I personally don't want a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3 but I want a new Kotor game to tell more stories about star wars:expanded universe, the swtor MMO was Crap it didn't represent what makes Star wars like lightsaber forms such as the Form V: Shien / Djem or Form VI: Niman it shouldn't be for buffers.

Listen to these videos Bioware to really understand lightsaber forms and learn that Obsidian Entertainment got it right on Kotor 2 so please watch the video if you can.

I'd much rather BioWare handle its own in-house IP's and leave stuff like Star Wars to someone else.

I may be wrong as I'm not that familiar with when the different forms of lightsaber fighting entered the EU and how, but I'm almost positive they're all non-canon at this point. So, until Disney decides to make it canon again, I doubt we'll see a game that takes care to recognize the different forms anytime soon, let alone one from Bioware.

Also,

I personally don't want a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3 but I want a new Kotor game

Bioware is currently working on an unannounced Star Wars game, hopefully it is single player and not another MMO. I remember being so excited when I learned of SWTOR, but then getting crushed when I learned it was going to be an MMO, I still followed and bought the Collector's Edition, I deeply regretted it when the game went F2P :(

Well, if the rumors are to be believed they're making another mmo

I totally wouldn't mind if Obsidian made Kotor 3, I think they do a better job with their storytelling and characters than Bioware. Kotor 2 would have been a great game had they been given enough time to finish it, but leave it to LucasArts to make insensible decisions.

So you want a completely buggy at launch, buggy 4 years down the line product?

Ok then...

I've seen that and that causes me a lot of anxiety. I just want a kick-ass, highly re-playable, single player, RPG Star Wars experience and I feel like that is what a lot of other people want as well

Obsidian wants to make a star wars rpg set between Episodes III and IV, in fact they pitched it to LucasArts but were turned down before Disney bought them. They are waiting to make the pitch again, but it will be a long time because EA and Disney have a 10 year star wars game exclusivity agreement, they have either 8 or 9 years left on it.  <_<

I've always thought KOTOR 2 was superior to KOTOR 1, it was even more so with the Restoration mod, the HK factory was so much win and greatness...

Indeed, even if these guys can't possibly make a finished game, their storytelling is just superior.

Aside from Alpha Protocol I didn't find any of Obsidian's stories to be compelling.

I suppose it's mostly subjective though.

To be fair, Obsidian had around a year to make KOTOR 2. I don't know if it is true or not, but I once read that Bioware/LA wouldn't even tell them the story for KOTOR 1 (I can't remember if it was out yet or not, but them ordering a sequel to something unproven and not out yet doesn't make much sense to me) so Obsidian had to either wait for the game to come out and play it or they had to play it, which would also take away from production time. Although that might have been a fabrication it does explain a bit why

Spoiler
is different than in KOTOR 1.

Say what you will about Obsidian, but is Bioware really any better than them at telling compelling stories?

Kotor 1 is classic copy paste star wars story. A hero and his companions set to save the galaxy during a time of war. Fighting against an evil sith and his empire, sounds familiar right? Kotor 2 was much better in my mind because it tossed that type of lazy generic plot into the garbage, and came up with something far more complex and unique.

Indeed, but unfortunately I see it for what it could have been, not what it was.

Which is part of my problem with that game. They should have kept the cut story scenes out of the steaming pile of bugs that was KOTOR 2.

There's probably a reason why KotOR 3 won't happen

If Bioware were to return to KotOR... I'd like to see everything in the original game brought back & fleshed out more. Pazaak & Swoop racing should come back in a bigger way. Oh, I'd love an underworld focused game. Smuggling, gambling, racing. Maybe taken back to Nar Shaddaa & other worlds. With the reappearance of the GenoHaradan, HK-series droids, real Mandalorians, something from the comics, GoTo... A good amount of room for fun, return of old characters and familiar themes, pay that 1313 crowd a slight service. If your focused more on the underworld, then you don't need to worry about delving to far into the Exile's fledgling Jedi order. You can keep a safe distance from any elements that might be more important to tor.

Most of the problems can be attributed to LucasArts forcing them to release far too early in order to get it to market by the holiday season.

Not really their fault.

I didn't know about this and I agree that it makes sense given this particular difference. I think it turned out well cause I liked Obsidian's version more. I played Kotor 2 first because I had technical difficulties with K1.

But I was referring more to bugs and unfinished/not well implemented mechanics..

First, Obsidian got screwed on the KOTOR 2, they were forced to release it before they were ready so I wouldn't mind giving them another chance at the franchise. Given SW:TOR hasn't been the huge commercial success everyone hoped it would be I don't see EA going back to the MMO Star Wars well right now. Having said that I have feeling any new Star Wars game is going to be between Episode 6 and 7 or the founding of the rebellion between Episode 3 and 4 because that is where Disney is focusing.

On the contrary -- Obsidian, make a new Star Wars RPG.. that is to say if EA didn't own the rights to the Intellectual Property.

Both Bioware and Obsidian makes Kotor 3 with Revan(depowered due to the stress fighting on the Star Forge) as the PC again and Ajunta Pall and Nihilus as allies.

Over the years I have read interviews and such about where Obsidian was going to go with KOTOR 3, I'll go ahead and share what I remember and try to dig up and edit in the sources. The "true sith" were different from the Sith Purebloods in The Old Republic, but somewhat similar. The plan of the true sith was to cause wounds in the Force all around the galaxy and to wait for the Republic to collapse, causing mass devastation, death, and the surviving Jedi to be limited in number and perhaps even cut off from the Force, in other words; the true sith were poising themselves to win a war that the majority of their enemies had no idea was even taking place, the aimed to win without firing even a single shot.

Another thing was that at one point in the story HK-47 would have been blasted apart (only top half intact) and the player would have carried him around in a backpack; HK-47 would be able to fire his blaster at enemies while being transported in the player's backpack. This would have mirrored the scene where Chewbacca carries C-3PO in The Empire Strikes Back.

Spoiler
would have been found, I've read differing reports as to whether or not we could play as him/her and the Exile. There would have been a location named Mandalore City in the game, so the Mandalorians likely were going to be recruited by the player to help fight the Sith.

Edit: Here is source 1: http://www.vg247.com...on-at-obsidian/

Edit 2: Here is source 2: http://starwars.wiki..._Old_Republic_3

Final Edit: Here is some concept art: http://www.joystiq.c...ii-concept-art/

I was looking for an old leaked youtube video, it showed the Ebon Hawk landing on what was presumably Korriban and two Sith fighting, I can't remember, but I think HK-47 was also briefly in the video. If anyone knows what video I am talking about and posts it, I will be grateful  ^_^

It would be nice playing a Star Wars rpg as a Dark Side character (that can go light eventually if he likes). Jedi kinda suck :P . I may have a lot of bad things to say about SWTOR, but I really enjoyed the Sith Warrior story. Playing as the unconditional bad guy is a refreshing change in pace.
