Sounds like they really improved that aspect. The completionist in me is jumping for joy now that I don't have to keep a running log. Thanks again!

Yeah it's a really nice feature.

The Normandy SR2 is where I spend a lot of time just scanning planets, buying upgrades, checking my weapon loadout, and talking to all of my crew so that's definitely my favorite place.

Normandy is pretty much where you will spend most of your time. Like ToastyToci said, you have to scan planets, research upgrades, customize armor and weapons, and talk to your squad mates. I spend more time there than exploring other planets or doing side quests. But thats just because i like to talk to everyone, and make sure all of my decisions will be logged and ready for transfer to ME3. :)

I also like how Tali and Garrus have matured, so two people i don't usually talk to are added to my "to do" list. :)

I've only played it on PC (360 CE version coming Tuesday) and it is incredibly smooth. Very clean, beautiful graphics and great framerate. I haven't seen any problems with it. I can't vouch for the 360 version though because I have not played it.

The IGN review seemed to think both PC and 360 versions were graphically astounding, and far more technically sound than the first game. Another review I read said that it is either the best looking game on the 360 to date or it was tied for the top spot with a select few games

I played 360 version. Its really smooth, no texture pop-ins or any of that crap. No laggy moments like in ME1 from what i played.

Yay! I'm transferring my save from ME1 from my 360 so I'll be playing 360 most. (even though I put all this time into this save already )

That's very reassuring. I'm surprised it only got a 9.6 though... I mean MW2 got a 9.5 and that had a 5 hour campaign.

How is the voice acting and do side quests have more story to them?

I know this is supposed to be spoiler free and all, but you guys are awesome, because you are only answering questions and are being careful with what you write. It's clear you are not here to buzzkill people, you're here for the right reasons. I'm having to selectively look at stuff here but I think you have handled it very well. Unlike the the pestiferous assault we had this afternoon, none of the info is sneaky or slipped in so that you don't know what you are reading until it's too late.
Rats off to ya ^_^

I went and saw this at a buddies place and was *this* close to copying the files and taking them home. I WISH Bioware would go ahead and release the digital version for PC, since I think there's a LOT of torrent downloading going on...but I know there's probably good reasons why they can't/won't.
But DAMN was it hard leaving there without a couple of DVDs. I've already bought and paid for the 360 CE version, but if I thought it'd justify it, I'd buy the Digital Deluxe version right now and then get the DVD's and go ahead and play away.....
WON'T SOMEONE TELL ME IT'S OK??! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
Never mind.
Anyway, game looked terrific, load times on his machine were almost nonexistent...you couldn't even see what some of the tips were when the screens came up. Gameplay was just as good as all the reviews say it is, and the hacking and unlocking mini games are huge improvement over ME1. You don't get a lot of loot in the game, (I mean you get good stuff, but it's much more focused on quality not quantity- if you want lots of stuff then play Borderlands :) but everything feels pretty good and the storytelling is great. There's another thread where they ask if there should be a Mass Effect movie and I say "Who needs it?" This thing blows a movie out of the water. Everything is top notch.
Only problem I've seen is where my buddy got his Shepard stuck on a table...Somehow he got up there and couldn't get him back down and it happened once again when he somehow got up on top of a rail. Very odd.
Man talking about it makes me want to do the wrong thing even more. :) I *do* know it'd definitely be worth buying twice (well, maybe not after all the DLC...)
Congratulations, Bioware! I've only seen a couple hours of the game and I'm already thinking GOTY even though it's only January!
[Edit]Spacing and typo

Side quests definitely have more depth than the first game. Voice acting is excellent. Facial expressions, and character movement using their environment depending on who your speaking with. Instead of the usual standing up convo in ME1, you have extremely interactive conversations where you character moves around/sits down/makes different gestures, etc.. Its very movie like.

Thanks Godzilla. Very appreciated. Just here to help because I know people anxious to play the game want to ask questions.

Voice acting is stellar. Male Shep does a much better job (even though I didn't think he did bad in ME1). Yes they do. Plus there are squadmate specific quests (1 for each squadmate I think) that really tell you about your squadmate and you get their loyalty in the process.

True, but the campaign was cinematic and intense, if sometimes pushing the bounds of believability. And it has what seems to be one of the most popular next-gen multiplayers of all time. Mass effect is very much a personal rather than social experience.

I like him a lot more. He's a lot deeper and has much more emotion. You'll have to find out why for yourself though.

I don't want to be a **** and spoil stuff for people like the "others" earlier. I know i wouldn't want people to do it to me, so i won't do it to them. The only way i'll post a spoiler is in a private message if someone requests it. :)

As for grunt, i think he's better than Wrex in my opinion. Didn't really like Wrex in ME1, thought he was full of himself. :P

Does anybody want to give me a brief summary of what went on this afternoon? I was too busy playing this game :)
