Our characters are a chatty bunch, and I love that, but everyone has different posting habits, and I don't want less frequent posters to feel left out. If I leak a non-spoileriffic preview of what's to come - in vague terms - players can take party interaction - dialogue between in-party characters - to PM early and have it ready when we reach that part of the game. Now that we have more players on board, it's more important than ever that we avoid getting bogged down.

There are still going to be things that are situation specific, but a lot of the time, general hints will be enough. If you write it out a head of time, you can always go back and edit, but if you start a conversation with someone in a different time zone or with limited forum time in the game thread, it can take days or weeks to get through the dialogue. This will speed that up.

Coming Attractions, 9 September Edition:

By this point, everyone should realize that combat is imminent. If not, well, it is. After that, I'm sure folks will want to welcome Bartha back to the group. If you'd like the conversation to be interactive, with both Bartha and your character participating, please PM Mahumia so the two of you can have it done by 20 September, when we'll be picking up our gear at Tarl Dale's place, catching a little sleep, and hitting the road at first light. Or thereabouts.

Coming Attractions, 19 September Edition:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, it looks like combat will be wrapping up a bit later. Plan on assembling at Tarl Dale's house on 27 September. You'll get loot.

I like loot. :P

Edited to add: I will also only be around late that night, and not for intense things, so anything Tess needs to be a part of should be done during the week if possible. :D PM me, I like to write.

Do keep in mind that non-combat game posts are open for an entire week before the game takes another step forward. That means that the party would be at Tarl's house into October. You'll be back by then. :)

I get a lute? ;)

Seriously, sounds good. As a reminder, Tempest and Rael have a conversation to post for the night spent at Tarl Dale's house. :)

If Tempest wants a lute, a lute she will have. And that's good. Those with martial inclinations are easy to please, but those who prefer more peaceful interests are harder.

And I haven't forgotten that many character arcs need to be resolved at Tarl's manor. That's one of the reasons I'll delay until all that I know of are in. Kat told me a while ago that you and she had plans. :)

Tempest is musical but sadly she does not yet play any instruments. (She does like to sing.) She would love to have a lute but would need to learn how to actually use it. ;)

And that sounds like a Rael/Tempest character arc that you will need to work out through PMs. No rush. We aren't quitting anytime soon, nor even when Inquisition comes out. I look forward to reading about Tempest's music lessons!

I don't want to derail the preview thread, but this is the sort of stuff I love about PbP. It allows a lot more intense interaction than you get doing tabletop, even if the pace is slower. Can I see Rael and Tempest leading whole-party singalongs? Yes, I believe I can!

Tempest will lead a sing-along any time, anywhere, because that's just how she rolls! :P

Rael will happily teach Tempest music! And anyone else who's interested... Maybe we could get a band together XD

Coming Attractions: 28 September Edition

Combat's over and the looting has begun. Sooner or later, you're going to have to go back to Tarl's. That can happen as soon as players are ready to move on, but you should probably finish looting first.

The plan is to move out in the morning, but some players have RP joint posts planned, so when we get back to Tarl's we'll need to give them a chance to post before moving on again. Please don't plan on leaving Vintiver until I give the word. Spellcasters will need 8 hours uninterrupted rest to return to full mana.

Coming Attractions: 3 October Edition

With any luck, we'll finish up at Tarl's this weekend and set off into the forest. It took Eshara a week to reach the Fuldor's, but she was lost and weakened by disease.  You will be able to reach the camp in two days, with an overnight stop a a trappers' camp. While there, Beldin's going to try to organize a training drill, and some players expressed an interest in music lessons and sparring. You'll reach the Dalish camp the evening after that.

Guys, let me know when you're ready to start the morning posts. I'd like Saturday's game post to be getting the flock out of Vintiver, which will involve a trip through the market square. Most of the merchants who came into town for the Harvest Fair left before the killings started, but those who did not are too scared to leave. They're a bit eager to sell their remaining stock, however, since this area tends to get snowed in in winter and they're worried about bringing heavy wagons through the hills in deep snow. All of their goods will be 10% lower than the book value, so if a heavy shield usually sells for 60sp, it will sell for 54sp now.

Available merchants:
alchemist (potions, poultices, reagents, writing supplies, gossip)
bookseller (mostly history or religious texts, a smattering of natural sciences)
bowyer (bows, arrows, all manner of missiles and launchers, also a bit of a gigolo)
general merchandise (mostly, stuff for the home including tin versions of the potter's wares, clothing, you name it)
potter (plates, bowls, bottles, jugs, flasks, and miscellaneous heavy, breakable stuff)
weaver (she'll take your measurements for garments, but mostly, she sells cloth)
second-hand junk (roll 1d6 for the item you want. 1-2 means he has it, 3-6 means he doesn't)

Note that the only place with a *chance* at weapons/armor is the second-hand junk dealer.

The bowyer's... er... special stock will not be 10% off ;)

Sounds good! Tempest may have to be physically dragged away from the bookseller. ;)

News Post!

Let's get ready to welcome a new character to our group. Philomena, played by Kat, will be joining us shortly. Sadly, this means that Rael will be leaving us, although I hope that we can read her continuing adventures on AO3. Kat, I'm sure everyone is eager to meet Mena, so this would be a great time to post her bio.

Etienne will also be leaving the group, at least for a while. Sometimes things get crazy and we need to step back for a bit and breathe. Meli, please remember that you're welcome to participate in the Gallery and the OOC thread to whatever extent your circumstances and inclinations allow. No pressure, but a break isn't a ban. Drop in and chat any time. And when you are ready, say the word and we'll see how it's best to work you back in.

Ordinarily, I'd let character introductions be more of a surprise, but life's been crazy for me, too, so I'm going to spoil you a bit. Messengers will arrive from the chantry with an imperative request from Sister Arda to Etienne. This will happen in tomorrow's game post. Later, after the party figures out how to get the Dalish through the market safely without getting lynched or accosted by distrustful villagers, a particular merchant may draw some attention. I'm going to need some help from either Lorien or Ann on this one, so please shoot me a PM if you're available tonight/tomorrow morning/Sunday afternoon to work out the particulars with Kat and I over skype. And a bit after that, Rael is going to get a visit from an old friend with some urgent and devastating news. Kat, please let me know what your availability is on Sunday afternoon so we can hammer out a google doc for the RP.

Hey, folks, I need to make a post covering some harassment Merc encounters. Market exploration is fine, but don't leave it until I post the beginning of that. Once that is resolved (that's going to involve posts from Rhys and Mercuriel, at least), it will be Philomena's introduction followed but Rae'ls reunion with an old friend. After that, we'll have a free roleplay time to greet Mena and bid Rael farewell.

Guys, if there is *anything* you need to do in the market, please wrap it up. I will be locking the game thread *tonight* and starting the new game thread, "Into the Forest" shortly thereafter.

There won't be a game post on Saturday because it's happening tonight, but I would like to get the "On the Road" posts wrapped up by Tuesday. That's when we'll arrive at the first campsite. There are structured activities planned upon arrival, but there should be lots of opportunity for nighttime campsite RP after that.

We will arrive at the Dalish Camp in our next game post, which will happen on the 29th.

If you have any roleplaying of on the road stuff or random things, please post it at will. Don't worry too much about timing or continuity this time, as recent events have kind of been a bit chaotic.
