Finite ressources mean a finite amount of support for any product and this one has been supported for longer than the fans and even BioWare would have dared to guess.

A couple of years of onlne support is not very much, many game servers are still kept alive for several years longer than that.

And the ME3 servers are still running, aren't they?

OP, I completely appreciate your frustration.  But it is much like anything in life--there are some who will always seek an unfair advantage.  You can only stay true to yourself.  I prefer to grind it out without cheating; I can't stop the cheaters.  Bioware will no longer try to at this point.  It is what it is.  I just try to enjoy the game in its intended form and enjoy the company of others who do.  IMHO, I would offer this thought to put it in perspective:  you are defined in life by your character and the good that you do, not by your score in a video game.

I have not run into too many glitchers because I usually avoid platinum due to horrible game lobbies.  the one to be honest that irks me a great deal is the FB Hydra hide on the pipes cheat.  I really hate that.

The only times I've run into glitchers have been on Bronze and Silver. (Knock on wood)

I remember seeing people do the Hydra glitch but on Condor. They still doing that or was it patched?

I try - hard - to share your principles of "it's just a game"... :¬] But I can't. Everyone have his motivations to play the game even after two years. I have mine and I don't deny that the other, if it doesn't harm me. Cheating is just disgusting to me, point. Missile glitch, one shot - one kill, I juste hate it all. Yes, people are people with or without a common sense and cheaters will always try to cheat somewhere/everywhere. My question to specialists/Bioware/myself is: there MUST be a not so hard way to restrain cheating without makers loosing their shirt. I just still wait to see and answer who clearly demonstrate the no-feasability of the concept of a sort of "code integrity checkup" for the host before each game. That should kill all type of cheating, end of the debate. I'm also asking myself if the game makers don't enjoyed seeing cheaters as potential buyers for their products.

While I understand what you're saying, I can't say anything other than Bioware isn't supporting the game anymore. They should be all in on ME4 now. Cheaters will cheat, I'm sorry. The only cheating that really bugs me out, is when people alter their weapons or do the missile glitch. Credit hacks don't really affect other players (unless it's a hacked lobby), so I don't care if people give themselves a little extra money. The store is broken beyond repair, so I don't judge those players. People that ruin other people's games, are the ones I do have a problem with.

Cheater will cheat only if they can.

1: They don't care - the game is out of support.

2: As soon as the MP game was put on P2P with the game files being on the host's machine, on PC, it was doomed to be hacked and there's not an awful they could do about it since the data is travelling from host to peer and vice versa with the only server intervention being EA's authentication server (AFAIK).

"it was doomed to be hacked and there's not an awful they could do about it since the data is travelling from host to peer and vice versa with the only server intervention being EA's authentication server (AFAIK)." Could game makers do more than protecting their copyrights? This bring us back to point 1.

Well, my advice: Stop looking at the scoreboards. After all, the best are not always the best by some silly challenge points.

Bioware gave us a great game, but it's over 2 years old now and in my opinion we can be grateful that the servers are still up. So, to some extent, they do care. And yes, it's just a game. Also, imagining Bioware giving us the message that "the players have the responsibility to flag cheaters" is just ridiculous. It's like primary school. "Mr.Bioware, I think Johnny cheated!!" Sorry, but I couldn't resist.  :D

I can understand what you mean, OP, but you'll just have to get over it.

Don't worry, I plan to sleep well tonight. In fact, after saying what I said, my chances are better to sleep well. :¬] Giving up... what else could I do, but not before kicking as hard as I can the bag of SH**. Thing done. So cheaters, just go to hell.

Preach on! Throw that game in the trash.

Bioware did go after cheaters when support was in place. We went through a couple versions of the Acolyte in an attempt to curb cheating. Bans were handed out for all manner of things. Leaderboards were cleaned. Alas, support has ended. You might as well be trying to go to a shuttered restaurant to complain about the steak you had there a year ago.

I have no hope for this game, I'm a few stupid but not enough to think Bioware will make a brand new software tool to make me (and maybe one or two other players on many millions, concern by the cheating) happy. :¬] But ME4 is coming - with a multiplayer! - somewhere in 2015 so if we want to do some noise about what we don't like, it is about time.

Like all the bronze level noobs that insist on playing platinum? Do they even realize that a level 1 Predator won't even take down 1 bar of shields on gold?  :D

The only cheat that frustrates me is the missile glitch, because it creates a game which is not fun to play, and I subsequently quit and thus lose my consumables.

People exploiting the store, or some high score bsn scoreboard... I could not care less.  It has no impact on my enjoyment of the game.

I agree with this. Some dingleberry having an N7 of 41504236528, or 40 million CP, doesn't bother or affect me at all. Missile glitching, on the other hand, is annoying as hell. (I got a would-be missile glitcher on Gold, once again, just the other day- c'mon!!!)

Yes they are. And it's a little tiresome that everyone keeps saying how amazing that is, when it's standard procedure (and good business) to keep the game servers running for some time after the sequel is released. EA only recently shut down the BF1942 servers, for example. If ME4 comes out in late 2015, it would be reasonable to expect that the ME3 servers would be up and running until late 2016 at least, on the basis of what is the general industry practice.

I never said it's amazing the servers are running. I said the support for the game is done. Which is the case, as the team moved on to other projects. Two entirely different things.

Yes, they are two entirely different things. I agree with you fervently that they are different things.

I also didn't say that you said what you seem to think I said you had said. I also didn't say what you seem to think I said, and so you quote it as if I said it so that you can disagree with it but the fact is that I didn't say it. What I said was in fact different, so that what you replied to as if I said it and what I said are not the same. Two entirely different things.

EA doesn't care about cheating in general

witness the fiasco that has been live tournaments in the Tiger Woods series

the cheaters in that game were treated more harshly by Xbox live than they were by EA
