It looks like crowd control effects have been applied to the primals... Or at least Lightning, it didn't have a paralysis effect before that I recall. Very nice... ![]()
I suppose it makes sense since apparently mages are supposed to be more support than damagers in DA:I. But I don't think we should jump to conclusions about what the rest of skill trees look like based on a handful of basic spells.

I'm hoping it's leading to some sort of bigger feature. But it could just be filler for a week when they have nothing planned.
Yeah like revealing more and more "Abilities." Anyone else want to know about passives?

Frankly, I'd like them to reveal the full trees on the class page for the site. So we can read the abilities ahead of time.

I think that overall people might be more worried about "losing" abilities than maybe they should be- they just have more elemental flavor now. Like Horror is a Fire spell, Static Cage is the new Crushing Prison etc. There are a few spells like Hexes, Walking Bomb, and Death Cloud that seem to be outright missing, but we aren't sure what Necromancy or Rift Mage have either.
But the point people have been making for a while is that this is simply mundane, reducing the role playing options for mages. Mages as elemental masters are cliched and boring. And I hope to god Crushing Prison is there as Crushing Prison cause Static Cage whilst looking good is not a replacement and Crushing Prison is one of the unique iconic spells of the series.

Was Crushing Prison even any good in DA2? I remember taking it once and being extremely underwhelmed. Even the animation seemed to have been nerfed.

A whole tree dedicated to Lighting and weather spells?
Hell yeah.....

Ah, winters grasp. My old friend freezing magic has come to help me freeze enemies, run away and heal while the melee start hacking at them, and then repeat through the whole fight.

Yeah, I think it could be neat in certain situations, but it lost its DA:O glory. Petrify became my new Crushing Prison. I have a feeling Static Cage will now replace *that*... But I like lightning spells, so I'm very okay with this.

Mind Blast is the most useful from that list for a support mage. I really want to see the support mage spells
.

I'd like nothing more, but tbh I'm just trying to be realistic as to what we can expect.

Why does the target from the lightning bolt get paralyzed longer if there are more people close to him?
Yeah this doesn't make any kind of logical sense and appears to be just shoehorning CC effects in no matter what.

I miss good old Mana Clash. Wow, was that ever satisfying to throw out every time there was an Emissary hiding around the corner.

Maybe it's just me but if I was ignited in a burst of searing flaming agony, running wouldn't help the situation. Stop, drop, and roll guys. Safety first. ![]()

We also have this.
Barrier
You create a shimmering protective barrier that acts as temporary additional health. The barrier decays naturally over time.
Barrier: 100%
Area of Effect: 4 meters
Cooldown Time: 24 seconds
Cost: 50 mana

@Beerfish: Yes, it was overpowered (Mana Clash) but I miss the Anti-Magic school in principle - not power.
Glyph
Hex
Anti-Magic
Mana Manipulation
Healing
Enhancements
Debilitation
Those are my spell interests.
I'm hoping we get more than:
Blast Electricity
Blast Fire
Blast Ice

Never said it wasn't insanely broken. Just that it was immensely satisfying. ![]()
I'm definitely for retooling it if they include it again, but really it seems like more of a Templar ability. An upgrade for Righteous Strike, perhaps.

Lightning Bolt
"If other nearby enemies are nearby, the bolt will paralyze the target for longer."
lol... all I could think of after reading that was...
BW, Is that a grammatical error, or is there something I'm missing?
