Is there a reason why there's no PvP?

They get enough flack for balance changes as it is anyway.

BioWare wouldn't have enough jars to contain all the tears pvp would bring.

I am glad there's no PvP. From what I have seen on other forums, PvP really brings out the worst in people. Or brings out the worst people.
Neither of which is pretty!

I'd slaughter all you guys anyway! My Dwarven mage would QQ all of your asses back to the fade.
Oh yeah? I think it's time we introduce the Thunderdome for DAI!

Because they were on the wrong end of a Dark Souls Cracked Orb invasion, and their PvP software was stolen, along with their Humanity.

pvp where you're facing your enemy or your enemy is at your side at most and you get backstabbed is not good pvp. It's a shame there is a lot of potential there in dark souls. that just ruins it for me though.

PvP would bring hundreds of "NERF ASSASSINS PLOX!!!1!!!" threads and we don't need that.

Thematically, we're playing a game about uniting a people together to defeat a common enemy...how does a PvP mode fit into that?
You could do it like Left 4 Dead 2's Multiplayer where you choose to be the zombies or survivors and then after a few rounds you switch.

Mostly a lag problem. Remember all the annoying **** that lag would cause in ME3 MP? Imagine dealing with that in PvP.

MP balanced for PVP is pretty much a nightmare that I'm glad they aren't taking on. Partly because somebody always finds ways to cheat. Partly because something is always stronger whether intentionally or unintentionally than most other things. Stun-locking rogues in WoW being a fine example really. The fix for that being they all but got rid of stunlocking...
Not to mention the fact that such balancing almost always has unintended consequences on the single player game as well because they often share weapons and gear in some form.

The day they alter the balance of the SP game because of the constant whining of pvp players is probably the day I do abandon Bioware. Ultimately, that's why I stopped playing ESO. Watching them constantly destroy and disrupt your characters, because of the incessant bawling of the PVP crowd, drove me insane.
This game series should NEVER do PvP.

Keep in mind that they can separate the balance changes so they only effect MP and not the SP game.
That's what they did for Mass Effect 3.

We'll get that anyway. Probably a toss up between rogues and mages which will get the most nerf threads.PvP would bring hundreds of "NERF ASSASSINS PLOX!!!1!!!" threads and we don't need that.

Mage would be to OP to go up against, once they lock you with crushing prison, its all over, follow up after that with other spells

Crushing prison? More like tickling prison.
Gentle back-rub prison! With scented oils!

Sure, but it would be much worse if those assassins were stealthin' around and unloading tons of spike damage into super squisy mage players.

Probably because they don't want to deal with countless hours of whining and the constant uphill battle for balance that comes from everything PvP related.
They'd never get any new content produced.
At least in Co-op PvE it's no disaster if a class underperforms slightly. Unless you happen to get a group of elitist min-maxers that take the game way too seriously, but I'm fairly sure they're all raiding on WoW and other MMOs.

First thing they'd do if PvP was added would be to nerf crushing prison into oblivion and give it a one second duration with a 30 sec cooldown. ![]()

I didn't play the MP until the game had been out for a year or so, but I can imagine the outrage when someone's favorite skill got nerfed. ![]()
Still, if it was that bad already without having to worry about PvP, imagine the result with it.

I personally never really cared for PvP.
I can play it; and sometimes do (marginally) well at it; but it is just so frustrating, and the competitive modes tend to breed 'pettiness' among the more competitive members the community.
I don't really want a person following me around trying to team kill me because I took their favorite weapon, or stole their kill, and I really don't what to get insta-gibbed by some ultra high lvl mage or rogue only to be t-bagged.
And that doesn't even cover the nightmare of balancing a game around SP, co-operative, and competitive play.

There are already a lot of PvP games out there, many by EA. What we don't have much, are PvE multiplayer games. ME3 multiplayer catered to that niche who wanted PvE multi instead of the old "get killed in 0.2 seconds without ever seeing your opponent" trope.
Leaving out PvP gives developers much needed opportunity to balance classes against environment, to supplement each other instead of against each other. If there is ever PvP multiplayer, I sincerely hope it is limited to team-based 4vs4 PvP.
However, it is my opinion that any kind of PvP would be detrimental to DAI PvE multiplayer. Once PvP is available even if only in 4vs4 form, they will have to work extra hard to provide balanced classes to counter increased player whining who play competitively. The time they could have spent to make PvE more fun.
Please, there are plenty enough competitive PvP multiplayer games. Let's not turn DA and ME franchises into one of them. Do not forget that some people prefer to enjoy good PvE games without PvP stealing the spotlight and all development time.
Me and few of my friends have been playing the **** out of ME3 multiplayer, because despite all of its flaws, it had that something almost no other game provides. We would like that to continue in DAI multiplayer and eventually in the upcoming ME4 title.
Thank you. ![]()

I think they've made the right choice in using the available resources to make the best co-op MP game they can.
At least the best possible with the resources available, instead of splitting what they have in two camps and potentially coming up with something that please no one.

Simple: PVP with microtransactions = pay to win, PVE with microtransactions = everybody wins since someone threw a ton of cash down the toliet to carry their team.
