4. Merrill dumps Hawke for being a bloodmage if rival.
Lol, what? Merrill dumps someone because he's a bloodmage?

@Natashina
I believe you meant Fergus Cousland. Bryce was the PC's father. And he was aTeyrn, not an Arl. ![]()
Not really a choice, but I'd have liked it if I could had Thrask just come to Hawke from the get go to join the Mage/Templar Coilition against Meredith based on how mage friendly you were up to that point and have it bring in some extra options during the end game.
With Origins pretty just getting a few more answers out of Morrigan. For DA2 I too wish I could have killed Sebastian when he threatened me for not killing Anders. Also I wish I had the option to punch Grand Cleric Elthina in the face more than once.

Changing it now, thanks. ![]()
I'm still baffled that people think they could change Alistairs mind and enforce your own will on him, which you can do a lot. Just not here.
I do wish I could take my own side in DA2, during the ending.

I think that Alistair and Leliana's breaking points are things which make the character's richer. Dragon Age wouldn't be nearly as entertaining if not for the fact the characters are not just extensions of your power fantasy.
What choices?
Have Bethany at my side when I a play as a mage instead of her being killed and having Carver
Not to recruit Anders
Not recruiting Merrill
Keep Meredith alive when siding with the Templars
Kill Merrill after killing her clan
public execution of Anders or just let the people stone him to death. A knife in the back was to easy
to sit on the Viscount throne
kill Tallis
chop off the Arishok's head and mount it on the wall in my house
Please, no more cutscene-only powers for incoming party members. Velanna irritated me from a game playing perspective because we see her doing neat things like awakening Sylvians, yet she has no such ability in the game. I'm used to cutscene versus in-game power divisions, but it really throws me off to see a party member doing things like that as a NPC, then...I don't know, forgetting how to or something when they come into the party.
Meet Wynne - She uses ice magic - Only knows earth magic
Meet Anders - He uses fire magic - Only knows ice magic
Meet Velana - She controls nature - Knows fire magic...
Well done, Bioware. lol

Yes. You don't see the hypocrisy in Hawke rivaling Merrill as a bloodmage?
To replay Dragon Age Origins from the perspective of Alistair. I always felt like it should have been his story about overcoming own weakness and facing ones heritage. And hey. Maybe in a sense it was

He did and was then dragged off to be executed by his evil friend.
Who he was romancing.

It's okay if Hawke does it ![]()

Think about it, Hawke repeatedly condemns her use of Blood Magic if you rival her, so there should have been something where Merrill called out a Blood Mage Hawke out for being a massive hypocrite and ended the romance with them.

Granted this is during the fake prologues but;
Meet Mage Hawke - Uses Spirit Bolt and Fire to kill Darkspawn - Knows Fire and Ice Magic.
Meet Bethany - Uses Spirit Bolt and Fire to kill Darkspawn - Knows Fire magic.
More than anything, I want the option of not allowing Mhairi to undergo the Joining ritual, even if she permanently leaves the Warden-Commander as a result of that decision. What's important to me is that she survives.

At least you can spec into ice magic for Wynne and fire magic for Anders. There is no "summon awesome attacking trees" spell for Velanna. Drives me nuts.
DA2: I should have been able to become Viscount without having to exclusively side with the Templars or take actions that they favored. The nobles saw how far gone Meredith was...my crew was publicly not here for her. And Hawke is the Champion. None of it makes sense. I never became Viscount because I simply cannot side with Templars who don't think for themselves. Hell I can't side with anyone in real life that can't.
That's all I can think of for now. I'm sure i'll visit this thread again.
Hawke should have been able to seize the Viscount's position in-game, independent of what was going on with the Templars. Taking the position against Meredith's wishes could potentially have added a nice level of intrigue and political jockeying worthy of someone with actual influence, instead of the errand boy crap Hawke was saddled with. Hawke would have been rightfully regarded as someone to be reckoned with.

Anders doesn't. Why should Hawke?
People tend to do that. They always find exuces for what they're doing. But since pc being a bloodmage doesn't affect the story in a slightest... Someone like Merrill dumping pc wouldn't make sense.
I'm far more concerned about Fenris making out with a mage than Merrill approving or dissaproving on something. Rivalmances are questionable as it is, so minor things like this don't change anything.

It's perks of being pc.
No one cares.

No one talks about Bryce Cousland very much after the beginning of the game, despite him being next up as
ArlTeryn of Highever. One of the last times you can mention him is to Alistair, and he uses it as a chance to talk about his feelings about losing Duncan. I wasn't thrilled that I didn't even hear aboutBryceFergus again after that until he just shows up during the epilogue.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding this, but Bryce was the Teryn of Highever. He would have been next up as King behind Cailan. Bryce had a stronger claim to throne than Alistair, Maric's own son (because he is a bastard).

I would have liked to recruit the Cult of Andraste from Haven. An army of Reavers... yes please. And I agree with people that say the Landsmeet should have been harder and that the duel should have only happened in case of a stalemate.

Especially because everyone knows that when Meredith put Dumar on the throne in the first place, she retained most of the power in the city, making Dumar more or less a figurehead while the Templar order ran things behind the scenes. Now with the Templars running things openly and brazenly exceeding their authority, Hawke should have been able to push back against this abuse of power.
If you don't side with the Templars (and perhaps even if you did), Hawke should have had the option to gain the throne by doing quests that allow you gather the support of some of the nobles (which if you side against Meredith at the start of Act 3, some of them even tell you is already the case), the City Guard, as well as convince the Grand Cleric to stop being neutral and endorse your candidacy.

True, at the end, if you were not a mage and sided with the templars, meredith really had no good reason to go after you.... if you could seize the viscount seat, it could have made it a little more believable.
