I'm just wondering, why is Dragon Age II untitled?

Dragon Age: Haters Gonna Hate

Lol I'm not a hater I love the Dragon Age games! It's my number 1 favorite game of all! I just wanted to know why they didn't title the game that's all; that's not hating.  :)

My guess......limited vocabulary. Dragon Age games are all about, and revolve around the word "ASUNDER"!!! This is asunder, and that is asunder.....my guess, and I would bet bottom dollar, that the word asunder is used more than five times in Inquisition. I think they love the conclusiveness of the word, i.e. "broken down into little pieces" just doesn't grab ya by the small parts like ASUNDER does.

How about "Colossal", or "Behemoth", maybe "Gargantuan".....these words feel like Dragon Age adjectives, hehehe!!! Okay, I'm just kidding....I'm being sarcastic, as well as clueless, as to why they went with something as cliche' as putting a "II" in the title....possibly a case of the lazies, or boredom. I think your gonna have to ask them directly......sorry.

I found out that apparently they were going to call it "Exodus" but they took it out and just had it as "II" because they thought it would confuse us, they thought we might have thought it was another add-on instead of an actual whole new separate game.

It is not untitled, it has a title: Dragon Age 2.

No that's not a title; Dragon Age I: Origins and Dragon Age III: Inquisition, they are titled but not 2. It used to be called Dragon Age II: Exodus but they decided to take the title out.

No that's not a title

Maybe we use different dictionaries then.

Depends. You know Dragon age I and III have "Origins" and "Inquisition" at the end of it? What would you call that? Most of us call that a title but two is missing it. Either way, whatever you call it, it's missing lol.

Origins and Inquisition are subtitles. The title of the first game is Dragon Age:Origins, not Origins.

Yeah but it's still a title and I just wondered why 2 didn't have one. It's fine now though because someone has told me that it did but they took it out.

Dragon Age: Exodus. It's about how all the female dwarves mysteriously left Kirkwall.

On the subject of absent dwarven characters:

I read one of the daughters of House Helmi was a former betrothed to Varric. For some reason she's a surface dwarf and a member of the Merchant's Guild. But they didn't get along and she's tried to kill him several times. It would have been hilarious to see her in Act 2. It would certainly have been a great insert in the Bone Bit adventures if you had the chance to relinquish all claims to Dwarven ruins in the Bone Pit. In return you get extra investments for worker protection. So when you go back in Act 3 some of the workers would have taken shelter in the dwarven ruins, if you chose to accept Helmi's offer.

It also would have been a great opportunity to further the Aeducan/Harramont sagas, if you could have a sanctioned Proving battle in a dwarven ruin.

Also the Merchants Guild supposedly occupies a section of Hightown. But you don't get the option of visiting them. Varric says the Rose reminds him of the Merchants Guild. I'd have loved to see that.

I dunno, I have wondered too, but I don't like Dragon Age: Exodus. I think Dragon Age: Tensions would of been a good title. Not only did you have the Mage-Templar war starting, but you had other tensions in there as well.

Lol ha that would have been fun bumping into her with Varric  :P

Yeah but I don't think they'll ever change it now, since it's done it's done. I would be surprised if they gave it a title again. Oh well, still a great game to play  :D

This has been bothering me too. When I'm just sitting there and looking at my game shelf, here's what I'm going to see...

  • Dragon Age: Origins
  • Dragon Age II
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition

It just.. doesn't seem right to me.

Considering what the game ends up being about, "Asunder" would probably have been the most appropriate, but that title was already taken.

Dragon Age: Secession? It just doesn't have the right ring to it, though I don't think that would really work anyway. Dragon Age: Kirkwall sounds too much like it should have Varric having a lot of Horatio lines, though that's not exactly far from his character already. Dragon Age: Champion sounds like a fighting game.

I love Dragon Age: Asunder as a title for DAII.  I'm now wishing they had used this for this game instead of on the book.  Ok, that is completely unfair as I have never read the book.  But it really works well.  It does what I like titles to do, being both catchy and revelatory of the games main plot point.

DA: Exodus sounds pretty cool, but I like it less because so little of the game actually involves fleeing Fereldan.

To the larger question, IDK.  Game numbering has always been confusing to me.  My guess is it is the same reason Final Fantasy 6 was originally called Final Fantasy 3 in the U.S. - marketing.

I always just assumed that production of the game was so rushed that they didn't have time to think of a proper name.

I preferred the title Dragon Age:Exodus. Calling it Dragon Age 2 gives an impression of a sequel to Origins and the opportunity to continue the adventures of the Warden. Instead of what your actually getting which is the next game in the series.

Exodus makes the most sense, to be honest.

It's ironic that the most spin-off / gaiden game of Dragon Age franchise is the only one that is numbered.

DAII: Exodus sounds like it would be a good title. Having it be the only numbered game is just strange.

My theory is ME2 did very well so maybe people would associate DA2 to ME2 and buy it.

II is a title...it's not a symbol or something weird...like "The game formerly known as Dragon Age II".

People like to diss on this game for any reason.  It's the whipping boy of Dragon Age; too bad it's incredibly fun to play;)

I'd say it was intended to be so and Dragon Age Inquisition would be named as DA 3 normally. But after many changes naming the game as DA 2 backfired so they changed the pattern.
