Do you know who the enemy is and everything from the getgo and you just have to recruit and prepare for the big suicide mission, or do you learn more about what you face along the way? ME1 had excellent writing in terms of how it gradually gave you the big picture. Is there that same sense in ME2?

ANd the illusive man, how is he as a character?
Interesting and mysterious. I'm still trying to figure him out. I've only talked with him 3 or 4 times so far.
I've found out more about him through Miranda though.

Also, do you need to play it in a specific order like in ME1?BioticYoda wrote...
I'm not sure if its possible to answer this question without revealing too much, but in terms of the story missions...

I have not beaten the game, so I do not know who the end enemy is yet. (Maybe EJon can help). But everytime I talk with Illusive Man I find more and more out about my enemy...although this unraveling process is as deep as ME1's (so far).

I don't want to be a **** and spoil stuff for people like the "others" earlier. I know i wouldn't want people to do it to me, so i won't do it to them. The only way i'll post a spoiler is in a private message if someone requests it.
As for grunt, i think he's better than Wrex in my opinion. Didn't really like Wrex in ME1, thought he was full of himself.
Does anybody want to give me a brief summary of what went on this afternoon? I was too busy playing this game
Some retards spammed this forum with about 2-3 pages worth of topics with spoilers in the title.
As for the Illusive Man, i actually liked him, up until the end. I would have thought he'd have more control over shepard via a "kill switch" or something, but the ending reveals that he has no real control over shepard. He has somewhat good intentions, but can get a little out of hand on certain things. He wants human dominance in the galaxy, and at the end you will see how far he's willing to go for that. I think he's obsessed with being the alpha dog so much that he doesn't care about each individual human, but humanity as a whole.

The enemy is the same. The Collectos. You do however find out more about them, and their role the whole Reapers situation. Won't say any more than that - don't want to spoil. Trust me though, its mind blowing.

I feel like it follows a similar path. Beginning is linear, middle is in whichever order you like, and as for the ending, I'm ASSUMING that's linear, I cannot be sure though.

I have a few complaints, but overall its an AWESOME game and so many steps in the right direction. With the third, they will have achieved perfection, I can promise you all that.
Ejon is pretty spot on, though I found the ending slightly odd.

I actually liked him. He's a very nice person. He's not a dick like Miranda in the beginning. (You can soften her up though). He's definitely better than Kaiden. He died on my playthrough, made me really sad.
Bummer. And just to let everyone know that's not a spoiler because anyone can die on your mission if you do not do it correctly.

Yeah. It's not just about doing the loyalty missions and upgrading the gear, you have to choose carefully who does what job in the final mission. I made a mistake with him, and it cost him his life unfortunately.
Any more questions? I'll try to answer a few more before going to bed. I don't know if Toasty will still be on after that, but its getting late here for me.

Does assigning the right job change the outcome? I figured it was the same regardless
