I don't know about you but I don't wear my sexual orientation on my back.

Well its awkward if I'm the only one doing it

Anders was constantly flirting with women though... a precedent had already been set with Zevran being openly bi, so why would Anders be that subtle only around men?

Clearly I don't because I'm not a straight man! ![]()
Clearly I don't because I'm not a straight man!
Straight Man, Straight Woman, whatever floats your boat
(see this is why we need signs)

Because bisexuality is not a single shade of grey. It's a lot of them.

You keep assuming I'm straight.

We'd just end up arguing over how the signs should be written though. Watch.

How can you be gay? You never announced that you were gay the moment you posted in this thread! If you're gay, why aren't you constantly telling people that you're gay?
I'm offended, serah, because I assumed you were straight and now you are telling me that you have effectively "retconned" yourself as gay.

Tengwar clearly
I'd say the story about him attacking mages before heading for the hills is also a retcon. There's no way mages aren't keeping track of who's doing what to whom as a matter of self-preservation.
True, but there's a difference from being paranoid and on edge around Mages due to having been tortured (which we do see) and openly attacking and killing some of them (which was the rumour in the epilogue).
To me, it makes more sense that the Mages noticed him acting oddly around them and this made them nervous. An apprentice failing their Harrowing and not coming back around the same time he was transferred could have easily been enough "proof" to start the rumour that he murdered them and bolted out the door?
Tengwar clearly

As long as my CE is still a teryn I'm good.
Watch that have been retconned so she's not even a Bann just to ****** me off.
I can't be the only one here who can read Tengwar..........
You're thinking way too hard about this.
T'was a joke.
Because they're different people?
I don't see the what the big deal would be since no other companion has taken steps to hide their sexuality... why would Anders? In DA2 he speaks plainly about his male lover and openly flirts with a male Hawke hours after meeting him, no matter who is around. Clearly his depictions in DAA and DA2 are inconsistent. Attempting to re-interpret a single line of dialogue in a very specific way while ignoring countless examples of Anders rather aggressively expressing attraction to women isn't a particularly strong argument. He's obviously focused on sex and goes to great lengths to express his desire for total freedom to anybody within range of his voice, so I don't see any reason why he would not openly flirt with men if he was attracted to them in DAA.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. At least this confirms there's nerdier people than me out there.

there always someone nerdier
I played both DAO and DA2 before I played Awakening so I already knew Anders was bisexual, but had I played it first I still won't be that shocked if he was revealed to go both ways. I admit I might have assumed he was straight based solely on how openly flirtatious he is with women (and that in itself is an incorrect assumption to make), but then Anders strikes me as a bisexual man with a very heavy preference for women. This is very obvious based on his interactions in both Awakening and DA2, is it not?
Also in DA2 he doesn't mention his bisexuality when talking to a female Hawke, so he does seem like the kind of person who doesn't announce it unless there was a reason to like when he talks with a male Hawke (who he is attracted to). Even so I do clearly detect a flirtatious tone in that robes banter with Nate and I won't be the least bit surprised if that's exactly how it was intended to be (I guess only David Gaider can confirm or deny for sure). It goes unnoticed by many because his flirty dialogues with/about women are constantly in the face. Should it have been more obvious he was bisexual in Awakening and in DA2 with fem Hawke? I think so because I think it feels a bit like erasure otherwise. It could have been handled better IMO, but that in itself doesn't make his bisexuality a retcon.
Our Heteronormative society has wired us into detecting straight attraction more so than same sex attraction, unless the ss one is very obvious or greater/equal in number. We assume people are straight unless told otherwise and that if they don't mention it and later are in a same sex relationship, they are automatically labelled gay or living a lie or in this case a retcon. People can't just be bisexual with a preference or outwardly show attraction to only one gender. I've been guilty of such assumptions many times myself and it's something I try to work on.
Anyway why are we seriously still on about Anders and his sexuality? It's been over three years, I think it's time for all of us to let go. ![]()
About Leliana - she will attack you if you defile ashes, no? How could she use them to heal herself if they were destroyed?
Only possible option would be that she faked her death/a spirit possessed her.
Everything I've seen in Dragon Age suggests that adding blood, especially dragon blood, to something makes it more powerful.

It happened in a sequel, with only very tenuous foreshadowing at all in the previous installment.
That is not us expressing "heteronormativity", that is the writer making the character bi sexual in order to justify the romances in game
