerful. I'll let someone more knowledgable give you their judgement on that matter.

Edit: I've just done a quick search online and it seems like the 4GB 745 is made specifically for manufacturers. It should be good enough for DAI, I think.

Other than that, you should be good to go. Your PC will be more powerful than mine, and I average 40-60 FPS on most recent games. :)

Hmm well for ten dollars more there's one that boasts a 2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670. I guess that would be better?

Since I likely wouldn't be buying an xbox one if I purchase this PC, I'm kind of hoping this will last me for the next 4-5 years and will meet all my gaming needs. But I guess it's hard to predict the future lol!

NO,NO, JUST NO!! this graphic card is crap. the 4GB is just an eye-catcher, btw you didnt noticed that its just DDR3?!

the GTX670 is multiple times faster than this GTX745, so yes, much better. but it´s hard to believe that they charge only 10$ more for it... link?

You must have missed the part where I said "I admit I'm no expert..."
And I did at least pick up on the 745 being pretty weak. ;)

Now the 670 would be pretty good, but I myself am running a 660ti and, though it runs current games well, I don't feel it's particularly future-proof. So I'm just a little leery about recommending it.

Thanks, you two ^^ Well, here is the issue... the one that has the allegedly better graphics card seems to have the lesser processor: Intel Core 4th Generation i5-4430 Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.2 GHz). And as I understand it, it is a lot easier to replace a graphics card than a processor. So I may be going with the better processor/lesser graphics card.

Plus -- I will be playing via my TV, not a monitor, so I am wondering... if a super bad arse graphics card is even necessary. I mean what if I end up with a graphics card that my TV isn't even capable of displaying properly. My TV is only two years old, but you know.

What I'm learning about this particular system is that it's supposedly made for gamers, so it's really easier to take out the parts and replace them. So that's a comfort.

EDIT: Oh and as for a link, I am just looking at the Dell Factory Outlet page.

I'm building a new rig in October (almost 7 years since I got the last one - from Alienware - never making that mistake again), and I'm planning to go with an i5 rather than an i7. I don't really see what the i7 does for me in terms of gaming.

no difference for the gpu between playing on a FHD TV or a FHD monitor (i assume your TV has FHD?).

marketing bullshit, you cant replace the hardware easier in a "made for gamer" system than in any normal sized case.
why do you even want to buy an Alienware PC? the few PC´s of them i saw yet were grossly overpriced crap.

in the near future more and more games should support more than 4 cores/threads. if you dont want to spend more money than for an i5, better buy the Xeon E3 1231v3 instead, 4cores/8 threads, 3,4GHz, no iGPU, of the same price as the top i5.
