The only thing I'm really worried about is timed events which I've heard might be in the game...and which I'm usually bad at! I'm also debating whether or not to upgrade my console because I had terrible problems with my Xbox360 'freezing' during Skyrim (sometimes after just a half hour gameplay) and that would REALLY spoil it for me!

Based on previous BioWare titles, I'm slightly worried about the following stuff making an unwelcome return:
- bad paraphrasing
- soulless sidequests
- barely functional quest log
- slow, almost reluctant bug fixing post launch
#128
Posté 13 septembre 2014 - 10:54
- Giant spiders
- No cities, especially Val royeaux
- 8 abilities limit favoring safe but narrow character building
- Too much timed events

- Auto dialogues
- Still skeptical about the 8 abilities limit

EA's Track record isn't making me very confident. The underwhelming reception to ME3, DA2, and more recently The Sims 4 aren't giving me much to hope for. The only recent EA game I've enjoyed is Battlefield 4, and even that game had a rocky launch that took months of patches to raise up for me. The mixed reception Destiny has been getting is also concerning me, as that game had a hugely well-received beta and very positive buzz leading up to its release. Bungie will need to pull off a miracle if it's going to be remembered as well as Halo. If even Destiny can be disappointing, DAI certainly can be too.
Frankly, I'm less concerned about technical issues and more about the actual game content. A game could run perfectly smoothly and with sharp graphics, but if the game itself lacks substance then all of that will mean nothing. I've said in the past how much I loathe Bioware's "Press X to Dry-Hump"-style of romances, and I don't see DAI changing my mind on that. Unlike some other people, I'm more concerned about the game being too linear than open. A game can never be too open-world for me, as long as it gives the player plenty of things to do. The biggest, though, is that the game will be too player-centric, a huge problem in all of Bioware's RPGs for me. NPCs who seems to exist solely to guide the player, companions never calling you out on decisions they'd undoubtedly take issue with, anything to remind the player that they aren't omnipotent and the world doesn't revolve around them.

I'm afraid that the game won't meet people's expectations, they'll hate it, kick up a ME3-like storm, Bioware will close and there will never be another Mass Effect or Dragon Age. I'm literally really afraid of this happening.

You know what they say: people hate change. It's been like that since the time cave men were walking on Earth.

Cutscene incompetence, i hate it when developers use this kakamimi device, Oh your character is one of the most powerful biotic's alive? You want to use your awesome powers to take out that annoying little guy that just killed your friend? Well too bad sucker! All you get is a lame ass pistol that can't hit, yes we know every other biotic npc uses their powers during cutscenes, but we need your character to suck right now mmk?
Oh and lets not forget the disaster that was Thessia, apparently biotics/tech savviness/military training are thrown right out the window when you need them the most.
You have a chance to do this right this time, make class choice and badassery matter, lose the cutscene incompetence and don't screw it up Bioware.

I understand the feeling, but there's no need to be so agressive and rude about it. Besides, it's a different team that aren't related to Mass Effect 3's development team, so putting the Dragon Age team in the blame is just wrong... unless you're still angry at them for Dragon Age 2. Anyways, there's stating an opinion and being really offensive about it.

My aggressiveness is there to illustrate a point, this concern was raised before ME3 and was ignored, and while the DA franchise has always done a better job when it came to class specific cutscenes it’s still a slippery slope that can kill immersion.
It start with a mage using a knife to kill someone...why on earth would i use a knife when i can incinerate them (like Hawke did to the downed darkspawn in the prologue), so yeah the DA team does a far better job at making your choice of class matter story-wise but there is still room for improvement, or they might drop the ball, which i really hope they wont.
But like i said the DA franchise is miles ahead of the ME franchise when it comes to class specific content, and i hope it keeps on improving.

Same here, friend. It's been a while since I've been as excited as I am for a game. And that even tops my excitement for ME3, which was huge. My hopes are high for this game, and it'd take A LOT to disappoint me after all we've seen.

