I love companion relationships, but I'm hoping for at least one non-hetero pair up. It would also be nice to see companions get together with just NPCs.
Relationships between companions?

Everyone keep saying that but there's like no reason for now other than "they're both not straight".
Never thought it works that way.
The pairing just has so much "odd couple" appeal. Tevinter mage and Qunari warrior. It is practically begging to be a thing.

I am for this feature as a old school Harvest Moon Fan the dynamic is cool but it is also a little iffy to me on one hand I love and support it but at the same time I kinda wish there was a few LIs in case your options in my case Cass & Josie end up being
Ninjamanced
by say Cullen & Sera. Then your have no options available like I said I like the idea but at the same time I can live without it.

No, it's not.
Because there's a lot more to them than just "tevinter mage" and "qunari".

I'm not disputing that. My interest in the pairing mostly comes from this little bit in Dorian's profile. I'm well aware that it's hardly substantial evidence for a romantic relationship, but people have shipped pairings for less.
[DA]: Having a Qunari around has also got to yield some strange interactions.
[DG]: Dorian's relationship with the Iron Bull is interesting. The Qunari have been at war with the Tevinter Imperium for centuries, after all, and the fact that neither Dorian nor Iron Bull are typical of their people makes for an intriguing arc.

Well, shipping something is always ok.
But some people talk about them like it's canon already.
Sometimes there are reasons for people liking each other, but sometimes it goes against all logic - like Carver and Merrill. Carver, for gods sake, he tired of magic, mages and their problems, he hates blood magic. Not to mention Merrill's an elf. But he still has a crush on her because she's too "cute".
My point is we can't possibly know who will hook up with whom now, it's just unpredictable.

My picks are...
Cassandra and Cullen
Leliana and Cullen
...
That's all I can think of due to race gating and orientation. On the bright side, it's pretty much a guarantee that I'll be surprised by what's actually in the game since my list is so short.

Leliana and Cullen
I hope this is only on playthroughs with an imported keep save where the warden didn't romance her. It will ****** off a lot of people otherwise.

Actually I had written that in but erased it since it's been 10 years... I'm not sure if she should still be single after that much time, but I admit that I'm in the middle on that issue...

What makes you think the warden and her broke up?

Even if they did, what's wrong with her still being single? Maybe she prefers it that way? Staying single after a break up does not necessarily mean the person is not moving on. After trying the couple's life, some realise that they prefer to be alone. It happens. Or maybe she just hasn't found someone to her liking.

I hadn't heard this. ![]()
I'm not a fan of companion hook ups for a few reasons, but the main one is that one of my DA2 playthroughs must have glitched because Isabela and Fenris were having their suggestive talk and I was in a romance with him already. I had just come from telling Anders we could be friends only and was on my way to Fenris' house when this occurred. Got so angry I deleted that run and started one where I then planned to romance Anders and give Isabela to the Arishok if she even bothered coming back. ![]()
Having said that, I wasn't a fan of the Garrus and Tali hook up either. If Bioware decides the companion has to be with someone, I think I'd rather it be with some random NPC and not a party member.

Mm... just a hunch, I guess. I mean, she works for the Divine and might be free to see the Warden, what... twice a year at most? It's not like the people of Thedas can take a 5 hour flight across the continent or use telephones. Having a long distance relationship like that in the Middle Ages doesn't sound like it would work, especially when both of them have jobs that keep them busy and possibly traveling to various nations for long stretches of time.

Oh you misunderstand. I'm not saying she must be with the warden or not remain single or anything along those lines. I'm just simply saying it's best not to pair up past companions in the interest of players that have headcanon-ed their warden's relationship with her after Origins in a certain way.

I think the Warden only disappears in Act III.

I think the Warden only disappears in Act III.
But she moves to Val Royeux (sp) to serve under the Divine right after the Blight, doesn't she? Forgive me if I'm wrong about the timeline... DA2's chronology has always been a bit hard for me to keep straight....
Wait... isn't there a point in Act 3 where she refers to the Warden as "My Love?" Maybe I am wrong...

It says in the Epilogues of both Awakening and the main game that they travel together often.
Maybe the Warden is just hanging around.
But yes, Long DIstance Relationships can be hard.

Regardless of what it could be, I just don't see why it is necessary to ****** off a portion of the fanbase. She can still hook up with whoever (or remain single or whatever else) on a world state that doesn't involve the warden and her being an item. I just don't agree with opening that can of worms and erasing peoples own stories if it can at all be helped.

Uh... this is clearly getting out of hand... I tell you what, here is my new and improved list:
Cassandra and Cullen
Leliana and Cullen (only if Leliana was never involved with the Warden in DA:O)
...
That's all I can think of due to race gating and orientation.

No, no, I probably shouldn't have erased that line in the first place... since I was torn on what to do I should have erred on the side of caution.

This is not how it happens. So far all the background hookups/flirts happened only once you had locked a romance in with someone else, missed your window of opportunity to activate their romances in the first place (such as with Tali and Garrus, who were both conditioned to have an imported romance from the previous game), or locked yourself out of a sensitive romance by fooling around with other LIs (such as sleeping with someone else after sleeping with Fenris, which ended your romance for good). You were never deprived of a love interest you still had any chance of settling with, if they went for someone else it's because either you were already taken, or they were done with your waffling.in case your options in my case Cass & Josie end up being
Ninjamanced
by say Cullen & Sera. Then your have no options available
In this hypothetical scenario, Cullen and Sera wouldn't be sweet-talking and ninjamancing all the ladies from under your feet while you're out hunting dragons - at best, Sera might have a thing with Josie once you'd settled with Cassandra anyway; or Cassandra might go over to Cullen if she finds you getting too comfy with Josephine. You can only have one anyway, the other might as well follow their own heart.
(....I would leave a cautionary word to anyone planning to romance Cassandra to not push your flirting with Josie too far, though. Who knows whether Cass will be the preternaturally flirt-sensitive LI of this game or not, but she doesn't seem like she has the patience to deal with two-timing beeswax. As someone who lost both Fenris and Sebastian as endgame options in my first playthrough to my own curiosity and need to click the heart icon whenever it showed up just to see what it would do, trust me, some characters really don't like to see the girl/guy they're into flirting with anything that moves just because they can.)

I would like to see Cass and Cullen, Cass and Blackwall or Cass and Bull. Cass and Cullen would be my preference though.
I'd rather Josie doesn't get with anyone but if she does I will try to ignore it. She belongs to my spare inquisitors (basically whichever ones dont romance Sera).
