I want to burn any representation of a male-power fantasy, that cheapens women. Oh, and lets not forget the exclusion of LBGT in that brothel.

I know this may shock for you, but there is no equality in the world. So it depends on your view. Either you want a realistic and believable world or you want a world how you would like it to be. I live in Hamburg. We have a big red light district (Reeperbahn) full of strip-clubs, brothels and prostitutes (prostitusion is legal in Germany, they even have to pay taxes) If you think there is a 50/50 split between women/men and straight/gay prostitution I have to dissapoint you. There is no such a thing. You will find barely any prostitution directed towards any other group than straight men. Real life sex trafficking is horrible. But this is one of the areas in fantasy games that I can accept with as much levity as decapitating someone and showering in their fountain of blood, grave robbing, persuading people to violate their own principles, stabbing a helpless imprisoned man, deposing rulers, and saying outrageous things just to p*ss people off.

Realism?  I wouldn't object to a brothel in DA:I in outright, as long as the reality of exploitation and human trafficking is also included.  And your inquisitor should have a reasonable chance of coming away from the experience with a sexually transmitted infection.

Yep this is precisely why there should be a brothel, just because some people are offended by a certain piece of content does not mean it should be removed, if it fits the setting and lore then it should be there period, hell some people find same sex relationship gross, so should we remove those as well because they may offend someone?

 

If we start removing things just because they offend people we may as well cancel all M rated games, some pg 13 ones too.

I don't mind the ugly parts add away, the more content the better, and whether the brothel is a horrible place or not is up to the proprietor, so if its a PC owned brothel then the condition is on you, and if not and there is no quest that helps you switch management then just don't visit it if you find in offensive, its that easy.

In all seriousness though, Saints row is a parody game so its portrayal is devoid of all reality and reason, and humor is subjective what you find offensive others find funny, case and point the game sold really well and got praised by a lot of people as being hilarious.

Except mass murder of course. But I guess, this is just not ugly enough.

But yeah, it's a valid point. Bioware decided to go the Disney way in parts of the world they created. That's fine, but people shouldn't attack other developers, that they decided to go a more realistic way to potray their world(the witcher world is highly based on european medieval) just because they dont' like some parts of the reality.

I really enjoyed SR3, but Zimos and the whole "carry prostitutes in the back of a truck and decide who should have them" are certainly not the fondest memories I have of the game.

Why should we, as loyal fans of the DA franchise and Bioware, limit ourselves to just ONE brothel? The developers claim that Inquisition will take it to a whole 'nother level in terms of realness and we are in an orleasian setting. There should be MULTIPLE brothels/whorehouses in the game INCLUDING a personal one in Skyhold that we can manage ourselves or giv the reins to someone else (Varric would make a great brothel owner)

Some games it makes sense, played some war games around vietnam & Africa, DAO i didn't mind, DA2 was like been there done that. If they can actually fit a context around it I don't mind otherwise waste of resource and money in development

I think the portrayal of brothels in DA is usually pretty decent and tame. It's there to set the stage for some plots, maybe make a few jokes and sexual innuendos about, but it's pretty impossible to get any sexual gratification from it.

 

It's certainly unlike Witcher 2, where they needed to include some "steamy scenes" that were largely superfluous.

I am not oppose to it but there were some really bad stereotypes there even with trans people. Also sex workers deserve respect and not some funny jokes and be expendable all the time. That is what is most creepy for me.

Yep and if anyone stabs you at all at any point in the game then there should be a reasonable chance that the doctor treating your wounds is unqualified and you die of an infection........Come on! No one and I mean no one should want reality anywhere near a fantasy game, That's the whole point it's a fantasy. I don't want the grim realities of the sex trade shoved in my face when I want to play a fun RPG.

I know games are a fantasy meant to take you from the nastiness of IRW, and I'm all for slaying monsters going on adventures and enjoying a good story. I've seen first hand the hardships, drug addiction, countless situations of physical, mental, and sexual abuse sex trade workers endure. Games are my respite from the sh*t I see everyday, so no I wouldn't want brothels even if its just for lulz, but to each his own I suppose.
