Previewing some of the Mage's abilities. #DAI pic.twitter.com/3wiOcyZbfj

"Previewing"? More like REviewing old abilities from DA:O... Very minor differences here. Nothing to get excited about in my opinion. I'd rather have a preview of some of the unique abilities that Solas wields.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay, Mage abilities.
Still so confuuuuuuuuuuuuused about what the trees will be.
If those are the trees, then did they squeeze Stonefist into the lightning one?
Fire+Blood
Is it just me or did they partially change the description of Mind Blast?
It seems all those spells have some kind of crowd control effect.
I don't remember fire spells or lightning bolt doing that before.
Seems like an emphasis on status effects rather than straightforward damage
edit: It also seems to confirm that "elemental" has been split up
Would somebody PLEASE edit the description of Lightning Bolt so that we only have one "nearby" lol. Noticed it in the Gamescom demo (or was it PAX?). Who knows, but it's still there.
Why does the target from the lightning bolt get paralyzed longer if there are more people close to him?

We are on it. Pretty sure we already caught that in a previous rev, but making sure nevertheless. ![]()
So, what no damaging spells anymore? Or all they just describing the effects of the spells?

Pretty sure its damaging + the effect.
Why do they insist on bringing back mindblast. The fail level of this spell goes beyond any known meme.
I have found mindblast very useful for cc around my mages.
If there's a crowd around your mage, you're already doing something wrong.
That's the problem with Mindblast. To actually use it, I'd have to play badly.

That's inaccurate. Going into melee as a mage is not only viable but it should be encouraged. The reason is that he has so much control that makes spells like mindblast completely obsolete.
Plus it's suicide on Nightmare cause it knocks down your whole party. Can't use it in tactics, it's not worth a skill slot. Basically it's like you level up with one less talent point. Which probably is the whole point of the spell's design. Filler Age
Mind blast is back yay BioWare ![]()

Maybe it bounces about between them?
I hope they explain what abilities Necromancy and Rift Mage have soon
Maybe it bounces about between them?
Yeah but shouldn't that paralyze the nearby people too, instead of just paralyzing the main target for longer? Just wondering if there is a mistake in the description.
FINALLY.
A single target fire spell!
I have been waiting for this EVER since I STARTED ORIGINS.
AT LAST.
I hope some more of the abilities are more interesting than this.
From that list? Lightning Bolt but I'm more interested in the new stuff DAI is bringing in.