I'm just afraid that I might die from 'x' reason before Inquisition's release.
Be it a meteor, or a lightning strike, or some car accident or being abducted by aliens prior to Inquisition's release, it terrifies me. I'm considering packing about two months worth of goods for survival and going down in my bunker. Well I don't have a bunker but I'm considering building one for that purpose... although by the time I'm done building it Inquisition would be released, not to mention that I might die from an accident during the construction anyway, so better not do that.

Me too! I had this really weird allergic reaction to something a week ago where my throat started swelling and my first thought was "OH NO! If I die from this, I will never get to play Inquisition!"

Nah the Asari losing was fine (they actually did better then you would expect from a race of strippers), i was referring to the scene on Thessia with Kai Leng when Shepard develops a sudden case of extreme stupidity disorder...Again.

That it's just going to be DA2.5. And the scary thing is that they've done nothing to fix a lot of DA2's warts when it comes to gameplay. Environments, yes, combat speed, yes, but it's still DA2's absurdly limited class/weapon system. Player choice is basically eliminated in favor of the role you choose at the beginning of the game, and you can never, ever deviate or do anything different. No weapon swap to range or melee, no real variety (You're a rogue? Want to melee? Daggers or nothing.), nada.

Bad review all over the place one day before the official release. I hope not.

Although this forum would fire up and The dev would be hiding in the North Pole inside a bunker lol.

I have some...reservations but am waiting to see.
The most important aspect that worries me is how we are allowed to interact with the companions, and how that will feel in-game. In DA2 I hated the inability to proactively initiate conversation with my companions while on the road. For me, it meant that they were only 'people' when in their home base, and were diminished to a mere 'combat asset the moment they stepped outside the door. That felt really bad to me, and it was like a neon sign lighting up to remind me that this is just a game. My understanding is that this restriction will still be in place for DAI so I am nervous to see whether the same disconnect arises for me in DAI as it did in DA2.
The other thing that I'd consider a significant issue is whether combat feels better than it did in DA2. I hated the arcade/cartoon combat pace and visuals of DA2. And so far I'm ambivalent on the combat videos for DAI. Lots of Visual FX, too much anti-gravity stuff, and just too 'busy' seeming so far. But maybe it feels different when playing. I am thrilled that the tactical camera is back. I'm relived that the ability to pause still remains available. I'm worried that auto attack and auto acquiring new targets will be as messed up as in DA2, but I can only hope I'm not going to have the spam the mouse or controller button this time around. I hope combat encounters are less weighted towards large numbers of wimpy mobs this time.
I also hope to the maker that there's some more thematic diversity this time around. DA2 was a one note wonder: mage vs templars ad nauseum. I hope there's more going on in the world than a singular central theme.
Generally, I'm still not a fan of the change in aesthetic from DAO to DA2 and it feels to me that DAI is still aligning with the DA2 aesthetic for a large part of things. Thank the maker the elves have been re-retconned. But am waiting to see what goes with the darkspawn. I like the look of the Qunari, and the dragons are certainly different: I'm still not sure if I like them or not.
And while this is not a fear, it is a point of irritation: screw mandatory Origin installs for PC. I have nothing but contempt for the person who decided to implement that policy on ME3 and now DAI. Yes, it aggravates me that much. (Steam is no better btw...I hate steam requirements just as much)

My aggressiveness is there to illustrate a point
Aggressiveness never makes any argument stronger. In almost all cases, it weakens the argument. The most common reactions to aggressiveness on game forums is to either counter it with the same aggression or to dismiss it as extreme ranting.
I am pretty sure that your concern will receive a more favorable reaction if you voice it in a civil way, regardless of how valid it is.

1) Bad ending (the direness ME3 makes me especially worried here).
2) Bad QA/QC. I haven't seen a Bioware game in many years that was at a good standard when released. Even DA:O had issues some of which were made worse with a patch. DA:O 1.3 anyone?
3) Art direction and level design. After DA2, more so.
4) Gameplay. Nixed or almost non-existent healing is not fun for me. DA2 style combat was worse than DA:O.
There's so much damage for me from DA2 & ME3 that there is no chance of me pre-ordering or buying at release. I will wait and see until I find out more about the game.
